Great place to stay in Port Clyde

This is a very nice, clean and convenient place in Port Clyde. It's a very short walk to Drift Inn beach, and a short walk down to the harbor in Port Clyde. The house looks to be very freshly built or renovated and has all the things anyone would need. We (parents plus teenage daughter) very much enjoyed staying here and would love to come back in the future.

Perfect place to be right now

We needed a place to refocus and recharge after dealing with six months of COVID-19 reality. Doug and Amy provided us a meticulously kept home and property, allowing us to relax and enjoy the beautiful Maine coast. Perfectly located for catching sunrises as well as sunsets. Great walking and cycling location with proximity to good eats as well. Not our first visit here, and certainly not our last!

Port clyde

We had a great stay snd visited lots of attractions.we are all over 70 and lack of railings on outside steps was difficult and lack of sufficient outside backyard lighting. Also linen and towels not sufficient- one set for the week and owners request not to use washer more than twice in the week not satisfactory

Starks/Port Clyde

We had a great experience staying in this home. Clean, neat, everything we needed to be comfortable and we loved being walking distance to the beach and the town. A special treat for us was attending church in Port Clyde. The fellowship was sweet, God’s Word proclaimed and we meet a lot of really friendly people. Loved visiting the surrounding areas as well.

Great location walkable to almost everything you need.

The property is clean and neat with everything you need to enjoy a week with family. We especially enjoyed having the beach within a short walk. It was a great place for the kids to run and explore and a great place for Grampa to sit and relax. We also enjoyed bug free out door dining inside the screened porch.

Just perfect!

This home was very clean and inviting. Everything I needed was here and Ifelt at home right away. The screen porch was the most used room and provides wonderful quiet and wooded privacy. Each morning I watched the sunrise from the beach and sunset from Port Clyde.....perfect.

Wonderful stay in Port Clyde

We enjoyed our visit to Port Clyde immensely. The house was very clean and the layout, an open kitchen/living room, provided plenty of comfortable living space for our family of four adults. We also enjoyed the screened-in porch for reading and the beach is within walking distance. We would definitely return to this lovely home in the future.

Great family cottage

We had a wonderful time with our daughter, her husband and our grandchildren. The house had everything we needed. The fire pit provided the first marshmallow roasting memory for our grand kids. We all enjoyed it very much! This home was so clean and comfortable, also a very short walk to beach. We would love to return again next year. So beautiful!

Low tide & seaglass....what a way to start the day!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We walked to the Drift Inn Beach each morning and late afternoon for low tide. Marshall's Point is just a mile away, a special treat at sunset. It was our home away from home for a week...can't wait til next year!

A beautiful week well spent in paradise

Our first impression as we pulled into the driveway was the feeling that we had made the right choice. The well maintained appearance from the outside was reflected in the cleanliness and upkeep inside. We were surprised to find that everything we needed was provided. There was no need to rush to the corner store for a corkscrew. In addition there is a Walmart superstore about 20 minutes away. No need to bring anything with you. We found the best place to purchase live, fresh lobster was from the fishermen on the dock in Port Clyde. Notes on how to get there are in the Visitors book. We had a family reunion there for our daughters 25th wedding anniversary. There was plenty to do for grandchildren of all ages. We spent a day in Camden, well worth a visit - beautiful boutiques. We would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Perfect Home for a Port Clyde vacation

We just returned from a wonderful week in Port Clyde and if you are looking for a rental in this location, this home is perfect. The owners provide everything you need and the house is in a quiet location, 5 minutes to the beach, has a screened in porch, comfortable beds, a beautiful yard and is clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful and lovely

This was my first time to visit Port Clyde and it was so lovely and peaceful that I really didn't want to leave. The house looks compact on the outside, but inside it is open and spacious. The relatively new house is quite capable of comfortably sleeping several people. Two full baths, three bedrooms, private deck, and an open kitchen-dining-living room area is quite pleasant for relaxing with family/friends. It is just a short walk to the cove beach with an expansive view of the ocean --- perfect for all recreational activities or just sitting on the beach. The small town of Port Clyde is also a reasonable walk or bike ride. Port Clyde and the lighthouse symbolize the quaintness and best of coastal Maine. Exploring the beautiful country roads and other small coastal towns was delightful. Excellent place to stay!!

