About this property

Gallatin River waterfront fly fishing access w/fire pit - Historic Gallatin River Cabin

This historic cabin, built in 1902, sits on the bank of the Gallatin River between Big Sky and Bozeman. Enjoy fantastic fly fishing just steps from the back door. With a fire pit, a gorgeous outdoor seating area, and beautiful views, this cabin is the perfect summer destination. If you're lucky, you'll meet some of the local wildlife!

As you enter the cabin, you are welcomed by the cozy open-concept living/dining/kitchen area, equipped with a pull-out sofa that sleeps two. The bathroom is on the main floor and is fully equipped with a tub/shower combo and fresh linens. As you enter the bedroom you'll find a full-sized bed, perfect for two. From there, you'll go up the log ladder to enter the loft where you'll find two twin-sized beds. This cabin comfortable sleeps 6 people making it perfect for a getaway with friends or family! Relax in this cozy cabin and enjoy the peaceful river sounds after a long day of fishing!

Originally a dude ranch, Karst Camp was established in 1901 by Pete Karst. It was the gateway to Yellowstone National Park for early tourists. The camp, known as Karst Stage Stop Inn, saw up to 600 tourists per summer with 25 guests cabins. In 1937, Pete built a towrope for skiers, which has since vanished, as well as a bar and brothel for local miners. Visitors can imagine the rugged conditions both residents and tourists must have had to endure to appreciate Yellowstone Country 100 years ago.

In the summer, you are just minutes from exceptional fly fishing, river rafting, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, ziplining and more. Plus, the West entrance of Yellowstone National Park is only about 45 minutes away while following the historic HWY 191 along the scenic Gallatin River. Don't miss the free concerts, farmer's markets, and weekly special events throughout the summer!

Awesome Montana Location!

Quaint cabin that was 20 feet from of the river. We came to do a little trout fishing, recharge and relax, sit outside in the evening without bugs and take in the food and people of Big Sky. Mission accomplished! True mountain vacation!

Small Little Cabin

Overall it was a good place to stay! A few notes to point out. The ceiling fan looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time, maybe years, yikes! So we made sure to leave that off the time we stayed. The bed in the bedroom was not very comfortable so we stayed up in the loft area and enjoyed the coziness up there. The bathroom was clean, bed linens/sheets and towels were all clean, the kitchen area was clean as well as the appliances and the cookware. We did not use the grill as it was questionable on its cleanliness, and the wire brush to clean it wouldn’t have helped much. Coffee maker, (not a keurig) so make sure to bring coffee grounds! We would stay again but maybe not so many nights (we stayed 3), it seems best for just an over night spot, because it is small. Bonus, it’s on the river with beautiful views.

Great stay!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cabin was nice and perfect for 2 people. I did catch fish right behind the cabin but the water was a little fast. There is a bridge about a mile towards Big Sky on the right side of the road, that has great fishing and the river widens a bit and has some nice water! Parachute Adam’s best dry fly ever!
