Unimpressed is an understatement, don’t trust the property manager.
I asked prior to booking if an earlier check in time would be possible since 5pm is quite late and we were travelling from Toronto with a baby and a dog. We were told between 3-4pm shouldn’t be a problem. The day of, after we had already left to make the two hour drive, we were informed by Tom that there was a power outage and not to travel until that was resolved. We were already in town…Around 3:30pm I reach out to Tom asking if we are able to head over to the property to at least sit outside. Tom ignored my question about being in the backyard, so we decided to head over to the property to at least be able to park our cars. Tom then drives by the property and sees we’re there so he FINALLY said we could wait outside. The cleaner (who was lovely and more informative and helpful) came out to check on us and did her best to get us inside as soon as possible. We could hear Tom inside fixing something with a power tool. Why this wasn’t started until we were already there is beyond me. Tom comes out and says the least he can do it offer us firewood and fire colour changing stuff. The cleaner said to us we should be getting a bit of a refund. We finally get in after 5:30pm. The hot tub had been drained (the cleaner came back the next day to refill it). It wasn’t useable until the last day. One canoe had a crack in ir. Not all bedrooms and bathrooms were cleaned. The couch was visibly stained. I asked Tom for a partial refund for all of this and he offered only $60. Not happy.
Tom and his crew took excellent care to make sure our stay was perfect. Everything was as advertised and they stayed in touch with us throughout the duration of our stay to ensure there were no issues.
Beautiful waterfront property, great for a large family group.
Our group enjoyed many features of Paradise Palace. The shallow waterfront was great for the young children in our group. Pool table was also a popular item. Location is convenient.
The place is massive with enough rooms to comfortably house 20+
Property is very large and has a lot of amenities to keep everyone busy all day. Jumping from the bridge into the water was the highlight for our boys. Will be back again
We brought a group of 20 friends together for the May long weekend to celebrate some life milestones. The cottage definitely was what we needed! There were tons of things to do for folks who had various interests, inside and outside. Paddling, volleyball, a fire. We brought lots of lawn games and the space could have multiple set up at one time. There's also a great communal space where we could eat and be together. Tom was incredibly communicative and collaborative, and was easy going when we needed more information or clarification. The property seems used mostly for rentals, so while it had all the basic fixings, things were not dainty or spotless so you felt comfortable being yourself and sinking into the cottage life in this rental. An FYI if the hot tub is a priority, there is a $500 e-transfer deposit but if you take care of it during your stay you'll be fine. We are a down to earth crew who are used to cottage life- so this hit the mark on that!
Visited as a large group of adult friends and Paradise Palace was great. We visited in the fall, which limits your outdoor activities generally, but there was plenty to do inside to make up the difference. Lots of seating, table space, beds, etc. I would strongly recommend it for larger groups. The arcade cabinet and emulator combination is a real nostalgia trip.
A clean, comfortable place with some disadvantages
Major advantages:
• Large enough to comfortably accommodate a family reunion of 20 people.
• spacious outdoor area with things for kids to do and places for people to congregate in good weather (which, unfortunately, we didn’t have in mid-October).
• Well-equipped games room
For these advantages, we would consider renting again. But there were some negatives as well.
• Advertises for 20 people, but the kitchen is not really equipped for that many, with shortages of coffee cups, glasses, kitchen towels, cooking utensils, and basic silverware. (There were a dozen tongs, but we never did find a second dish towel and had to mash potatoes with a table fork.) We were there to celebrate Thanksgiving, so the kitchen mattered.
• The secondary refrigerator wasn’t working. (We barely rescued our Thanksgiving turkey.) When we pointed this out, the owner shrugged it off. “It’s just an extra refrigerator.” Perhaps, but if it’s there, it should work.
• Although there are 3 bathrooms, one is ensuite in a room for two, so really there are just two bathrooms for potentially 18 people.
• Most of the house rules are reasonable enough, but they are presented in an off-putting, military tone including the cost of replacement or service costs for virtually every major item or possible malfunction.
• It’s the first place we’ve rented that requires you to cart your own garbage to the dump, with a hefty charge for any bags left behind.
Incredible stay - Spacious clean and lots of amenities
We had a great time especially with the hottub. Tommy was a very responsive host. Pictures dont do its justice. Cottage was very spacious which makes it very ideal for larger groups. Also having a pool table inside a cottage (which requires a lot of space) was a very nice addition. There was so much to do inside the cottage on a rainy day.
Such a beautiful and big cottage. Has everything we needed
Such an amazing place. The pool table, fooseball table, and 4 player arcade kept the kids entertained for days. The cottage was big enough for our group of 15, noone felt cramped at all. The bedrooms were all very big. Lots of space outside for the kids to run around. Kids had an amazing time swimming in the warm water. Adults had an amazing time canoeing with the provided canoes. Shallow sandy entry way from the shoreline. Quite a private cottage. Highly recommended for big groups.
