About this property

The Chateau at Ferncliff | Beautiful Main Lake Views | 3-Night Minimum

The Chateau at Ferncliff will inspire you to explore, and every corner will reveal an interesting and unique blend of rustic sophistication.  A cozy lake house nestled among stalwart pines, paves the path to an exquisite art gallery of personal work overlooking the lake from the inside.  Wood and stone and earth tones combined with geometry and angles connote modern steel and welded frames. Of course you'll have to stop at the grand view and slip into a chair at the 20' wall of windows to enjoy the expansive mile long vistas of Lake Gaston. Whatever your first inclination, it's the right thing to do, because now it's your time...it's lake time!

As pictured, the Chateau at Ferncliff has ample waterfront dining space with seating up to 14 people both inside or out.  You'll find plenty of prep space and a fully equipped galley with all the expected tableware for a casual dining experience.  A wet bar with seating between the living and kitchen areas will conveniently keep the beverages flowing without creating traffic issues in the kitchen. Massive deck space can seat many more.   Multi-platform dock area is perfect for entertaining or lounging on a shady summer afternoon or enjoying an evening gathering with friends under the magic of a full moon and bistro lighting!

For active group gatherings you will enjoy the idyllic 3.5 acre community park which includes a pavilion and a lush but perfectly trimmed field for soccer or team play.   Ferncliff also offers approximately 2.5 miles of nicely paved roads for a smooth bicycle ride with family or friends or that morning run to start the day.  If you'd like to begin your day on the water, jump in a kayak or try your hand at paddle boarding?  Both are provided, but we do advise you bring your own PFD, as we make no guarantee those available will fit.  Fishing off the dock is fabulous!!

The pictures speak for themselves, but to help you plan, here are some specifics about each bedroom and the linen situation. First, the linens; we want to make it clear that when you book your reservation, you will be charged separately for a linen package.  We went this route for a bunch of reasons which basically distill into two buckets; A. Absolute confidence in sanitation in a current/post COVID world and, B. Absolute confidence in the rotation of sanitized linens between guests.  You do not need to bring sheets, pillow cases, bath towels, hand towels or washcloths.  The sheets and pillow cases come sealed from a company that does the laundry off site where the water is heated to 190 degrees during the wash cycle.  Everything is sterilized.  The sheets and pillow cases will be packaged and placed at the foot of each bed.  Towels and the rest of the linens are folded & packaged alongside and have been processed in the same sanitary fashion.  So, you do not need to bring any linens and you can be 100% sure that your linens are sanitized and fresh.

Secondly, now the bedrooms...  :)

Bedroom 1 - Master Bedroom (King Bed) - The master sits high aloft the rest of the house and has its own private sitting area tastefully adorned with 2 reading chairs.  There is a minimalist approach to the décor of the home which is clearly seen in the master.  This was to cultivate an illusion of space beyond the actual square footage.  You will be able to stretch out for morning yoga without feeling encroached by furniture or walls, or you can lie in the bed and view the lake unencumbered by excessive furnishings or stream a movie on the Smart TV provided for your enjoyment.  Begin each day in a clean, spacious, clutter free environment and each morning with the welcoming waters of beautiful Lake Gaston!

Bedrooms 2 & 3 - Bedrooms on Main (Queen Beds) - There are two bedrooms on the main level each one having a queen bed.  These bedrooms are smartly up-fitted with a lamp on each side of the bed that has a wireless charger on the platform.  Simply lay your phone on the shelf in the right spot (you'll have to home-in using the red indicator light) for effortless, cord free charging (may not work with some phone cases).

Bedrooms 4 & 5 - Bedrooms on Base (Queen and Bunks) - There are two bedrooms on base that feature a common lounge area and a game table and walkout basement leading directly to the dock.  The first bedroom has a Queen bed with French doors so you can "rise and shine" with a view of the shimmering waters below.  The other bedroom has 3 twin bunk beds for a total of 6 individual sleeping pods.

The Chateaut at Ferncliff is a four-seasons retreat! There are endless adventures to enjoy, and we are always here to help make suggestions, if you run out of ideas. Some favorites include boating, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, wake boarding, fishing, biking, wildlife viewing, and our favorite 2 "fall sports" - page turning and coffee sipping. :) Really, the options are endless! No matter what you choose to do, you will surely feel the magic of the lake, being soothed and refreshed by the magnificent, yet enchanting surroundings, at The Chateau!

