We enjoyed the stay. The house was exactly as described and in a great location. It was minutes away from the McCauley Mountain and downtown Old Forge.
My wife and I travelled to Old Forge for a weekend in snow country. Our stay at the Guide Cottage served our needs well. It was clean and comfortable. It was within walking distance of downtown. Although not fancy, it had everything we needed at a very reasonable price.
This property is a great place to stay, and the property manager/owner is very easy to communicate with. Will definitely be returning to this property.
Really enjoyed staying here! The house was clean and comfortable, and the owner was easy to communicate with. We spent most of our time running around enjoying the great outdoors , but we were happy to come home to this house.
Life long friends joined us for a three day getaway. We just hung out and hiked and visited. Had a great time watching the local deer stop traffic!

We rented this house for the weekend of Snodeo in Old Forge. The house is conveniently located and is within walking distance to the restaurants and bars. We had a vendor booth at the Snodeo show so we didn't spend much time at the house but it worked out perfectly for what we needed. Communication with the host was excellent.
Well let’s start out by when we get there the back door is unlocked. Once we are inside there’s a terrible smell not sure if it’s the garbage can or could be propane smell from stove. We set garbage can outside the next morning come back later that day smell still there!!! So it’s suppose to sleep six there’s only 3 towels to use ( I brought my own thank goodness) and the towels smell terrible not one of the four used them. We ended up leaving Saturday for a 21/2 drive home didn’t feel comfortable in house to stay another night.house needs lots of work!!!
Couldn't be more convenient for a stay in Old Forge
Walking distance to so many things in Old Forge, and a mere 5 minute drive from McCauley made this great for a family visit for cross country skiing (although it was less than 5 degrees for half of the stay so we didn't actually walk anywhere in town). The Guide's Cottage is clean and cozy on sub-zero winter nights. While it is a house built in a different era, the remodels have made it a reasonable family space and it seems to "have good bones." We made several meals and the kitchen had everything we needed (just remember to pack a hand towel or two for the kitchen).
