We had a very good experience with this property and the owner. Excellent location, clean with comfortable beds. Will definitely try to stay here again if in the area!
My wife, son, and I took a mini vacation to West Texas to hike in the Davis Mountains and Big Bend National Park. We wanted to stay somewhat central to the two so we decided on Alpine and are so happy that we did. Mr. Stovell’s place was PERFECT for what we needed. We enjoyed our stay and made lasting memories. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area!
Great property. Rental had everything we needed for our week long stay. Beds were comfortable. Spacious hot shower was welcome. Loved the indoor/outdoor feel of the living spaces… great for relaxing. Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The host was friendly and available if needed. Well be back.
Convenient location in Alpine with easy access to BBNP, the Davis Mountains and Marfa. Property was as described and shown in the VRBO online listing. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay at Prairie's Cottage and would definitely choose this guesthouse again. The location across the street from the park worked well for us. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We especially enjoyed the large widows with the "forest" view.
We had a wonderful stay at Mr. Bob‘s Prarie’s Cottage. We were surprised by so much space and the number of beds. The kids spent some time in the back yard with their scooters. We walked to the city park several times. The location is perfect for a walk or quick drive to an Alpine Cowboys game, to the park or the city pool. We went all over the area, with Prarie’s Cottage as our home base.
We had a special visit with Mr. Bob in the back yard, accompanied by little Dolly. We had actually met shortly before we moved away from the area. It was good to catch up and learn about his other VRBO offerings on the same property.
We hope to make this our home away from home when we come back for annual visits to the area.
The perfect location and comfort we needed.
We enjoyed our home away from home . We loved seeing the deer on the golf course in the morning and the relaxing backyard in the evening. We will definitely return again
We loved our stay at Prairies Cottage. The property was clean and comfortable, check in information was communicated early and was very easy! We didn’t have tons of time to use the backyard but the kids explored it and it looked like it would be awesome if you have kids and want to be sure they are safe and having fun outside while you make dinner (or while eating dinner!). We have three kids and they loved all sleeping in the one room together! Made an excellent place to stay while we explored Big Bend!
The property was excellent clean and had every convenience. It was close to the golf course and Big Bend National Park was an hour away
We relaxed in the back yard with a fire and read and enjoyed the back yard
The owner was an excellent host and showed us every courtesy
I would come back again
We’ve stayed here a couple of times now and we enjoy it. The place is always kept up nice and it’s in a very convenient location. The host communicates effectively and is prompt at responding.
Alpine is a charming town and a very safe neighborhood. Enjoyed the large park-like back yard. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer, more generous, accommodating host. Thanks Bob!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property, in Alpine. It is a wonderful place from where we can visit Big Bend State and National Parks.
Excellent property and communication with our host made our stay memorable. We were with our full family (grand parents, parents, children) and we felt at home here.
Comfortable, functional, cozy, and clean! We had seven people from 77 years to 7 years old and it was a wonderful experience. Bob was quick to respond to questions and needs. The location is ideal for visiting many destinations in the area. And the place is laid out and equipped thoughtfully. The large yard was a bonus for getting the kids outside for safe and fun pkaytime. Highly recommended!
We are 3 gray-haired long-time friends who ride motorcycles and have a traditional ride to the Big Bend area each year in November or December. This space was perfect for us with enough beds for each of one as we get the creepy-crawlies when thinking of sharing beds. This will be our "go-to" location in the future for our traditional ride.
This property was very nice, clean, and comfortable. It's more spacious than it seems in the pics and we loved that there was a community pool nearby. We would definitely stay here again if we're ever in the area!

I have spent 44 of my 81 years in Alpine. I grew up here and after marrying lived and worked in Lubbock, Ft. Worth, El Paso, and Denver. Returning to Alpine in 1996, I managed the Godbold Feed Mill in Marfa until my retirement in 2001. This Airbnb is a new venture that I took over in 2022.
