We enjoyed our stay at Nancy and Paul's cabin near North Conway. We were in the area to visit Storyland with our two young children ages 3 and 5. It was about a 15 min drive to Storyland and only a few minutes to restaurants in North Conway.
From the front door of the cabin, it is a few steps down to the first floor with 3 bedrooms and bathroom (with tub/shower) and a few steps up to the top floor with an open kitchen/dining area/living area. The first floor is partly below ground, keeping this space cooler, and each room does have a window. (No a/c: There is a ceiling fan in the living room and adding a fan in each bedroom might be helpful for warmer evenings.) It was really helpful to have linens included with the rental. There were lots of great touches. For example, I had forgotten my shampoo and was pleased to see some available.
The kitchen is well stocked with a selection of pots/pans, utensils, plates/bowls as well as spices, olive oil, tea, sugar, aluminum foil, etc...There were even 3 children's bowls and a plate. There is a Keurig and we brought our own Kcups. All appliances worked well (oven, toaster, microwave, dishwasher.) Open to the kitchen is an island dining table with a few counter height stools. With younger children these can be tricky, but there were a few with backs that worked fine for us.
The living room area had comfortable 3 person and 2 person couches and a rocking chair. There were a few games that are more for older children, but my children were curious about them, like scrabble, dominoes, battleship and mancala. I saw there were a few dvds, but mostly for older kids or adults. We didn't use the TVs (living room or master bedroom), but we did find it really useful to have Wifi available.
The wood floors upstairs are really beautiful, but a bit squeaky if you are in the downstairs bedrooms. We travel with white noise machines anyway, but something to know ahead of time if you are putting younger children to sleep and then using the kitchen/dining area. (The living room is above the master bedroom.) Other notes for families with young kids: the stairs are carpeted, there is one baby gate available, there weren't too many things we needed to move out of reach, the transfer station is about a 15 min drive.
We really enjoyed our stay at this quiet cabin right by Cathedral Ledge and Diana's Baths waterfall area and convenient to Storyland. Our children didn't want to leave and we hope to visit again soon.
