Beautiful House Overlooking Lost Creek Wilderness

At the end of a 2 mile gravel mountain road, custom built, full view of mountains and river valley, private. This 2010 house has nothing behind it except mountains and forest. Look down the property to the Pike National Forest and to the North Fork of the South Platte River below. There is mountain hiking on the property and all around the area with fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing nearby. There are only four other houses at the end of this road. This property does not just have views--it is in the 360 degree view. You are a part of the scenery. With 7.4 acres touching the Pike National Forest just go out the back door and view the beauty of the Colorado Rockies. This property welcomes writers, artists, lovers, hikers, anglers, and all those who want a special retreat away from life's stresses and the hustle-bustle of city life. Better hurry, we are BOOKING UP FAST for the whole year.

Retreat: If you want to get away from Denver for a long weekend, or stay for a month as you write a novel, Big Rock Mountain House welcomes you to a brand new, modern, gorgeous mountain home that is casual, comfortable and custom designed to be a contemporary cabin experience. You will be surrounded by nature, tall pines, firs, wild large and small animals. You can hear the sound of water rushing from the rapids of the North Fork of the South Platte River far below you, or the wind rustling through the forest. Go to the bottom of the property, look up, and see that you are literally on a BIG ROCK. Sit in the 8 person spa under the stars. Take a bath in the 6 foot 7 jet spa for two located in the master bath, look out the window and have a glass of wine. Sit on the balcony and look at the 180 degree mountain views. Rock on the back patio in huge log rockers or relax on a lounger.

Hikers and Anglers Welcome: The house overlooks The Lost Creek Wilderness. Hike the property--on one side, climb down the rock outcrop. On the other side, climb through a dense alpine forest to the plateau below overlooking the river valley. There are many other places to hike. Hike to South Twin Cone Peaks, Platte Peak, Payne Benchmark. Take a drive and go to Kenosha Pass, Windy Peak, The Castle, The Taryall Mountains, Puma Peak, or Mount Evans Wilderness to name a few. Anglers can fish in the river below but access is from Bailey and must be on public land. Or you can go to Pine, Shawnee, Boxwood Gulch, Blue River, Long Meadow, Chatfield Reservoir or many other fishing holes near and far. For details, check with The Knotty Pine in Bailey.

Great place for a vacation

The place was beautiful and the view was amazing. Great place to relax and the hot tub at the end of a day of hiking was an awesome way to unwind. Waking up to the mountains always set the day off perfect. Great place to stay. Definitely keeping this on my list for future stays.

Couples Getaway

Highly recommend! The house was beautiful and clean with amazing views. Definitely recommend a larger vehicle to get to the house since it’s a bit bumpy but we had a small car and survived. We would definitely stay here again!

Breathtaking

This house is clean, well appointed and in a beautiful location. There was a fox den with kits nearby, There is much to explore in the area, but it was very hard to leave the house. The quiet was enjoyable and a perfect getaway. We would love to return to this VRBO.

Another great stay

Second time we stayed here and everything was clean and well maintained. Great view. Internet was a little slow through satellite, but to be expected on location. Could still stream through Roku. Direct TV onsite.

Great house, great view, convenient to numerous natural sights. Excellent for a relaxing vacation.

Property was well kept and was well stocked with items normally needed in a vacation home. Everything that a family would want for a summer or winter vacation was available. Sleds, badminton, pool, darts, all kinds of board games. You name it it was there. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for relaxing get away.

Beautiful views

We loved every minute of our stay. The house is very comfortable and the views are amazing. We hiked around the house and enjoyed the hot tub during a snowfall. We drove to Breckenridge and skiied/snowboarded one day. Sherrie and Sean were very welcoming and made sure that we felt right at home. We hope to return soon!

Great location, amazing views!

Came from NC to see Billy Strings at Red Rocks and wanted a great place to stay. This place exceeded my expectations! Absolutely immersed in the mountains, we got to wake up every morming to a beautiful landscape. It even snowed one day in the middle of May(we don't get that in NC). The house was also very clean and the owner had everything ready for us. If I ever come back to CO, I would definitely rent this house again!

