About this property

Vermont Cabin - Ski, Hike, Kayak, Leaf Peep - 5mins to Okemo, near quaint towns

Our home is the perfect getaway, just a 5 minute drive to Okemo Mountain. This 1800s home, has one bedroom on the first floor that overlooks a babbling brook in our back yard. A wall of windows makes you feel like you are sleeping in the woods, but you are only a mile away from the town of Ludlow. Large driveway (that is plowed during large snowfall) plus two extra parking spaces with easy in and out access when snows. The house is on a street that is also plowed - so no worries about getting to the mountain quickly and missing the good snow!

The downstairs is simple living with a kitchen and living room, bedroom and bathroom. There is a pellet stove to keep you warm, and a 65 inch tv hanging above it. Lots of games in the trunk if you'd rather some old fashioned fun. There is also a mini split for heat or air conditioning.

The upstairs is a loft area with two twin beds, a full bed, and a blow up mattress. (The loft overlooks the living room so it is not a good space for very small children. However you could put a pack and play in the bedroom.)

The property is on a quiet, dead end street with friendly neighbors. You can walk just a short way up the street and you're at an open area that is perfect for snow shoeing, or taking a nice long walk through the woods. Some people cross country ski a bit there too. (We have two adult pair of snow shoes you are welcome to use.)

There are plenty of other areas to walk or hike - that are a short distance by car.

The ski mountain of Okemo has activities all year long - concerts, an adventure zone, festivals as well as leaf peeping in the fall with an easy chair lift ride up the mountain. There is also mountain biking on the off-ski season as well.

The town of Ludlow has plenty of restaurants, outdoors stores, gift shops, etc. It's a small town, but has everything you need.

Plymouth State Park / Echo Lake is nearby for kayaking, paddle boarding or lounging by the water or take a ride to learn how maple syrup is made. Drive to Weston, the next town over, to check out the Vermont Country Store and see a show at the playhouse. Manchester is about 40 minutes which has lots of outlet shopping, an Orvis Outlet and an amazing independent bookstore. Woodstock is about 45 minutes away - very quaint, idyllic Vermont town.

The house is simple - so if you are looking for a tricked out house with all the amenities, this is not for you:) If you like the feeling of a rustic cabin, then this is up your ally.

The bathroom has a claw foot type tub/shower that you have to step in and out of. It is higher than a modern tub so not ideal for anyone unsteady on their feet or elderly.

As a family we have enjoyed numerous ski weekends and getaways during other seasons - but we understand the simplicity of our cabin will work for some people and not others and want to be fully transparent, as we want anyone who stays to love the charm and idiosyncrasies of the house and above all truly have a wonderful time!

We are happy to answer any questions you may have to decide if this is a good fit for you!

We were happy with this rental. We were looking for a convenient and affordable option for 4 people (2 kids/parents) to go skiing at Okemo mountain and this property fit our needs well.

Great rustic cabin in a perfect location

Great rustic cabin! I loved the knotty pine! It’s down a quiet road, with a creek running behind it and is very peaceful to be in. My teenager slept upstairs and liked it and the bedroom with the windows is very beautiful watching it snow. The pellet stove is great and the kitchen was a great spot for the family to hang out and chat. All around a very enjoyable visit for our first time skiing in VT as a family and will be part of some great memories we made!

Amazing house and amazing hosts

The hosts were so lovely and accommodating and the place was exactly as pictured. It is an open layout with open loft and just one closed bedroom, but the loft can sleep 8(!) and we just had 2 adults, 2 kids, and a puppy. The pellet stove makes it warm and cozy and it was a 7 minute drive to the mountain. All in, a perfect stay. I would HIGHLY recommend these hosts.

Perfect Getaway

My family and I stayed at this beautiful house for the weekend and fell in love with everything about it! We absolutely loved the rustic feel and the pellet stove was a nice addition to the house. 5 minutes from groceries and 5 minutes to okemo - I would highly recommend this place. The host was amazing and replied to my questions immediately.

Perfect Old School Ski Cabin

Our family of 5 are old hands at renting in Ludlow for skiing. Every place is unique but this cabin is at the top of the list. We ski our faces off all day (and night, too) and loved staying in this cozy, warm, rustic cabin.Kitchen area is spacious, clean, perfectly arranged and a pleasure to cook in. Living room has a sectional couch, amazingly huge tv, and easy to use pellet stove that makes the whole place cozy and really warms up the loft sleeping area. Regular heat source is a modern split system that worked great. It's a legit log cabin with knotty pine paneling. A large back bedroom has a tall ceiling and lots of windows. Very comfortable bed. Loft has beds for 6, and exposed planking and log framing. Loft ceiling is low so watch your head. The cabin is very open. It's easy to hear everything going on so be prepared to make bedtime quiet time for everyone. Other notes- beautiful decor and flexible lighting - glad for the ski boot dryer- bluetooth speaker was nice to have- good internet speed- lots of games and a dart board- no clothes dryer - prepare to go old school with wet ski stuff- no issues at all with any amenities- extra parking if the driveway needs to be plowed - worked great for our 2 minivans- parking very spacious - nice neighborhood and houses far apart- 5 to 7 minute drive to the mountainHostsBy far the nicest, most gracious hosts I've encountered. Provided detailed instructions and were very easy to communicate with.Loved our stay

Relaxing Getaway

We had the best time at this property! The host was very kind, always responded promptly to our questions and went above and beyond recommending local places and making sure we had a great stay. It was wonderful to wake up to the gorgeous view through the huge bedroom windows with the relaxing sounds of the brook that flows through the back of the property. Very well-appointed kitchen-- we cooked at home for most meals and had everything we needed. Very convenient to town (although you can't walk from the property into town because of the highway). We brought our pup and it was very dog friendly with plenty of room to run around and a great little neighborhood to walk her in with some unexpected beautiful nature areas right up the block. We would definitely stay here again if we get a chance to be back in Vermont!
