Location, location, location!

The Robert Louis Stevenson Suite is a luxury apartment with unprecedented views of Edinburgh Castle. Located just 2 minutes from the iconic Princes St on the corner of George St (lots of shopping, bars and restaurants) and North Castle St, the apartment is in the heart of the New Town, making it an ideal base for visiting all the main tourist sites of Edinburgh.

The apartment block was one of the first flats to be built in the New Town by James Craig in 1790 and sits directly adjacent to the Edinburgh town house of Sir Walter Scott! For the sake of clarity, the apartment is located on the first floor of the building and from street level there are approx 20 steps (no elevator as one of the first buildings to be erected in "The new Town" and is a listed building). The steps are more gradual and winding than steep and vertical.

The flat opens into a square reception hall providing access to all rooms. To the front of the flat and with a southerly aspect from its twin windows is a magnificent drawing room featuring a gas fire with iron grate and pretty timber mantle, dado paneling and delicate plaster work. A glazed door provides secondary access from the drawing room into a striking breakfasting kitchen fitted with an attractive range of painted timber units topped with thick granite surfaces and incorporating a full range of integrated appliances, including a recessed range cooker set, oven/grill, and microwave as well as a washing machine and full height fridge/freezer.
The bedrooms comprise a generously proportioned master bedroom with a king size bed and dual aspect views towards Edinburgh Castle. This bedroom features secondary double glazing and also benefits from a luxurious en-suite shower room.
The second bedroom is set up with twin beds (can be pushed together to form a double on request) and is served by an equally well fitted family bathroom off the hall.
Larger parties can enquire about our apartment in the same building - The Walter Scott Suite ( same building below this one on the first floor), has the same high spec and stunning views of Edinburgh Castle. Combined, both properties can accommodate up to 8 / 10 people comfortably. It has the same stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and can be made available by special request.

Great property and location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property! Great location! Love that it was right above a pub but far enough away that we didn’t have any noise issues. Was fun to go walk down the stairs and get a cocktail each evening.

Perfect location!

My family and I stayed here for the Christmas and New Year holidays. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The home was very clean and there was plenty of room for the four of us. The apartment matched the pictures that were posted. We were able to walk just about everywhere we wanted to go though it was very easy getting an Uber/taxi if needed. This apartment is in New Town and the walk to the Royal Mile/Old Town wasn't bad. There are lots of restaurants and bars near by and I would recommend making reservations if you are visiting during a busy season. There is actually a bar literally next door to the apartment called Tonic which provides very tasty cocktails. There is also a Co-op/grocery store on Frederick street that was within walking distance that had everything we needed. Morris was very easy to communicate with when we needed to reach out. Overall we were pleased with our stay and I would recommend this apartment to any fellow traveler.

Comfortable home in a great location

Great Location

This unit was in a great location in New Town -- lots of restaurants and bars, great shopping, walking distance to Old Town. The beds in the unit were great, kitchen was sufficient, bathrooms worked well. The owner was great on responding and very nice. But -- Be aware of the staircases to get to the unit - up 6 steps to get to the front door from the street and then another 12 or so, in a circular staircase to get to the unit -- those stairs are short and narrow. Very do-able if you are able bodied, but be prepared when you get there! I believe the owner describes this in the listing, but I didn't really understand the issues until we got there. I would love to give it 5 stars, but for the price, the unit really needs a refresh overall - carpets were thin, stained and torn in one place, the couches were saggy and stained, one of the windows didn't close (so 48 degrees was pretty chilly in the living room!), the kitchen sink dripped and the water heater had some problems too. For the price, it wasn't a great value. But I would stay there again because of the location. And the owner was a delight.

An excellent property situated right in the heart of Edinburgh and close to all forms of public transport. Very well appointed, spacious and comfortable appartment. Should mention two maintenance requirements. There is a small leak coming from the boiler which drips onto the the sink work surface. Also two of the curtains in the master bedroom are coming adrift from the rail and need re-attaching. An excellent stay and would certainly use again. Should mention two

Amazing Location

This property was perfect. The washer and dryer was small and did take a long time but it was much appreciated after traveling for a week. The location was perfect you could see Edinburgh castle right outside the window. We would definitely stay here again. At night you could hear passerbyers talking but it wasn’t too bad, my husband and I didn’t have any issues sleeping,

The location of this historic property could not have been any more central to the major visitor destinations in Edinburgh. The spacious flat was a great fit for our family of four (two adults and two older teenagers).

Spacious apartment in excellent area.

This is a great apartment in that it is spacious, 2 full bathrooms, a large lounge with functioning fireplace, and a spacious kitchen. It’s very comfortable and walking distance to all the main sights of Edinburgh.

Great Location!

Great apartment in a fantastic location! Restaurants, pubs, grocery store and shopping all close by within walking distance and stunning views of the castle. Very comfortable apartment in the most convenient area

We really enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The beds were comfy. The living room is spacious. The location is fantastic. We walked everywhere but if you need a taxi they come when scheduled via the number left at the flat. The host was amazingly prompt in messaging at the beginning of our stay when we needed a bit of help. We recommend this rental highly!

Family vacation + TS Eras Tour

Our family of four enjoyed staying here for a few days. The apartment was clean and nice, perfect location, and Morris was super helpful. It was nice to have plenty of space to spread out and a kitchen to use. My daughter and I went to the Taylor Swift concert. The dining table was a great place to make our friendship bracelets. We were grateful for the hairdryers and curling iron in the apartment! The apartment location made it very easy to get to all the wonderful sights of Edinburgh. Hope to come back soon!

What a View!

Morris is an excellent host. Quality amenities and clear/concise communications. Everything was as promised. Beds were very comfortable, everything was verqy clean. Very walkable, with plentiful restaurants all around. We enjoyed seeing the castle lit in the evening. Coffee shop directly across the street with excellent pastries, hot drinks and milkshakes. Co-Op grocery short block walk away.

We had a week in Edinburgh before heading to a wedding in England The location was perfect, within walking distance to the castle. Quiet street and even a gin bar next door to end our day. Plenty of room with a nice kitchen and roomy bathroom. But, the furniture was a little worn, lots of stains, nicks etc and a broken ceiling chandelier in the second bedroom . Some TLC is needed for the price. Apart from that it was a great stay.

Great location but…

The location was perfect. We could see the castle from the one bedroom window which was nice. Know that you will hear the bar below the property late at night but that was not a big deal for us. Things that could be better or noted is the wifi is almost non existing. It is there but we could do anything in it and tried several times super slow and had to be in the kitchen to get a strong signal, finally gave up. The TV setup was very confusing had to purchase batteries for the five different remotes so they would work only to find out the setup box had a menu but no subscription to anything so turned it off and watch Netflix which was the only streaming service available as it’s a super old TV…. Bottom line you get a shell of a place in a great location without anything that is now fairly standard like body soap for the shower, bring extra towels. This could be a fantastic place with some upgrades so you don’t have to bring everything yourself… 😉

Cozy Flat in a Great Location

Flat was very spacious and comfortable. The host provided a helpful how-to-guide which was very useful though coming from the U.S. we did have to figure out how to power on the refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher which were without power when we arrived. Despite the cool, rainy weather we had a great stay and would consider again if we come back to Edinburgh.
