More like a tired college apartment

I was really looking forward to this stay, having booked it six months in advance based on the 4.9 rating and 200 glowing reviews. It was close to my daughter’s house and seemed like the perfect spot. Sadly, it ended up feeling more like a tired college dorm apartment than a well-reviewed vacation rental. The unit was just okay on arrival—nothing special. Right away, we noticed small but frustrating issues: a broken lamp, a dirty and torn rug, no basic supplies (no coffee, filters, cleaning spray, or ice maker). Normally these might be minor, but for that price for 3 nights, I expected better.Things got worse that night when we discovered black mold on the ceiling, a wobbly glass shower door, and a sofa with two broken legs. I contacted the office right away, but repairs had to wait until the next day. Joseph, the manager, was kind and responsive—he came out, wiped the mold, fixed the door, and brought coffee. He really did his best to make things right. But overall, this unit is just tired. The layout is cramped—you have to walk sideways to get around the bed. There are no dressers to unpack, and the TV is oddly mounted about 9 feet up, above the doorway. The mold under the shower caulking was unsettling, and finding a spider in the bed didn’t help.Joseph offered a credit for one night & half off another, which I appreciated. But it was still a disappointing experience. This unit doesn’t live up to the property's reviews and clearly not all units are created equal.
