House was excellent, location not so much

First off I want to say that the house was very nice inside! The owner was very accommodating and the home had everything that you could ask for in a VRBO. Pots and pans, soap, shampoo, towels, and amenities you name it, they provided it, which was great. I’m reluctant to leave this review because the home and homeowner were very nice to work with and the bad review that I’m leaving has to do with the location alone. It is just not safe. The house next to us was vacant and had numerous homeless people coming and going. We heard numerous gunshots outside the house on the second day and had to report it to the police because we did not feel safe loading our vehicle. I would not recommend this home to families especially. To be fair the area looks like they are trying to revitalise it but it is just not there yet. My hope is that eventually the area improves because I hate that such a beautiful house and such an accomodating host has to lose business because of the crime in the area.

Family getaway

House was clean with the exception of a few “clean” towels still had hair in them. Host was great with communication and responding to any issues we had. Bathroom is located off of kitchen with a sliding door. Bad location. Nextdoor neighbor came out and let it be known that we had to park all three vehicles behind the house in the garage which ideally was for two vehicles. He claimed to own the property that we were renting for two days and stated that him, his wife and daughter needed the parking spaces in front. (Which were all public street parking btw) Never mind the fact that we had to park in front in order to get in the house and retrieve the garage door opener. But how do you restrict someone from parking in front of a property that they’re paying for? That’s public parking to begin with? Anyways, overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Stay in the Soul of St. Louis

We absolutely loved our trip to St. Louis. We tried to find a location that kept us in the heart of St. Louis and near all the attractions we wanted to see. It's just blocks from Soulard St. & Budweiser Brewery and a10–15-minute drive to the Arch, City Museum, Zoo, The Hill or Union Station. There were a couple hiccups with the home & items functioning correctly, but the owner was very quick to answer questions and make things right. We especially liked having a garage door to secure our vehicles in the fenced-in area at night. Although the urban heart & soul of St. Louis is what we were looking for there are a few homes in this area that are dilapidated & in the process of being renewed. Don't let that scare you away. We had zero issues with anyone living around us and would book this property again.

Great apartment in quiet, urban neighborhood

I stayed here for Memorial Day weekend with some friends and one, 40year old child. The home is beautiful; exactly as it looks in the listing. The beds are huge, comfy, and clean. We loved the living room and kitchen! We were traveling all over STL, visiting downtown, Soulard, Tower Grove, and Cherokee street (which is near by - about a 5 minute drive). It's a great location if you have a car. Not much to walk to nearby. Uber Eats offered some cool options when we got rained in. We struggled with the dishwasher, which wasn't working and smelled bad when we opened the door. Reported it to the owner, but not sure if it was ever fixed. Yes, I'd stay here again with a group. Lots of space, beautiful surroundings, and enclosed parking are all pluses. And, it is very, very clean.

Great space!

The property was just like the pictures. Check on was very easy. The rooms we're very spacious. There was wnough room for our entire family during our stay. The garage in the back was a plus to fit our 2 vehicles so we didnt have to park on the street. The only thing i didnt like was the bathroom curtains are see through I would definitely recommend those being changed for privacy when undressing. The kitchen space was enough for us to move around without being on rop of each other. We had an issue with the couch and the dishwasher but it was taken care of within the hour of me contacting our host. He was very responsive. We needed to add on an additional day and he helped us right away. My family and I will definitely stay here again in the future. It felt like a home away from home.

St Louis Vacation

Our first time in St Louis. Great property but the neighborhood was a little iffy. Very inner city. Obviously a neighborhood going through some regentrification. Close to downtown and what we came to see. Very comfy beds. Great pillows. It worked perfect for us.

Beautiful home

This property is in a great location for proximity to many different venues in St. Louis. We stayed with our family of 6 adults and 3 children under 2. The beds were comfortable and bedrooms spacious. The kitchen is large and a great space to be able to cook meals and have room for 6 people to sit together. The living room is quite small to accomodate this many people with room on the couch for 3 people a padded bench and bar stools from the bar. We had toddlers with us so of course much time was spent on the floor but comfort was not key here. The picture is very clear, what you see is exactly what you get for seating. The place is updated and fresh but for practicality it is a bit lacking. The house very much welcomes young children with a highchair and pack and play crib readily available but with a slider barn door without a latch for the bathroom that is adjacent to the kitchen and the bedroom door with no latch to keep the door closed the asthetics outway the practicality. Previous posts also listed the excessive nighttime lighting being an issue. It appears that a remedy has been attempted to alieviate the excess light by putting blackout curtains in the front windows only. However, the street is incredibly well lit by a business on the corner and the windows in the house are extremey large and on the side of house so it is actually light enough to read without an indoor light in bed at night. Night noises ie. sirens are expected in a downtown location, this location has it's fair share with a hopsital only 2 miles away it was a busy place on this holiday weekend. Off street parking is a plus. It is not an enclosed garage but it is locked to the ally and a great place to get your vehicle off the street. The host is extremely reposnsive to all messaging. I contacted Walter before our trip and asked some specific questions. He responded within minutes. Upon our arrival we had a few questions and again he responded within minutes with a solution. The dishwasher did not work and we notified Walter of this. We didn't expect a repair during our stay, and asked about a stopper for the sink. He had insta cart deliver a new stopper within an hour. He definately does his best to accomodate. We would stay here again but might bring some of our own throw pillows to accomodate seating on the floor in the living room.

