FABULOUS LOCATION - Just 50 steps to the pool, the hot tub and the BBQ’s and a few more steps to the ocean-front lounge chairs. Grab a cool drink and head out to watch the sun set between Molokai and Lanai. Bring your binoculars for excellent whale watching December to May or use the ones we supply in the condo.
CONVENIENT - Papakea Resort enjoys an outstanding Maui site and our unit is one of the very best locations within the complex. While some people may initially prefer a higher unit hoping for a view, our ground floor unit offers several advantages; the convenience of not climbing stairs or waiting for an elevator several times a day, the ability to go out your lanai door directly to the pool and ocean instead of a trip around the back of the building. The ease of access to the BBQ’s means your food stays hot on the way back to your lanai. Once people try our unit, they seldom go back to a balcony property.

TOP QUALITY - Units in Papakea vary widely in condition. They range from some units that haven’t been updated since the 80’s, to ours which was totally renovated using top quality materials and fixtures. It's frequently mentioned by repeat guest that ours is one of the very best.
• Tile floors throughout for a cool, clean, easy-care environment.
• Cabinets in kitchen and bathrooms of African mahogany accented with exotic Jarra wood. Granite counter tops complete the executive look and feeling of quality.
• This is our vacation home so the kitchen is fully equipped with all the cutlery, gadgets and tools you need.
• Entertainment center features a large flat screen Smart-TV, a DVD player, streaming video for your NetFlix, YouTube or similar account. CD player with iPod dock for your music. Each bedroom also has a TV. All enjoy Spectrum Cable TV services.
• Master suite features a king bed, large vanity with double sinks, a large tiled shower with double shower heads and a “washlet” style toilet popular in upper-class Japanese households.
• Latest technology zone air conditioning. This allows each bedroom and the living room/kitchen to be cooled independently. This not only saves on the environment by allowing less use of the A/C but ensures you can quickly cool your sleeping area for a good night’s rest.
• Second bedroom features a queen bed plus a twin bed. Washroom has a tiled shower and vessel style sink.
• Free wireless internet access throughout the resort.
• All linens including large beach towels are provided.
This is our vacation home, so appliances, kitchenware and amenities are being constantly replaced or upgraded to ensure everyone, renters and owners, enjoy their vacation.


PEACEFUL AND BEAUTIFUL - Papakea is a quiet, well-maintained, family friendly resort that offers the peaceful beauty and an oceanfront location that is the reason people come to Hawaii. Major food store, restaurants and most of the services you want on holidays are within walking distance. Lahaina town is a short 10 minute drive away with the shops and restaurants of Whalers Village half way between.

ACTIVITIES - Lots to do in and around Papakea. The resort features lighted tennis and pickleball courts for guest use, a large well maintained putting green in the central park area right outside your door and various pool and exercise activities such as yoga and fitness instruction in the pool area. (currently on hold due to Covid). Tour arrangements can be made with on-site staff.

Perfect for a family

Beautiful views with very easy access into and around the property. Love the close proximity to ABC Store, food truck court, and other restaurants/shopping. In unit laundry was invaluable with two young kids. Beautifully upgraded kitchen with plenty of plates, cups, etc.

We loved it here! Being ground level was the best! Our 6 & 7 year old could run out and play golf or catch and right off the pool, so super convenient to all the amenities. The sunsets are dreamy and we already miss it. You’ll love it here!

Couldn't have had a better experience!

Everything about our stay in this unit was excellent, from start to finish. It was exactly as described with plenty of space for our family of 5. One of the best features was the fully-stocked kitchen, which made it feel like home. We also appreciated the beach chairs, pool noodles and boogie boards. Looked like there was quite a bit of snorkel gear as well, though we rented ours from a local shop. We stayed over Christmas and I was pleasantly surprised that there was a box of nice decorations and lights that we were able to put up to make it feel more festive. Communication and care from Don was outstanding. The only negative thing that we experienced was the noise from people getting out of the elevator early every morning (It sounded like they were standing over your bed talking, lol). Nothing anyone can do about that though!Honestly, this is just the best unit and Papakea itself was amazing too. Don't hesitate to book, you won't regret it. In fact, we hope to go back some day!!

Great condo!

The condo grounds are beautiful and well cared for! It is in a great location! We had trouble getting the master shower to work. But finally did! The diverter valve was hard to pull out. Other than that everything was great!