A few more tid-bits...  :)
1.  No Pets:  Trained service animals are welcome!  Otherwise, we have a strict "no pets" policy.  We can help arrange lodging for your pets (as long as they are up to date on shot records which must be provided) at a local boarding facility during your stay, if you'd like; just give us a call...way in advance as they fill up fast!

2.  Septic System:  The house, like 99% of all lake homes on Lake Gaston, uses a septic system.  This system is a finely balanced biological system.  Please help us keep it working flawlessly by flushing ONLY toilet paper.  Renters are responsible for any damage caused by misuse.

3.  Navigating the Lake: Bow-Riders and deep draft Wake Board boats need to check their Hummingbirds to ensure adequate depth in all coves.  Pontoons should have no issues and everyone is welcome to tie off at the dock with rental boats (make sure to bring your bumpers!).

4.  Culverts & Bridges:  Be sure to lower your bimini top when going under bridges or through culverts.  Appearances can be deceiving!

5. Security Camera Disclosure: We take your privacy very seriously.  However, this home is monitored by exterior security cameras located in the following areas:

Front door ring camera overlooking driveway and front yard.

Bohman Family Vacation

The property is one of the nicest we have stayed in. The home, yard, lakefront and dock are well kept and clean. The kitchen is well equipped, beds comfortable, living spaces roomy and comfortable. Linen service was perfect and convenient.

The property was very nice but without working wifi and dock lights it wasn’t exactly what we had hoped for. But the house was impeccably clean and pleasant. Carmie is very sweet.

The Chateau at Ferncliff was absolutely gorgeous.

The Chateau at Ferncliff was absolutely gorgeous. The house had everything that was needed. Although we had very little contact with the team everyone was very professional and helpful when we did.

A Dream

This property was literally a dream. Due to a change in other plans, we booked last minute and for only a few nights, but we would have loved to stay longer. The house was beautiful. The outside space was perfect. We spent our time outdoors from sunrise to sunset. The dock was amazing and we used the kayaks and paddle boards provided. We cooked all of our meals at the house and the kitchen was fully stocked. The only thing I will mention was the coffee pot was a Keurig and only uses K-cups. We had brought ground coffee with us and ended up needing to run to the store to buy K-cups (there were only two provided). Other then that, everything was a 10/10! We’re already looking at dates to see when we can come back and stay there again! Thanks for the amazing memories❤️

Our stay at Château Ferncliff was perfect.

Our stay at Château Ferncliff was perfect. There was plenty of room for all of our family to eat, sleep, and play. The kitchen and dining area made many meal time memories. The 2 living areas allowed the kids to have their space and the adults to have a place to hangout too. All the beds were super comfy and great closet space to hang our clothes. The lake views from the house and dock were exactly what we all needed. We enjoyed the sunsets and boat watching from house as well as the dock. The neighborhood was beautiful and we enjoyed morning walks and evening golf cart rides. We brought our boat which made the dock a huge asset, and waking up and walking outside to start our day in the water was so much easier! Helpful and polite. When we arrived, the outside trash was overflowing, but the staff took care of it right away.

Loved the property

It was a beautiful property overall and the property management was wonderful to communicate with. We had many questions and they were quick to respond with helpful information. Some small positives: • The outdoor space was amazing and we spent the entire day outside until it was past dark whether we were eating or playing. • 10/10 on the utensil choice • Loved the bar • I WANT THAT ICE MAKER Some small suggestions we have (it didn’t effect things too much however) • Would love to see some more pots and bigger pots as well. We had a big family and it was kinda hard to cook a big meal for all of us • The lower level can be much colder than the rest of the house. We used it mainly as a “kid’s floor” so I would suggest bringing an extra blanket if that’s a concern. • Hot water for showers does run out quickly so be speedy if you’re showering at the same time as others Overall, we had a WONDERFUL stay and these were just very minor things throughout our stay. The kids had a blast with the kayaks and paddle boards. We would absolutely return if we have the chance!
