The Space:
Classy digs and a hip hideaway on the urban wine trail, In the heart of Santa Barbara's entertainment district. Baby Dux is a studio apartment in The Dux, a three apartment hotel. Shopping, music, dance and excellent restaurants are just steps away. The apartment has exclusive use of the front porch and is completely private.

BEDDING: The elegantly designed corner bed couch is unusual. A drawer pulls out to convert it to a really comfortable, well-reviewed queen size bed with tempurpedic topper. The drawer stores the pillows. The armoire below the TV stores the mattress topper. Once the bedding is laid out, the pillows on the couch can be switched with the mattress topper to maximize space.

There is HD Digital TV and High Speed WiFi with a small table for those video calls plus a washer and dryer and paid on-site parking. BBQ on your porch, and use of the free bicycles for car-free, stress-free enjoyment.

The kitchenette is small and complete with a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, toaster oven and heat-induction hot plate. There is no stove top or traditional oven so if you plan to do some cooking, Mama Dux or Papa Dux are better choices with larger kitchens.

Cozy and close to State St.

We enjoyed walking and riding the bikes offered by the rental. We rode over 20 miles in 2 days on their cruiser type bikes. Check in was easy and the place was small, but just what we wanted . Santa Barbara is just beautiful.

The cottage and surrounding property reflected TLC to the max!

I loved my cottage stay in Baby Duck! The location is superb. Laura was very helpful and treated me as a welcomed new neighbor. I would think Baby Duck is most suitable for shorter stays as the kitchen is well equipped, but had a two burner hot plate. It worked well for simpler meals. Truly, the cottage was cozy. I had private use of the front porch area. The parking area was very secure. I'm hoping to visit again next year.

Santa Barbara Cubby in the Garden

This location was so cute and totally comfortable!! They've thought of everything! The bed was easy, kitchen had everything one would need, bathroom was tiny but had everything and was just enough space all the same. The washer and dryer were so nice to have. The property and gardens were fantastic! Parking was a breeze. We slept super soundly even though during our stay construction was going on nearby. The location was the best! Debbie and her team have thought of everything and had a notebook of easy directions for all available in the unit and recommendations for nearby. I'd say it's great for one or two people. Thank u Debbie for a great first visit to Santa Barbara from Seattle! We hope to be back to Baby Dux soon!!

Adorable hideaway in the heart of Santa Barbara

We stayed in the Baby Dux because the other units were rented and I was a little scared of the bed being a pull-out couch. The reviews said it was comfortable, and it WAS! The memory foam topper made all the difference and it was fine. Shower is small, but working and we appreciated the washer/dryer and soap provided. The location couldn't be better, 1 block from State Street and a couple of blocks from the pier. We used the available bikes one day and walked everywhere else. Being on a corner, there were times when the traffic was a bit loud (honking, EMS, etc.,) but it did not ruin our day. Working the TV is tricky, but you get the hang of it after a day. Everything was just as described and all in all, it was a great stay and we will likely stay here again when we come to visit our daughter who lives in nearby Montecito.

Lovely little home base

I loved my stay at baby dux! It’s a lovely property, in a great location and had everything I needed. It’s a tad small, but I knew that and it was more than enough room for a solo traveler. I so appreciated having a kitchen and a porch all to myself during my visit, and slept well on the comfortable bed.

Great stay for a show at the Bowl!

Fantastic little place right by State Street and the Funk Zone. We stayed for 3 nights for a show at the Bowl, and didn't use our car once. The unit is small, cozy, cute, and has almost everything you need. Can't wait to return next time we go to the Bowl!

About the host

The 3 Dux is named in honor of the family that grew up in the house. The family home has been remodeled and converted to an ApartHotel. Inga grew up in the house with her mother, brother and grandparents who were renters in the house for 30+years before they were able to buy it in 1993. Her grandfather ran a washing machine repair business in the house. He was known to Inga and the kids of the extended family as Papa Duck. A squeaker of ears and teller of tales, he was beloved by all. The 3 DUX are so named in honor of him (Papa Dux, Mama Dux and Baby Dux). One of those kids was her cousin Laura who managed The 3 Dux with all her heart and soul. Inga and Laura have since retired and Laura's daughter, Heather is now managing guest communication and her dear friend, Debbie is the concierge onsite who will be taking care of you.

The new owner, Julietta, with the help of Heather and Debbie continues the legacy with the same high standards of hospitality, kindness, attention to detail and happiness.

Welcome to The3Dux. Welcome to downtown Santa Barbara.

Warm smiles.

Why they chose this property

Santa Barbara retains an outsized sense of community. We are all reminded of Santa Barbara’s good heartedness recently, watching the last SB Solstice Parade. It is a festival of generous smiles and kind intention… Neighbors singing, dancing and celebrating up the State Street and enjoying this beautiful coastal city.

I hope you might find some of that Santa Barbara warmth and friendliness at The Dux. State Street is a block away, the Funk Zone is two blocks away and the beach is 5 walking blocks. There is free use of bicycles which I highly recommend as the very best way to enjoy the town. Parking is on-site and the apartments are comfortable and well stocked for your comfort. We offer a clean space with high speed internet and digital tv with YourTubeTV, Showtime and STARZ.

Tucked between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Santa Barbara features the best of both worlds when it comes to outdoor adventure. Water lovers can enjoy the beaches and some of the most scenic islands in California just a short boat ride away. Hikers will find endless trails in the Los Padres National Forest with towering views of the Pacific. Add world-class wineries, fine dining, spas, manicured gardens, and the beautiful Mediterranean-style architecture of the city, and you’ll understand why Santa Barbara is so beloved.

What makes this property unique

A beautiful well-appointed and well stocked home in a convenient location run by good people who care about hospitality. Please treat it like your own home.