Nice Unit at a Good Location

Stayed here for a week with our family of 5. The unit was very comfortable and felt like a second home. The ground floor access was convenient since the pool and ocean were only steps away without needing to take an elevator. The grounds were very well maintained and orderly. We will likely look for the same unit if we return to Maui again. One discrepancy was that the listed resort fee in the description was actually $25/day instead of $17/day.

Great Stay

We had a wonderful stay. The property was clean and comfortable. There was snorkel gear and beach chairs, which was super helpful. Loved the location. Walking distance to stores. The only downside to the property was that although the ocean was a couple hundred yards away from the condo, the beach was non-existent. In order to get good beach access, we needed to walk to the adjacent property. It wasn't horrible, but I little bit of a bummer.

Everything was awesome except for the AC did not work well at all. The room was hotter than outside. I would have given it 5 stars if the AC was cold as Maui was in the high 80s and low 90s when we vacationed.

Happy 20th Anniversary

My husband and I and our best friends both celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this month in Maui. We have stayed at the Papakea in other units before but this is the NICEST one! Love the kitchen cabinets and bathroom tile! Nicely kept, very clean and well-stocked for fun! Plenty of boogie boards and many cooler choices! We appreciate that there was a small stock of spices and a few basics in the kitchen. We did a lot of our cooking each day in the condo after our Costco stop. If you are looking for a nice condo... this is it!

Cozy Condo

This was a nice ground level condo, plenty of room for a family of 4. The grounds were well kept and quite. The condo itself was well equipped with everything we needed, however I would recommend an upgrade on the pots and pans. The condo is located near a elevator which was hard for the light sleeper (me), however I guess if your close the shutters the noise may not be as noticeable, but we enjoyed the breeze over using the AC. All of our issues we had with the condo was taken care of quickly, management was very attentive. Beautiful ocean view at the sea wall and enjoyed eating breakfast on the lanai.

Mixed Emotions

Arrival and check-in was a breeze. Property is beautiful, and the condo itself is great, just as described! Unfortunately, we lost power and all communications due to the wildfires in Lahaina and surrounding area. The property staff did the best they could under the circumstances, and we are forever grateful for them. Thank you to the Host for communicating with us during this difficult stay, and offering his services to make us as comfortable as possible. We were fortunate to get out of the area after just a few days there, but our hearts and prayers are with Maui and it's people. We don't know if/when we will be able to come back to Maui, but if/when we do, I will definitely consider staying here again, hoping for a better overall experience. Mahalo!!

Wonderful Location & Property

I stayed at Don’s until G106 this May with my husband and almost 2 year old daughter. And it was perfect! The condo itself was absolutely great with all amenities and anything you needed to have a comfortable stay. The master bed was extremely comfortable and the unit had a new and excellent working AC system in all rooms. Additionally the beach gear, new kitchen appliances and washer and dryer all worked great! The ground floor unit was ideal to not lug items up and down stairs multiple times a day and extra nice in the evenings to easily walk out to the grills near the pool and watch the amazing sunset and ocean views. The property itself was maintained immaculately and Papakea staff constantly working hard to keep it looking wonderful. The location was walking distance to some smaller beaches and driving distance to the popular ones. Grocery stores and some restaurants near by if you don’t feel like driving although highly recommend a car rental in Maui to get the most of the island.

Perfect family accommodations

This property exceeded our expectations. The condo had everything our family needed: fully stocked kitchen, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, air conditioning, nicely updated kitchen and baths. There was snorkel equipment as well, but we rented our own to use for the week. Being on the ground floor was great; we could sit on the patio for a cocktail in the evening or morning coffee. We are a family of 5 and it was perfect because the second bedroom had both a queen and a twin bed. Papakea is in a great location. It was quick and easy to get to Whalers Village, Lahaina and Kapalua. We visited several amazing beaches within 15 min drive. We could walk to Times grocery store, an ABC Store, food trucks and more. The beds were comfortable, and there were no issues with noise. The grounds of Papakea are well maintained. Tiki torches are lit every night, plenty of grills available to use. We also noticed the workers thoroughly cleaning the grills each day. The owner of this unit was responsive to my questions ahead of our stay. The whole experience was smooth and I highly recommend this property!

