This house was the perfect spot for a fun family rendezvous. The house was clean and comfortable but the best thing was the thoughtful extras like plenty of firewood and fire starter for easy campfires, kayaks and tubes for playing on the river and a well stocked kitchen. We will definitely be back again.
Even though we picked the coolest weekend in decades, the house performed accordingly. Also everything was ready and waiting for our late night arrival. Overall and excellent option to consider.
We absolutely loved our stay! Communication was extremely timely and clear prior to booking through check-out. And Lirk was flexible with check-out which we really appreciated which allowed us to enjoy the river before we had to leave. The house was clean and comfortable… fully stocked with everything you might need. Some very thoughtful additions: makeup remover wipes in each bathroom, extra gas tank which we needed for the grill the first night, well stocked with coffee pods if you drink coffee, all the utensils and pots/pans you might need, ziplock bags, washing machine pods, etc. Beds and pillows were all comfortable. The location was quiet, and neighbors friendly. The location to the river was amazing… and we spent time on the river each day. Kayaks and tubes at the house were a nice touch! My boys loved “creeking” on the river each day catching baby fish and crawfish. As we were leaving… my son made sure I “saved” this house so we can return. And we will!
We couldn't have asked for a better place to call home for a week in the Boone area! It's a very pretty drive down a gravel road, eventually crossing over the south fork of the New River and opening up into a community setting with great river access. It's only 15 minutes from Boone but feels like you are going off the grid with the scenic drive - we loved it! The house itself is comfy and beautifully furnished. We enjoyed the openness of the downstairs kitchen and living room along with the covered back deck with a nice view of the river and surrounding landscape. We kept the windows open to enjoy the nice mountain breeze throughout the week. Kirk has thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and was quick to offer suggestions for hikes, dining, etc. Look no further than this peaceful house on the river for your next mountain getaway!
This vacation home was just what we needed! The house is spotless, is well equipped, and is on a beautiful and secluded piece of Heaven. There are games, books, puzzles, and a foosball table. Kirk was quick to respond and is even mailing us some earring we left. We thoroughly enjoyed the kayaks and tubes on the river and enjoyed walking up and down the road in front of the house- spotted many deer, rabbits, ground hogs, birds, and chipmunks right on our road. We also loved Everybody's Loaded Biscuits, Talia’s Coffee, Todd Mercantile and Bakery, Ashe County Cheese, and New River Brewery (excellent food). West Jefferson Park offered an amazing hike and there are many quilt square paintings on old barns along the way. All of these activities are easy to get to and not far away. We’ve staying in many houses near Boone, and this is by far our favorite.
Very nice moderately sized home. Snug for our group of 8 but no one was in another's way. The walk to the water is a little steeper grade than can be seen in pictures but not undoable multiple times a day. The location is far enough away from town for isolation but in its own neighborhood which allows enough traffic that the access is well kept. The host Kirk is exceptional. Maintained contact so that any issues could easily be addressed, but not so much as it diverted us from enjoying out stay.

I grew up in North Carolina and fell in love with the mountains while attending Appalachian State University. I'm fortunate to call Boone, NC home and excited to provide you with an exceptional experience in The High Country!
I'm passionate about the outdoors and an avid explorer. I've thru hiked the Appalachian Trail, The Mountains to Sea Trail, and Paddled the Catawba River system from the Mountains to Ocean. In my free time I can be found tempting local trout, hiking through the lush mountain foliage, or bombing the single track when I'm not planning my next adventure. I'm more than happy to share my favorite spots with you!
Having worked in the short term rental industry for the last 5 years I truly understand the place you choose to stay can make or break your trip. My goal is make your trip the best it can be, so please let me know if there is anything I can do to make your time here remarkable.
