Beautiful home and property. We loved the boats, fire pit, and other accommodations. The only thing that wasn’t great is the dirt road to the property. In an SUV it was totally manageable though. Would definitely recommend to others wanting a lake view Maine vacation.
This beautiful Maine home is exactly as pictured. Everything is newly renovated and well kept. Lake views are amazing. Exceptionally clean. The owner responded very quickly when we reached out with questions - this was very important to me. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time at Phillips Lake. Amenities like 4 Kayaks & a Canoe allowed us to get out on the lake to relax & explore. We also enjoyed the fire pit sitting under the stars.
Master bedroom & bath are huge! Bed was extremely comfortable. Living room furniture was also very comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed & there was a propane grill outside as well.
I would highly recommend several things in the area - Acadian Boat Tours, Sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, hiking the Acadia Ocean Path Trail, and Gateway Lunts Lobster Pound Restaurant in Trenton.
After such a wonderful trip, I foresee our family returning to Maine again in the future!
Great place to stay clean relaxing and Casey is a great host. Only down side is the camp literaly adjacent to the property line so close they can look inside of your house you're staying in, literally NO privacy... :(
This was one of our best VRBO stays. It doesn’t happen often where the place is actually better than you thought it would be. It was the perfect place to be active (if we wanted) or relax and enjoy the quiet and the views (if we wanted.) The home was impeccably clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kayaks and fire pit were nice touches for our family.
We booked this lakehouse based on the 15 other stellar reviews and they were completely accurate. This house is a dream vacation for a family looking to experience nature, relaxation, outdoor fun and all the amenities of home away from home. Casey the owner was gracious, kind, easy to communicate with and made sure our family had everything they needed to be safe on the water including kayaks, life vests, and fishing gear. The bar b que grill, kitchen annd and super comfortable beds, linens, and towels made the house warm and inviting. It was perfect and we will absolutely book again next summer. What a perfect trip thanks to the best accommodations.
We loved our visit here! The property was bright, well equipped and so clean. The backyard and fire pit was great. The view of the lake was stunning and so calming. It was really easy to communicate with the owner. We had a great time!
Our family of 5 had a great stay here. House is exactly as advertised and the lake is beautiful. Kids loved swimming (note you do have to navigate some boulders by the dock), playing on the kayaks and canoe, fishing, and making s’mores by the fire pit. Also loved seeing and listening to the loons (and spotted a bald eagle one afternoon). Supermarket nearby for most grocery needs and also great lobster nearby. Easy day trip to Acadia (we did a day trip to Schoodic Peninsula and then spent a the last few days of our trip on MDI). Would not hesitate to stay here again - really grateful for the memories we made here!
I don’t often leave reviews, but I feel compelled to say that our 4-day stay at Casey’s beautiful lake cabin was nothing short of amazing! The views are breathtaking, the house is tastefully updated, and we really had everything we needed. We have 4 kids ranging from age 5-14, and everyone enjoyed our stay. We relaxed in the backyard, on the dock, fished a little bit, and got out on the kayaks a few times. We took the roughly 1hr drive into Bar Harbor for dinner and to Acadia Nat’l Park and it really wasn’t bad - would have been nice to be a little closer, but I would rather have had the serenity and peace of Phillips Lake over busy Bar Harbor any day.
I will say, as others have mentioned, that the upstairs loft setup is a little odd with just a twin trundle bed and recliner chair. The master bedroom en-suite is gorgeous. I would recommend for those with small children or those that just don’t want to sleep downstairs alone, bring a blowup mattress for them to stay closer to you. This is what we did and it worked wonderfully.
One more thing to note - we drove in from Buffalo, NY, so we didn’t get to the house until after dark. It can be a little tricky to navigate those unknown dirt roads in the dark and the GPS doesn’t make it clear which house you’re supposed to be at. By the 2nd night we were pros, but just thought it may be helpful to other renters to consider when planning.
Thank you for opening your beautiful home to us - we hope to come back!
Everything about this house was as advertised! It was very clean when we arrived with fresh cut flowers on the dining room table (nice touch). There were 4 kayaks and a canoe for us to enjoy and we certainly made good use of them. Caught a few nice bass and some sunfish too. The house is located off a dirt road, so that was a bit of a surprise, but it is well-kept. Neighboring houses are pretty close too, but nobody was in them most of the time we were there so it was quiet. Beds and couch were comfy and the only issue we had was a lack of hot water in the upstairs shower (which was quickly addressed by the owner). Enjoyed the firepit too! All-in-all a fantastic place on a beautiful Maine lake with owners who really seem to care about their guests.
Overall, our experience was very good. The setting on the lake could not be lovelier. One downside is the road leading to the property is heavily potholed. That said, we did enjoy our stay. We also agreed that the upper floor does not make the best use of the space. An additional bedroom with door would be a real plus but the ensuite master bedroom is very nice!
Beautiful home and setting! Very clean. Smaller bedroom lacked furniture. Only mirror downstairs was in the bathroom. This bathroom would have benefited from a storage cabinet between toilet and sink in addition to a bathroom exhaust fan.
Was exactly what I was hoping when we looked for a Maine cabin on the lake. Absolutely perfect and cozy back yard that was just steps from the dock and crystal clear water. Had everything we needed for a quiet and restful stay. Was close enough to Acadia National Park to sight see along the way as we visited the Park. Great vacation!
The property was wonderful and clean, with ample space for gathering indoors & outdoors, including a private dock. The kitchen was well supplied. Everything seemed very newly renovated. Note that the area of the lake immediately surrounding the dock has a lot of boulders; we did park a boat there several times, but it definitely took a bit of doing to get in without hitting anything. I'd definitely come back again!
The property and location were beautiful however although the ad indicated that the home had a/c, only the master bedroom had a free standing air conditioner that had limited flow to the rest of the house. The second bedroom did not have any a/c and was much too warm for anyone to sleep in. All 3 adults and one child ended up sleeping in the master for the entire vacation. This property is beautiful but either needs central air or a window unit for the second bedroom
Beautiful home and location, everything we expected and more!
This wonderful property was as described and very clean. The location with lake view is absolutely beautiful! The neighborhood is peaceful and lovely. It is approximately an hour from Acadia National Park.
There were four kayaks and a canoe for exploring the lake and a couple of simple fishing poles; my husband caught (and released) a bass early in the am.
Casey was timely and responsive to our communications with requests and questions. Check-in was easy.
Just a heads up that there is not central air, but a nice room a/c and fans that do a good job. This is noted in the property description.
Great places to get lobsters: Jones Lobster Co Holden and McLaughlin Seafood in Bangor. Holden A Kone has the best ice cream.
We had such a wonderful stay, we may book again next summer.
We planned a trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia and wanted the peace of a lake front home. The house is an open layout quaint and perfect for keeping the family all together. Fire pit , outdoor fun with dock, kayak and beautiful spot on the lake. I hope to return soon
The property was clean and very well maintained. The host was thoughtful and friendly. I can not say enough about the view. I would recommend you bring your Roku with you.
