Just the sweetest cabin for a little romantic weekend away. Observation tower is close and an easy hike, beautiful church with a 5 minute drive to climb, tons of hiking and swimming and biking. Close to town for some good coffee and food. Wonderful wonderful little place.
Hartford is such a nice little town, and the house is nestled just outside of it, tucked into the woods. An absolutely perfect location, especially with how close it is to so many trails & Pike Lake. A perfect relaxing getaway! We love it here!
We had a great time in this cozy cabin! We loved the Ice Age Trail, Pike Lake and comfortable furniture! Thanks for a wonderful experience in Hartford!
We were in town visiting family and this was perfect for my family. Will definitely check this out again in the future. We were there in the winter, but we’d love to come back when the weather would permit trying out the fire pit.
The Middle House was lovely and cozy! Our favorite part was the patio - enjoying conversation and nature. We watched a fawn for quite some time in the wooded area adjacent. The property had everything we needed (good cookware, plenty of dishes, comfy beds), and the owners were wonderful with local recommendations! Highly recommend!!
This is a lovely cabin conveniently located near Pike Lake and the Ice Age Trail. Perfect for our family with young children! You do have to provide for your own crib.
Knowing this was once a rustic cabin what the host has done with the property is truly impressive. Set on a hill in a leafy setting that is very private. Kitchen is well equipped and beds comfortable. While small it was perfect for the two of us. Nearby is Pike Lake State Park. If you are hiking don't miss the trail to Powder Hill to climb to the observation tower to get the view of the lake and the surrounding Kettle Moraine countryside.
We were looking for something with a woodsy feel, but near a town. This was perfect! We loved the little town of Hardford - and really nice trails in the area as well. We had great weather and spent a lot of time in the screened in mud room. Saw turkeys and deer!
Matt provided a nice place for us to stay! The Middle House was the perfect location, close to our daughter's wedding venue. Our daughter and her bridesmaids got ready here the morning of the wedding. We made some great memories in this little house! Thank you for the clean, welcoming place.
The Middle House was very clean, comfortable, & well appointed. My cousin & I really appreciated Matt & Mary Jo’s attention to detail in the decor-& how comfortable the beds & all of the furniture were:) The outdoor space-with furniture & a fire pit-& the garage-were also great perks.
The area was quite peaceful-& I believe we saw deer every day of our stay! And our goal of avoiding major fireworks over the 4th of July holiday was achieved-as we only heard minimal bursts, from a distance.
So I would definitely recommend Middle House for a relaxing getaway:)
The property & locations was great, we loved the State Park trails so accessible. The home was amazingly clean, if I hadn’t had other guests mention staying with their dogs in the guest book, I would never have thought anyone had a pet there before, not even a hint of it. The owners had just the right extras to help with your stay in the event you forgot anything.
Matt was very helpful, we had a large snow storm that ended late the night before so we arrived really early the next morning & he had the driveway & sidewalks completely cleared for us. It is so beautiful & peaceful there, we would definitely stay again.
This cabin is recently renovated and very inviting. Even in June, we found we needed to turn on the heat at night. It warmed up very quickly, which is not always the case in an older house. The Kitchen provides all you need to prepare and serve a meal. The owner is very responsive to questions, and even offered to come show us where to pick up the Ice Age trail. We really enjoyed our time here.

Our daughter lives in West Bend so we were looking for place near her. The cabin was very nice. They (daughter) has a 18 month old daughter so outside was not kid friendly. It was all landscape rocks so not good for her. Also when I booked it, the website said Cedarburg, it was in Hartford.
We enjoyed our stay at the Middle House. Recent renovations make this home feel fresh and up to date while still retaining it’s history. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Matt was responsive and easy to work with. The fire pit and outdoor patio was a highlight of our stay. Everything was clean when we arrived and the check in process was easy. We would stay here again.
