I was looking for a place to stay when my van broke down. I ended up getting some peaceful rest at Sandie’s. She's a great host, and I will be back. I really enjoyed my stay there. A nice, clean, quiet place to visit. Thank you Sandie!

Highly recommend this property. Its in the country but only about 6 miles out of cheifland and about 50 minutes to Gainesville. The host is a very nice person. She recommended restaurants and gave us some shortcuts for our drive home. Looking forward to visiting again.
The unit smelled like wet dog throughout. It is 3-4 mi out of town down a dirt road. It is the front part of Sandie's house, which appears slightly run down. It is spacious and the bed was comfortable. There was a mini-fridge, small microwave and coffee pot but no cups and no hairdryer. It was an alternative to the 2 motels in Chiefland, which apparently are not rated very highly. We were in the area to visit friends in an RV park in town.
Sandie's home is in a rural area with cleared, flat pastures that offer a 360-degree view of the night sky. We spent two nights enjoying "real" darkness without the insistence of city lights. Your private entrance is actually Sandie's front door. She will meet you when you arrive and hand you your keys. Otherwise you won't see her unless you call. The accommodations are clean and comfortable, and Sandie herself is a lovely and very interesting person. Any dog lovers will have an instant bond. She is a "professional" dog person. You'll be happy that you stayed in Chiefland.

About the host

I am a country girl who has loved and raised a very ancient breed of Turkish dog since 1987. The dog in the above photo was one of my favorites. Anatolians are my passion and I always have at least one with me at all times. I worked at the Vet Med Teaching Hospital in Gainesville for 21 years, after having worked for the Florida State Legislature for 10 years before that. I have several relatives that all live close by, while still giving us plenty of privacy. My extended family has been in Chiefland for generations and we all look out for each other. It's the thing I love most about being a country girl with a large family.
Why they chose this property
When my mom passed away after me taking care of her for 8 years, I needed something to keep me busy, so I decided it would be wonderful to have a nice place for people to come and rest after tiring themselves out at whatever local entertainments they chose to spend their time. So, come visit my little corner of heaven and see some amazing sunsets and sunrises .... or, enjoy the very comfortable bed available and sleep as late as you want. It's all up to you!!! I'll keep the light on for you! LOL!!
What makes this property unique
My country home is especially good for those who just want a really quiet place to stay to get away from all the city noises. You can recharge and go back home ready for a new spark in your steps.
