Inside, you'll find many high-end details and an open lower-level layout encompassing multiple living areas, a pool table, a shuffleboard, and a wet bar. When you're not out skiing or exploring downtown Banner Elk and the nearby festivals and cultural events, kick your feet up and watch TV. The full kitchen has stainless steel appliances, handsome countertops, and breakfast bar seating, while the adjacent dining table has seating for six. Or, dine alfresco on the expansive furnished deck with mountain views. Spend quiet afternoons reading a novel from the comfort of the swing bench. A gas grill is available for summer cookouts, and you can serve everyone at the large picnic table. Evenings are best spent gathered around the firepit toasting s'mores and stargazing.

Upstairs, you'll find three well-appointed bedrooms, each with a TV and access to the furnished upper-level deck with mountain views. The main suite has its own en suite bathroom, and the other two bedrooms have a shared hall bathroom. A large office space off the primary bedroom is ideal for remote workers and students. The office includes an electronically adjusted desk for standing or sitting and space for two people to work. The garage offers plenty of room for coats, boots, skis, and more, and the mudroom has a stainless steel sink. The gas stove will keep everything nice and toasty on those cold winter evenings, and summer guests will appreciate the central air-conditioning. There are plenty of games for the kids to play, and on sunny days, they can romp around the enclosed yard while you challenge your friends to games of shuffleboard and pool.

Nice cabin for a family vacation

There was plenty of storage everywhere - for clothes and especially in the bathrooms. We loved how many beds were available and everything we could need in the kitchen. However, we were extremely short on towels - there wasn't even enough for all of us to shower, let alone use the hot tub too. The house was in a great location and worked well for two families staying together. The driveway has some very sharp turns and is difficult to navigate if you are arriving in the dark and it's snowy/icy outside. Adding some extra gravel to widen the hairpin turns would help a lot.

Girls Weekend

My friends and I stayed here for a low-key weekend and it was perfect! The house has ample amount of space for the 7 of us and we loved how openness of the downstairs area. The house is close to town, which was really convenient! We loved the hot tub, but wished we could’ve raised the temp above 100 since it was very cold during our stay and the water temp lowered fairly quickly.

Hi y'all was great!

Hi y'all We spent a weekend in this beautiful home. We found everything that we needed for a perfect stay. The house has many high-end finishes that we admired. However the directions need some clarification. Google maps directed us to turn right on Gualtney road and then turn right in the driveway. The driveway is on the left (west) side of Gualtney road and at night the marking is hard to see. We arrived at 10:00 pm and we're confused by this. Also the driveway is very steep and you need to stay on the outside of the curves to stay out of the ditches. I highly recommend this rental and hope to be able to stay here again.

Gross hot tub, cleaning and maintenance issues

Hot tub was on, but water smelled terrible and was unusable. My son gagged when we opened the cover. Water was dirty. Local contact never responded. Vacasa rep said they would alert the local team but no one ever came. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, and the family enjoyed the pool table and shuffleboard. However, the kitchen table was covered with crumbs and sticky spills. My bath towel had blood stains. Lots of maintenance issues around the house - broken off doorknob to the deck, bathroom doors that didn’t latch, etc. The living room has an odd setup- the sectional sofa is behind the wall mounted TV. Not good for family to watch a game together. Some had to sit on kitchen stools while sectional sat empty. We have stayed in many rental properties in the area, including another managed by Vacasa. This one was not up to the usual standard. Driveway is very steep with sharp turns - this is not mentioned on the Vrbo listing. Vacasa tells you after you pay and get your confirmation. I would not recommend in winter without AWD.

Do not book with Vacasa!

First, the actual house is beautiful! Something missing from the listing is an accurate description of the driveway- I did not find out until I had paid in full that a 4 x 4 or AWD was recommended (absolutely needed). The drive way is gravel and in bad condition. There are large ditches and 2 very sharpe turns. It is terrible! Once we finally made it up the driveway, the code that was given to us didn’t work. We were able to get someone on the phone where 3 more codes proceeded to not work. We were finally directed towards an actual key and finally got in. Someone from the local team was called and we were told they were on the way, about 20 minutes later we got a call from this person who was in fact not coming and promised me he would be out first thing in the morning. Once we got settled in the house, we realize it had not been cleaned. Then we saw the jacuzzi wasn’t working and had a slimy substance coming out of one of the vents. The fire pit didn’t work and the propane tank to the grill and fire pit were empty. We talked with someone at Vacasa who kept telling us that someone from the local team would be out as soon as possible. We arrived on a Friday and checked out on a Monday- no one ever came or followed up with us. After 7 days of talking to someone at Vacasa (bc we are waiting on the local team)- today I get a text that this local team is only willing to refund me $99, which is 1/2 of the cleaning fee. Terrible customer service!

Poor property management!

Even though the house, property, and location were nice, we were very disappointed with the property management's response to problems which affected our vacation stay. We have rented many properties in the past utilizing various management companies, and have never experienced the disappointment we had with Vacasa! We rented the house in high season for 4 nights for 10 people. When we arrived, we immediately noticed that we had only 7 bath towels and 2 hot tub towels, and not enough blankets for each of the beds. In addition to this, the fireplace in the main room was not working, one of the table chairs in the main area had a leg that was about to fall off, and the shuffleboard table had no sand, which made the table useless and unplayable. Also, the master bedroom tv was not working. We contacted the local Vacasa management company the first night we arrived, and was told someone would come out. No one came! We contacted them again on the second evening and were told someone should have come already, and they would escalate the call and send someone out immediately. Again, no one ever came! One we left, we called the national Vacasa Agency and was told someone would get back to us within 36 hours regarding our concerns. Still, no response! We feel that since Vacasa had the full payment for the property, they didn't care about customer satisfaction at all. In the future, we will go out of our way NOT to rent properties managed by Vacasa!