Best Choice Ever

This was our first time on Maui, and wont be our last, after a 9 hr flight from Auckland NZ we landed in Honolulu and transferred onto our Maui flight, arriving in Kahului airport the day previously , ( extra day changing hemisphere's) we did have a extended wait at Budget for our rental car (2 1/2 hrs) due to arriving at the beginning of labour weekend, but that very quickly became a distant memory, we arrived at Papakea resort and checked in effortlessly, we were excited to finally see the "real deal" it was exactly what we hoped for, close to the pool, ocean front, central to all the amenities we would need, the condo was bright, clean and modern, in fact it was home away from home but in a beautiful piece of paradise, over the next 7 x days we drove north to Honolua Bay, we drove East and did the "Road to Hana" well most of it as the traffic was particularity heavy with the additional influx of Labour weekend visitors, we had amazing meals at various restaurants,timed perfectly to start at "happy hour", stopped at Micks (Fleetwood Mac) bar to sample a (few ) cocktails, shopped at the clearance stores, shopped and ate at Whalers Village, my wife walked to various parts of Lahina while i was out paddle-boarding at 1000 peaks , the locals and tourist were all very friendly, with many commenting NZ was on their "bucket lists" Maui was on my "bucket list" the fact it coincided with my 60th birthday will remain with me forever, Thanks for sharing your home Don, Absolutely Fantastic holiday in every way, Alistair, Trudi, Sophia, and Matt, (Ramsay's/Kelly)

Paradise found with unrivaled, unbeatable location maybe 30 steps from the ocean!

Location: Interior ground floor unit toward the ocean-end of G building [NOT right next to parking lot OR walkways] offering direct access to the beautiful grounds/pool/grills/ocean out the back door instead of messing with stairs. Outdoor furniture is comfy and large enough for a family. While at first glance the upper-level oceanfront buildings may seem enticing, don’t discount views of the lush grounds with trees, flowers, ponds AND the ocean, along with the usability of walk-out access. Plus, G106 has unobstructed sunset views right from the lanai! Quality: Clean and welcoming upon our arrival. Well stocked kitchen with coffee maker, toaster, blender, rice cooker and plenty of kitchenware/gadgets; even a cookie sheet to get the fish to and from the immaculately kept grills in the pool area (note: buy fresh fish, or prepared deliciousness, from The Fish Market Maui a block away). Furniture is in great shape, everything was in good working order, beds are comfy, and bedrooms offer decent storage, oscillating and ceiling fans and A/C. There is also a ceiling fan and A/C in the living room which all worked beautifully in the August heat. Dishwasher and washer/dryer in the unit along with beach towels were a plus. Frig has water in the door and an ice maker. Hideaway couch, if needed. Lots of books/games/beach gear. Communication: Owned by a small, independent group. As such, communication with Don was extremely timely, personal, and effortless. The entire process couldn’t have gone smoother. I didn’t worry a bit. Convenient Papakea Resort: Lush, extremely well-maintained grounds with lots of natural color, well thought out accessways and tree-covered parking. Relatively quiet property with friendly staff, water bottle-filling station, easy check-in/out, and tiki torches from sunset to 10pm. The resort fronts the ocean with a sea wall (not a beach), although if you walk south just past Papakea “L” building you can access the beach right there on property and walk all the way down to Black Rock – perfect at sunrise. 15 minute drive to excellent snorkeling. If you are on the fence, book it while you can and thank me later. Without question or hesitation, I will start here when we return to Maui. As we walked down the beach by all the high-rise condos, I was thankful every day that we found the intimacy of Papakea and G106 specifically. Quiet, beautiful, beyond convenient, in great shape, well-stocked AND excellent owners to work with? Search. Over.

The low-rise buildings and lush, well maintained gardens of Papakea attracted us immediately. Only after staying here did we realize how convenient the location is to Lahaina, golf and restaurants. On vacation we appreciate the quiet, relaxing and secure ambience of Papakea and as owners we appreciate how well the property is looked after by everyone.

What makes this property unique

At first we were looking for a high balcony location for the view, but after staying in the groundfloor unit we loved the convenience and quick access to all facilities. We like to travel with friends so the two bathrooms mean each couple has privacy and convenience. Papakea is so peaceful and relaxing, but lots of activities and excitement to be found around Maui.