Enjoyed our stah

We enjoyed our time at this property. Wally is a good host and it is recently renovated and very well kept. Like most of south St Louis, it is in a neighborhood that is undergoing revitalization and still has abandoned buildings around. We met some of the neighbors and they were very kind. Our only criticism is that the windows need blinds as the curtains aren’t sufficient.

I was born in Guatemala and I have lived here most of my life. My family and 2 dogs are most important to me.

Mi casa es su casa - It's an old Spanish saying meaning - My house is your house. We want you to feel at home.

I'm Wally, and I want to share why I love being a VRBO host in St. Louis, Missouri. For me, hosting isn't just about providing travelers with a place to stay; it's about connecting with people from all over the world and showcasing the warmth, culture, and vibrancy of my beloved city.

St. Louis has been my home for as long as I can remember, and I've always been passionate about sharing its unique character and rich history with others. My family and I reside in a charming, historic home in the heart of St. Louis, right in the lively Soulard neighborhood, known for its lively atmosphere, fantastic music scene, and proximity to some of the city's most iconic attractions.

My journey into hosting began with a deep love for my community. I wanted to open my doors and offer travelers an opportunity to experience St. Louis like a local. I chose VRBO because it allowed me to create a space that felt like a true home away from home.

One of my favorite aspects of hosting is getting to meet people from all walks of life and introducing them to the hidden treasures of St. Louis. I love recommending local restaurants where they can savor the city's unique flavors, music venues to groove to our fantastic jazz and blues, and cultural experiences that allow them to immerse themselves in our rich heritage.

Why they chose this property

I chose St. Louis as the city to host my VRBO property because it holds a special place in my heart. It's not just a location; it's a vibrant, culturally rich, and historically significant city that I've called home for years. Here are some of the reasons why I chose St. Louis to be the backdrop for my VRBO hosting adventure:

Deep Connection: St. Louis is more than just a place to me; it's a part of who I am. I have roots here, and I'm deeply connected to the local community. I wanted to share that connection with travelers and introduce them to the warmth and hospitality that define St. Louis.

Rich History: St. Louis is a city steeped in history, from its role as the Gateway to the West to its vibrant jazz and blues heritage. I wanted guests to have the opportunity to explore this history firsthand, whether it's by visiting the iconic Gateway Arch or experiencing live music in one of our legendary clubs.

Cultural Diversity: St. Louis is a melting pot of cultures and traditions, and I wanted to showcase that diversity. From the eclectic neighborhoods to the culinary scene featuring cuisine from around the world, I knew guests would appreciate the cultural tapestry that St. Louis offers.

Warmth and Hospitality: St. Louisans are known for their friendliness and welcoming spirit. I wanted to embody that spirit as a host, ensuring that every guest who stays in my VRBO property experiences the warmth and hospitality that the city is known for.

Local Gems: St. Louis is full of hidden gems, from charming coffee shops to art galleries and parks. I wanted to introduce guests to these local treasures and help them discover the city's best-kept secrets.

Proximity to Attractions: St. Louis offers easy access to a wide range of attractions, including the Gateway Arch, Forest Park, the St. Louis Zoo, and more. I wanted guests to have the convenience of staying in a central location that allows them to explore all that St. Louis has to offer.

What makes this property unique

My VRBO property in St. Louis is truly unique for several compelling reasons:

Historic Charm: This property exudes historic charm, as it's a beautifully restored historic home nestled in one of St. Louis's most picturesque neighborhoods. Guests have the opportunity to stay in a place that reflects the city's rich architectural heritage.

Location, Location, Location: The property is ideally situated in a prime St. Louis location, offering easy access to a wealth of attractions. Whether it's the iconic Gateway Arch, Forest Park, the vibrant neighborhoods, or the city's renowned dining scene, everything is just a stone's throw away.

Spacious Comfort: With ample space for guests to spread out and relax, my property ensures comfort and convenience. It's perfect for families, groups of friends, or business travelers seeking room to unwind and recharge.

Modern Amenities: While maintaining its historic charm, the property is equipped with modern amenities to make guests' stays comfortable. This includes a fully-equipped kitchen, high-speed internet, and all the conveniences of home.

Local Recommendations: As a passionate St. Louis resident, I'm dedicated to providing guests with a curated list of local recommendations. Whether it's the best local restaurants, cultural attractions, or hidden gems, guests can trust they're experiencing the city like a local.

Attentive Host: As a dedicated VRBO host, I'm committed to ensuring my guests have a memorable stay. I'm readily available to assist with any questions or needs, offering a personalized touch that sets this property apart.