SPECTACULAR!

This house is amazing. They views from this property are breathtaking! The owners are awesome and this house has everything you could ever need. We will ABSOLUTELY stay here again, in fact a friend of ours that came up to visit while we were there and lives in Denver took all the info to book this for all her family at Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for an amazing getaway Jaron and Jeffery!

Beautiful Home in a Beautiful Secluded Area

We stayed at this gorgeous home about 1 week ago and the location was perfect! It felt as if we were the only ones on the hill side but it wasn't so remote that we couldn't enjoy a trip into town every now and then. The home was very spotless and the spa was brand new. Don't be deterred or overwhelmed by all the rules as this is why the home remains so neat and clean. We all would definitely stay here again!

Awesome secluded mountain retreat

We have stayed in multiple rental homes in the mountains. This property definitely ranks as a favorite...beautifully decorated, had everything we needed for cooking and entertainment, clean. Awesome mountain views, beautiful sunsets, great hiking, and about an hour from our trips for horseback riding, whitewater rafting, ATV rides, shopping in Breckinridge or Golden, etc. We had 8 stay in this house and we all fit comfortably. Thanks for your hospitality, Jaron!

Great Family Vacation

We stayed a little over a week and were very comfortable with 6-8 people. The owner was very helpful with directions, instructions and making sure our needs were met. His restaurant advice was on point as well. We got some fabulous family pictures that we will treasure forever. The kids hiked several times. Only drawback was the long dirt road leading to the house which was fully disclosed and not a deal breaker.

Big Rock Mountain House

Two years ago, we stayed here and enjoyed it so much, we decided to come again. Was a little worried that the second time might not quite live up to the first but it actually exceeded our expectations and was every bit as good as we remembered it, maybe even better! Love the beautiful views and the home is extremely comfortable. Drove to Vail for lunch. Breakfast at Cutthroat Café down the road. Hiked down behind the house and to the top of Mount Bailey. Trip went by far too quickly and we already look forward to returning one day.

Amazing views!

First time staying at a mountain house and I along with friends were absolutely blown away by the views. The first day driving in was difficult because of a snow storm leaving behind ice on the roads. 4wheel drive is a must! The home was clean and the fireplace along with the hot tub got plenty of use. Don't expect extreme internet speeds here considering you are in the wilderness but it's fast enough to check emails and get work done.

Perfect Choice

We loved everything about this mountain home! Our overall first impression was this place is stunning….then after a day you really appreciate the details. The lighting fixtures, the quality of the windows, the placement of the master shower windows. I can’t remember the last time I had a sunrise in the shower! The landscaping was beautiful. The kitchen was so well stocked we just bought the basics, milk, orange juice, eggs, bacon, etc. The oven was wonderful the coffee/drink bar was fun. At night, the outside lighting was beautiful. Bailey was a great location for a home base. There are very comfortable swivel club type chairs in the living room. In the morning you can have a cup of coffee and swivel around to one of the huge windows and have an amazing view. Just a beautiful property that has thought of everything!!

About the host

I have always loved Colorado. We use to drive for 16 hours when I was in college just to spend a long weekend in the mountains. When my kids were growing up, we would all go and everyone loved the change of scenery from the hills of Central Texas to the majestic Rockies. When I told my family 'I don't know why I bought land and built a house in Colorado', my daughter reminded me 'Dad, you love Colorado, we always went there as kids'. It made perfect sense to her. I do love Colorado and so will you.

Why they chose this property

Incredible. Overlooking the Lost Creek Wilderness with 180 degree unobstructed views of National Forest. Yet, only 1 hour from the big city and 1 hour and 20 minutes from downhill skiing. You can't find beauty like this just anywhere.

What makes this property unique

7.4 acres of mountain property in a natural wilderness area with all the amenities of a modern home. Clean air, quiet, nature all around.
