Mountain Getaway

This is the best rental experience we have had! The location, property, and host are above and beyond what you could want in a vacation. We spent 4 days in the area riding our sxs. Perfect location for this, beautiful mountain setting. The hosts have the rental stocked with everything you can think of to make you feel like it’s home away from home and they know the area very well and are more than willing to help you find what you are looking for.we will be back!!

Great Stay!

We loved all of the little extras that were provided: extra towels for the dogs and atvs, smores supplies, charger port with all types of chargers, etc. She even had stuff for us to celebrate New Years since we were there New Years Eve. Also, the place smelled wonderful!

WHAT A GEM!!

The hospitality was over the top!! This house had more amenities than my own home, from fishing equipment, snacks, laundry detergents, the charger adaptor for every phone, movies, to the homemade ICE CREAM maker! Close to all trails and town. Great location and very quiet! Highly recommend. Plus Barb is knowledgeable and knows anything and everything about the town. Great Host!!! We will be back!

Tacket Creek trails

We travel frequently and have utilized both VBRO and hotel accommodations. This property is without a doubt the ABSOLUTE BEST as far as amenities. They provided everything one could imagine to make the vacation special. This included ingredients for homemade ice cream, smores, Kurig coffee, laundry detergent, tooth brushes, games and much more. All of our party were completely blown away by the thoughtfulness this owner put into making anyone's vacation something special. We would definitely utilize this property again. 10/10. Highly recommend!

Great stay at Plum Crazy Resort !

We have stayed at many great places in the Tackett Creek area. My wife and I enjoy riding our SXS, and traveling to new locations. But after this past weekend, I think we found our favorite place. Everything was perfect, very clean, attention to every detail to take care of the guests. Very easy bringing in our trailer and equipment. Barb’s communication was awesome. Very nice people, the location to the trails was awesome. There’s even a restaurant just a couple miles down the road! We can’t wait for next time to visit again.

Wonderful

We came in after dark so it was a little hard for us to find. The owner text me and ask if we had made it, I told her we weren’t sure where to go. She ask where we were and that she would be there in 20 minutes. Barb is the best she goes way above and beyond to make your stay perfect. I will be staying with Barb every time I am in the area.

Great place to stay! Close to trails!

We chose this house based on the location and the ATV trails in the area. The host was very accommodating and made sure our stay was great. She had everything we could ever need I’ve never stayed at a house that was so well stocked. The only downfall was not having WiFi but there was plenty of other stuff to do. There was plenty of parking for 3 trucks and trailers. She had towels just for wiping down our sxs and even had an outside hose to rinse off our windshields. Overall we had a great time and would happily stay here again.

Our stay was just perfect

My husband and I went with 2 other couples for the Thanksgiving Holiday, staying 3 nights. We were pleasantly surprised at how Barbara stocked our cabin. There was literally nothing that wasn’t thought of. The kitchen was so well stocked, instapots to roasters. Plenty of towels and bathroom necessities as well. The home was so comfortable, it felt like we were home. We brought wood with us for the wood burning fireplace. It was wonderful sitting around visiting in front of the fire. We brought our 10 month old puppy with us, and this property was so perfect for him, with a large gated back deck. There were more beds than we needed and plenty of parking. We each brought a full sized vehicle and pull behind trailers for our side x sides. She also had a hose set up for washing our buggies down after a day of riding. Royal Blue is just a few minutes away. We couldn’t have asked for a better appointed place to stay. Barbara thought of everything! Thanks so much for your hospitality!

We fell in love with the area and are starting a family resort focused on more than off road adventures on Tackett Creek, Sundquist & Royal Blue trails. We are going to be adding the Still house in 2025, a cabin up in the woods with a great nature path to walk back to an old still site. In the next few years we will be adding a general store with porch for local legends and lore to be told. The general store will double as our office and my Real Estate office. We are currently working on “Ethel’s Place” and “The Garden Apartment at Ethel’s Place” located next door by the “Gnome Home” as we build a property that features weekend themes, homesteading classes and group activities such as kayaking , fishing, rockhounding, UTV/Jeep trips, and live acoustic music. We want to build a “family” of visitors so please sign our guest book with your contact information so we can update you on our progress and offer future deals to those that stay with us while we are still building in the first few years. Follow us on Facebook at Plum Crazy Appalachian Resort for updates on current off-roading events and resort videos. Follow Barbara Drake Realtor for local happenings outside of the Offroad life.
Thank you for choosing to stay with us, Barb & Chris Drake

Why they chose this property

This house is named the “Horsin’ Around House” in memory of my Father who loved entertaining, grilling/smoking fish, turkeys etc and feeding people, the mountains, nature, fishing and trail riding/showing horses.

What makes this property unique

The drive here runs along an emerald blue creek. It is a quiet mountain setting just quiet enough to enjoy the sound of the water, birds and frogs. A short walk or drive down Hickory Creek you can see elk almost every evening & along a 1mi drive or ride there are several waterfalls up Rock Creek with parking by the big waterfall. Having said that you are still on an ATV road with 2 Sundquist trails crossing, 10 mi along gravel mountain roads to the entrance of Tackett Creek & 11 miles through trails or by road to all the ATV campground excitement/gas/fab shops etc. If you have boaters with we are 17 miles from most marinas on our side of Norris Lake where you have one of the largest Lakes in the country to explore. Go see the floating cities, full houses with floating concrete sidewalks, stores,& restaurants. Rent a Boat, book a fishing charter, rent a SxS (2 or 4 seaters), book a trail guide, no matter what we can assist you with everything! Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?
