I was surprised by all the thoughtful touches--plenty of towels for bath and the beach, soaps and detergents, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, water bottles in the refrigerator, beach chairs in the closet. The house is in a residential area, yet it's no more than a 5 minute drive to Stewart Beach, the Strand, mansions on Broadway, or Pleasure Pier. We ended up enjoying our stay so much that we asked to stay an extra day, and our hosts were able to accommodate us. At check-in, the Yale door lock device was malfunctioning; however, Alberto responded within minutes with an alternate solution, and we had the device repaired the same afternoon. The house is very beautifully decorated. The rooms are small but equipped with comfortably sized beds, dressers and closets. The house was quite clean except for some stray hairs (or possibly soft broom bristles) in the guest bathroom; also, the top stair of the front porch was very wet every morning. Street parking appears to be standard in Galveston, and the host cannot be responsible for the state of the roads; however, the parking situation might be considered a drawback. Similarly, the neighborhood is not particularly pretty, but that seems to be standard as well: we observed well-maintained homes and boarded-up houses on the same block, all over town. If you're looking for luxury, this may not be your choice. If, like me, you're trying to get to know Galveston, this is a great little house in a very convenient location.