Beautiful place to relax

We left for Maine the day after my work year at a school ended. What a great place to unwind and begin the summer! The house is new and clean, with attention to so many welcoming details. Breakfast on the back porch, enjoying the quiet, was a regular treat. Biking to the lighthouse, local lobster rolls, an evening of marshmallow roasting over the fire pit, shopping in Rockland, and beach time are all part of the memories we treasure. It was so nice to be in a place where there is no need to hurry. The rooms are huge and comfortable, the kitchen and living area make a great place for family gathering, the bathrooms are immaculate.

The Perfect Home Away from Home

Our family had an amazing stay in Port Clyde. It was a peaceful getaway full of outdoor exploring, beach time, sight seeing, and delicious local fare. The cottage is so welcoming and homey and offers many little comforts that many rentals do not. There was plenty of space for our family of five and the quick walk to Drift Inn Beach or to the village was more than manageable for our little ones. Plenty to do and see but tucked away from the busy, central tourist areas, too. We loved everything about it! Thank you!

Clean and cozy rental exceeded expectations!

We stayed in this house for our honeymoon! It was clean, comfortable, and enjoyable. We quickly felt right at home and enjoyed the ample space to cook and relax when we weren't out and about. The back porch was a favorite spot to read and drink coffee when we weren't doing the same at the beach. :) The beach is a (very) short walk from the house as is the town that has some yummy seafood and a general store. For fine dining and more tourist shops, Rockland is a short drive. Definitely recommended!

Cozy cottage with everything we needed

We rented this property for the week of August 14th-20th, 2011. The weather didn't really co-operate with us,it drizzled for the first two days, but we went out beachcombing and as a bonus it meant we had the beach to ourselves. On sunny days there were quite a few more seaglass seekers. We also got to explore the nearby town of Rockland as a result of the rain, it was very touristy, but had a grocery, mcd's, Dunkin donuts, etc. We felt there was plenty of room in the cottage. We travelled with two teens, a two year old and a 4 year old,( putting up extra air mattresses in the master for the little ones).Someone could have slept on the pull out couch as well. Two bathrooms were nice to have, the laundry room handy, there was a good sized bbq though we didn't use it. The closest town is really a village, and not really any restaurants, though there are some things served at the general store, and there was an ice cream shop and other cafe barn we didn't go in. Bring some food with you as the nearest larger grocery store is 20 minutes away, and you won't want to have to leave right after arrival. Kitchen is stocked with all the gadgets and stuff you'd need- and plenty of pantry space- Nice big private yard, a pretty short walk to the water entry(almost 5 minutes at 2 year old pace). The high tide/low tide differences at the beach are awesome, the kids enjoyed being in the "deeper" water at one point in the day, then later walking way past that and still being on the shore. Be aware though, the second that tide rolls out, the people in the area flock to the beach, get there fast to get a good spot! We brought some extra things we didn't really need, because the owners had really though to provide everything. Great time for our family. The only downside would be of note to other asthmatics- a closed up cottage by the sea can be a bit musty when you first open it up (particularly with it raining non stop)., but we opened the windows and it cleared up in no time. it just meant a bit of extra inhaler useage for our youngest after we first arrived. We would definitely return to this rental-and have recommended it to our friends with kids- good location, great price, plenty of room and beautiful scenery! Things to do- check out the lighthouses, the closet one was in the Forest Gump movie. The Monehegan puffin cruise was ok, not many puffins, but we saw dolphins and seals so the kids were happy- Try some fresh lobster from the dock-delicious!

Hi there. We started vacationing in Port Clyde in 1994 when our first daughter was born. We have returned every year since then and have built SO many wonderful memories in Port Clyde. In 2008 an opportunity came up for us to purchase a mobile home on a lovely piece of property that was a VERY short walk from the beach. It was private yet allowed us easy access to the water as well as a comfortable walk to town and the lighthouse. We enjoyed that home for a number of years and had many people rent and share in our joy. In 2012 we decided to build a new home on the property and that is what you will be renting. It is a wonderful new home that we enjoy sharing with others so that you too can enjoy and come to love a place on earth that has been such a blessing to our family.
Thanks for considering our home.

Why they chose this property

The thing we LOVE about this home is that you can get to the beach so easily, but you can also leave it behind and go back to a very private, secluded, wooded setting. You have the best of both worlds. The location is such that you can easily walk to the beach or head the other direction for coffee/lunch/dinner at 'The Port'. Or continue on to the Marshall Point Lighthouse (we enjoy many picnic meals there as well!).

What makes this property unique

We don't know what else to tell you other than many people have told us that staying at our home has been their best vacation ever!
