Gary met us and showed us around. He kept in touch all weekend with great recommendations. The house is cozy and has everything you need. The view from the lake is beautiful.
Clean, quiet, peacful. Owner was great, met us upon arrival with a pizza in the oven! Pet friendly was great. Property location was perfect, very relaxing atmosphere. Loved the dock and the juke box! Will definitely come back!
Beautiful, quiet, peaceful location very close to Bethel Woods. In a private, family-oriented neighborhood, right on the lake. Very rustic accommodations and a working jukebox! Hosts provided excellent communication and a warm welcome at check-in. They even had a pizza in the oven for us upon arrival!
Wanted to visit the Woodstock 1969 site and travelling with dogs. This place fit the bill, it’s rustic but has everything you needed and view from the front porch over the lake is great. Owner was easy to get a hold of and responded quickly. Pizza and wine on day of arrival was nice touch, and didn’t need to worry about finding food after day of travelling.
We had a wonderful stay @ this beautiful listing!! Gary is a fantastic & friendly host who thinks of everything! Our stay couldn’t have been lovelier!!!
We had a great long weekend away. The house is located in a cute lakeside neighborhood with lots to do nearby. Gary was a great host. He greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the property. He checked up throughout the weekend and gave us great recommendations for things to do.
The room was adorable! Gary was amazing! Would highly recommend him! Water was hot, porch was a great view, wood was provided for the fire, sheets were clean, etc etc. great trip! A++
This place is a quaint house on a beautiful lake! Gary the host met us at the house with a pizza cooking in the oven. Gary and his wife are great hosts, he even offered to help us get the boat in the lake. Will definitely be going back, hopefully during the fall foliage, I'm sure it's breathtaking that time of year!!
Cute home overlooking a beautiful lake! Peaceful and chill area. The home is adorable, comfortable and the deck is the bomb. Big, private, and great views! Everything you need and a jukebox! Also lovely hosts nearby. ☮️❤️🎶
Hosts met us with the key and a pizza in the oven.
The jukebox was fun.
We caught a lot of fish.
Visit Big Kev's BBQ.
This would be an excellent guys' bonding get-away location. It is a rustic cabin built in 1913. Reminded us of summer camp!
The neighbors are friendly and there is just enough to do in the area to be entertained but not overwhelmed. (Food, antiques, parks, Woodstock)
Very cute cabin with amazing lake view. Loved sipping coffee on the front porch while watching the sun come up on the lake. Gary met us with the key and had already got a fire going in the fireplace and a pizza in the oven. Rustic cabin with small kitchen which had the basic necessities you might need. Beds were comfortable and portable heater was a nice touch in the bedroom as the weather was starting to get cool at night. Nice assortment of information on Bethel and surrounding area (really appreciated the map!). We would definitely stay again, if we come back to the area. Booking and communicating with Gary was easy.
Gary was a wonderful host who welcomed us to this cabin, right on the Lake, with a pizza and good old fashioned hospitality. We were tired from our travels and had a huge load of washing to do and Gary was very accommodating and helpful in allowing us to use nearby facilities. The cabin is rustic and enjoyable to be in. Great reclining couch chairs. Gary had set a fire for us too, such a great guy. The juke box was fun to play and listen to some fantastic music and we also visited the nearby Woodstock museum, which was amazing. Beautiful views, walks along the lake, sunrise and local wildlife. A highlight of our travels. Thanks Gary.
We're avid kayakers with two large dogs (Briards) and this house was very convenient for launching our boats and getting the dogs in and out for a swim in
the beautiful lake off its really nice dock.
It's also a short drive to the boat launch are at the wonderful Basha Wildlife Refuge and its 3,000 acre wetland where Painted Turtles bask everywhere and Bald Eagles almost seem to pose for pics as you kayak by.
The Neversink Gorge trailhead was also a short drive with miles of hiking trails (be sure to stop at Mullet Brook Falls, an absolutely beautiful site!!!). Garter snakes and toads were observed along the trail and frogs and butterflies were observed down at the river (near Denton Falls).
The beds were comfortable and the shower was great (plenty of hot water with far better pressure than houses we've rented in the past). The porch, which overlooks the lake, was the perfect place to unwind and have a relaxing dinner (if you bring your own charcoal grills like we do for dietary reasons, make sure to set them up on the gravel driveway in front of the house rather than out the back door where the neighbor up the hill and across the street behind the house will fear you'll start a forest fire). The juke box, with its speakers on the porch, was stocked with tons of CDs to choose from from every genre. The adjacent neighbors and those we met walking our dogs along the road were all friendly.
Quaint, Quiet and Comfortable Place to Put Your Feet Up for a Couple of Days
The cottage is located in a very, very quiet area beside White Lake in a private development, just about two miles from Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
The building itself is a traditional "old timey lake cottage" with knotty pine planked walls, bedrooms whose curtained closet "doors" hide extra blankets and pillows. The decor includes a menagerie of items including wall hangings, knickknacks, mermaids, harpoons, a ruffed grouse lampshade, even an Irish Santa Claus hoisting a mug of beer. The kitchen, bedrooms, and bathroom are functional in size but not huge. The two twin beds and queen bed are comfortable enough. The living room is big enough for dancing, and the juke box with its hundreds of "free play" songs makes that an inviting proposition. The cabin is not a 21st century "beach house" showpiece; rather, it harkens back to the '50s and '60s with a cozy, unpretentious, "We're just relaxing here" vibe to it. In other words, you won't feel bad if you track in a little dirt or drop a slice of pizza on the floor. While it features a big screen TV with cable, we were so cozy just relaxing in the living room or on the porch looking out to the lake we never turned it on. After our long drive from Michigan, we appreciated the laid back comfort of this cottage.
