About this property

Tiny House on Lake Ainslie 13 miles to Inverness

Tiny Houses are no longer just for hipsters and millennials. With Americans and Canadians interested in tidying up, downsizing their belongings and living more efficiently, the Tiny Household Movement has prevailed, inspiring people of all ages to move into small spaces. Our new Tiny House is located in one of the most magical places we have found in our boat in the world for many years. It is just a stone's throw from Nova Scotia's largest freshwater Lake Ainslie and faces northeast with an incredible view of the sunrise by the lake. Your untouched peace will help you to experience life with open eyes and a new energy. It goes back to the basics. It is heaven on earth. Listen to the Loons and many bald eagles watching for trout. Swim in the crystal clear waters to the nearby perfect sandy beach, where shells in the sandy bottom draw their artworks.

The loft offers plenty of room for a couple, but is limited to 13.5 feet due to the maximum limit for a tiny house on wheels. You can sit on the bed, but your head touches the ceiling when you are taller.

Lovely spot

Cute little tiny home. Lovely views! Had a bit of difficulty with the key getting stuck in the door but made it work. The funky heater soon had the place toasty warm. Thanks for sharing the place!!

Lake water was perfect

It was a really nice spot by the water! We appreciated having Kayaks to use and being able to swim. I recommend adding some stairs to the water and a small dock for swimming so it would safe for guests with limited mobility to access the water. It was a little too steep and slippery to manoevre the kayaks to the water, so stairs would help with that too.

Loon serenades at night

This rental was as advertised. Comfortable for 2 adults. Conveniently located near Inverness and Chéticamp. Bob was very pleasant and helpful. Don't be worried by a composting toilet. It is fine. We were there for 7 days and everthing was absolutely jfine. I absolutely loved falling asleep listening to the loons. I would stay there again.

Just a few suggestions..

The tiny home overall is extremely charming. It was clean and the area itself was quiet and relaxing. Several things we felt blindsided by, and we feel guests should be made aware of before booking: There is a compost toilet. We were not prepared or comfortable with dumping our bags of waste. Also, there should be more bags left for guests staying several days. Hand soap in the washroom should be liquid in a pump for sanitary reasons, particularly during covid. We were provided a half used bar of soap. More towels, (again for guests staying several days). And there were no washcloths or paper towel at all. Also, 10 minutes of hot water is all there is at a time. Then prepare to wait an hour for the water to heat up again. This is inconvenient when 2 people need a shower before heading out for the day. The water is advised by the owner as not suitable for drinking, but no drinking water was provided. These are a few things we did NOT know before booking. We were asked to use the BBQ if possible rather than the toaster oven, but then asked to buy propane for the bbq if it ran out! This should be checked and filled by the owner. Again, the house itself is cute. The grounds should definitely be maintained as it has SUCH potential. Just a shame that it seems to have been neglected. Weeds up to my waist and some blocking what would be a magnificent view. The kayaks couldn't be moved down to the lake. The steep area to move them is extremely dangerous! We didn't feel we got our moneys worth, and unfortunately will not book here again. 😕

Secluded Paradise

Everything was as advertised. For those who want solitude, the home is on a quiet lake with the only noise coming from the family of Eagles and Kingfishers fishing on the lake. Tiny home has everything you need to stay comfortable. Loved it, would go again.

Tiny Loon

We have always been curious about tiny house living. This was a great way to test it out. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing spot, and this fit the bill nicely. We have never seen such a beautiful star show.

Enjoyed our tiny house trial

Tiny houses look so great on tv but I was curious to find out what the experience would actually be like. We enjoyed the interior of this tiny house. Everything is thoughtfully laid out and we had everything we needed. Enjoyed the French press coffee, fresh air, and view. Had no trouble locating the house. Be sure to have the seafood chowder at the Red Shoe in Mabou if you stay here.

Nice lakeside place

There was slight confusion with the owner about which home I was staying in but was quickly sorted. The location was great and there is lots to do in the Inverness area

Why they chose this property

Living Small in a Tiny House is Really About Living Big
Tiny houses aren’t just for hipsters and millennials anymore. As Europeans, Americans and Canadians have taken an interest in tidying up, downsizing their belongings and living more efficiently, the tiny house movement has gone mainstream, and it’s inspiring people of all ages to embrace small spaces. The “Tiny Loon“ is placed on one of the most magical places we have found in many years traveling around the world in our boat. It sits in a lovely green field with a breathtaking lake view, where a babbling brook ends on a private pebble beach. From here it´s a 550m walk to a very secluded little sandy beach with Caribbean feelings but no need to share with many others. Admire the beautiful bald eagles flying above you and the stunning sunsets from your patio

What makes this property unique