This place is big and spacious, enough to fit our group of 20, including kids. The property has a dock that leads to a river that you can swim, paddleboard, and do other water activities. There is something for everyone to do. Whenever we had questions, Tommy responded very quickly and communication with him was very easy. Would recommend his place for other groups as well!

Generally okay stay with some grievances
Place is great, lots of things to do, lots of seating, awesome for larger groups. Very cool upstairs bedrooms with the glass walls. Everyone reported an excellent sleep, the beds are SUPER comfy. River was much shallower than expected, not ideal for swimming, great for a canoe or kayak. Disappointed by the negative vibes from the locals in the area. Creepy neighbour in a truck driving back and forth multiple times glaring at our group was very offputting. That and the excessive use of security cameras throughout the property would be the only two reasons preventing me from recommending a stay here.
Paradise Palace was an absolutely beautiful and magical place to stay this past weekend! It was so clean, lots of great dishes for different types of cooking and a wide variety of activities to do! The host Tom, was so helpful and was extremely responsive if I had questions. I would go back in a heartbeat! I want to reiterate that The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes which not all have so I was very impressed! I would def recommend and I look forward to working with Tom again for my weekend away with family! Thank you!!
This waterfront cottage was a fantastic choice for our family vacation. The spacious layout provided plenty of room for all of us to spread out and enjoy our time together. The highlight of the cottage was undoubtedly the games room, which was filled with all sorts of fun activities for everyone to enjoy. From arcade to pool to foosball, there was something for everyone. The waterfront location was also a huge plus, as we spent many hours relaxing on the deck, taking in the beautiful views of the water. Overall, we had a wonderful time at this cottage and would highly recommend it to others looking for a spacious, waterfront vacation spot with plenty of entertainment options.
great host. amazing stay. spacious cottage. beautiful views. everything you need and more
tommy is a great host. he actively communicates with his guests almost instantly and always points out more to do for entertainment and enjoyment. our family absolutely loved the cottage and the property. We had to give a deposit to use the hottub which i totally understand as not everyone knows how to use it and can ruin it for the next guests. i was perfectly ffine with that and he sent back the deposit sooner than expected. absolutely no issues and we already booked for the upcming summer. The kids absoultey loved the large games room with quality games like the fooseball and arcade (adults had a blast too). Tommy really thought of everything.
Beautiful large cottage with an amazing gsmes room. Great host! Lots of space
Tommy was an amazing host. Very responsive. The cottage was very large. Lots of space for everyone. Games room was incredibly fun. Lots of gamea for us adults and kids. Beds were comfortable. Lots of things to do in town. We went ice fishing in gull lake (recommended by tommy) and we all had a blast. Place was clean and kept well. Hottub was relaxing and clean. Lots of land and privacy from neighboes. Highly recommend this place
We had a wonderful time, but we're quite disappointed in the condition of the hot tub. If you're going to show a hot tub on your listing make sure it's useable. Everything else was super. Thanks for the use of the place
1. Location- Absolutely perfect. The beach just in front of you. All the shops and restaurants nearby as well.
2. Kitchen- EVERYTHING is there. We did not cook this time because we stayed for a long weekend for 3 nights. But if you want to cook, this place has a heavenly kitchen !
3. The View- "The View" You feel like in a Sky Bar if you are having wine with your partner. If you love getting up early, 6 in the morning and just watch the see , it is also a perfect for that. Enjoy and love the view !
4. Bathroom and Bedroom- So clean and pretty. Just loved staying here. Good Bed with comfortable mattress. Ive got always problem with pillow but even pillow was firm and nice.
5. Communication- Very smooth and fast. Tommy is very friendly and helpful.
6.Parking- There are lots of parking spots
7. Back View- From the bedrooms, Terrace, absolutely gorgeous. We did not know that when we booked it. We loved everyday walking through the little forest they have in the backyard
So again. Thank you for the very stylish and comfortable stay
We loved this property! Perfect for large groups who enjoy many activities, such as canoeing, billiards, foosball, volleyball, hot tub.
The property is kept very well (not surprised considering the number of detailed rules and consequences attached to the welcome package), with basic things included (ie. towels, salt, pepper, oil).
There were two issues we had. 1) was not being able to throw out our garbage and recycling at the waste disposal site mentioned in the welcome package. We needed garbage tags but weren't provided with any, so we had to drive all our garbage back home to dispose of ourselves. 2) wifi was very slow and spotty. We couldn't watch an entire movie without it stopping many times to load. This meant we weren't able to stream anything, without having to download it first.
