About this property

Hilltop Cottage Sunset Views @ The Farm on a Hill

Come for the view and relax in our rustic hilltop cottage! There are many bright stars at night here, and the sunsets from the back deck are amazing. We overlook the valley of the East Yegua Creek. Our cottage includes 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and laundry. The first bedroom has a queen bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds. You can explore as much of our 30-acre property as you would like. We would be happy to give a garden tour or introduce you to some of our farm animals (chickens, ducks, cats and seasonal cows) at your request. There is a sport court with basketball and pickleball, playground, fishing in a small pond, hiking on wooded trails and a garden area. We are 45 minutes west of Bryan-College Station and Kyle Field, less than one hour north of Round Top and 90 minutes to Austin. We have our cozier cabin option for 2-3 guests available on the same property if you'd like to check it out too - search for "hilltop cabin." A 10% discount is available for weekly stays.

Idyllic Serene Getaway

This was the most wonderful place to stay, down to every thoughtful detail. I truly enjoyed the time in nature on the outlined walking trails and the Calico cat was the sweetest morning companion on both the front and back porch. Would gladly stay here again!

Wedding weekend

We had a family wedding to attend in Caldwell. We didn’t want to stay in a hotel in Bryan/CS. We found the perfect cabin to stay in. The cabin was clean and well kept. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Great for Stargazing!

My friend and I booked the Cottage last minute to watch the Geminids meteor shower. It was a very cozy and clean house with great views and dark skies. Highly recommend!

A quiet, private, comfortable, and hassle free stay that was just perfect…

Located on an old farm on top of a hill with million dollar views, away from the hustle and bustle in an update farmhouse that was comfortable and just what was needed.

The BEST country getaway!

Our family of 4 had the most amazing getaway! The cabin had everything we needed including firewood for the wood burning stove inside (there is central heat and air as well that works great). The free range chickens and beautiful scenery had us wanting to stay much longer. The hosts are some of the best we’ve encountered and we’ve encountered a lot! I’d recommend this house for a couple, a family of 3-4, or a family of 5 if one child is in a pack n play.

Beautiful view

The property was clean, quite, and there is a beautiful morning/evening view. It is a little out of town on a one lane road but overall we enjoyed it.

Wedding nearby

The host was very helpful. We were coming to town for a wedding and I was tasked with providing lunch for the wedding party Our host was so accommodating by letting me use coolers and making sure the kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils I needed. The communication was super helpful. We would have loved to stay longer to enjoy the property- really beautiful.

Wonderful trip on the farm!

This is a wonderful cottage and farm stay. We had a great time seeing the animals and spending time together as a family and disconnecting from the day to day hustle back home. Our kids loved the playground and trampoline and the cottage was equipped with all we needed for a great stay. The owners were very welcoming and accommodating. We would definitely recommend staying at the Hilltop Cottage!

Scenic and peaceful

Scott and Jenna's place had some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. My favorite part was greeting the cows, and the ducks and chickens that roamed around the property! Note* if you're allergic to wasps, bring your epi pen! Kitchen was perfect for some country cooking, and the beds were super comfy!

A quint quiet farm house

We needed a two bedroom place to stay during an Aggie football weekend even though we were not going to the game. The farm is 45 minutes from College Station but an easy drive. The two bedrooms each had a window unit and very comfortable beds. We slept very well as we stayed very cool. We had a two year old so was perfect for him to run around without bothering anyone. Very clean. Plenty of towels.

It was very quiet and beautiful setting. Easy to find but last stretch was a gravel road but ok I am 85 and didn’t feel safe to take a shower. No handle bars. And friend with me had trouble turning the shower on. I did like the window unit in the bedrooms. Kept really cool on that hot night. Bed was very comfortable.

Solo Getaway in the Country

The house and surroundings fulfilled my desire to get away from the big city and spend some time by myself. It was quiet but for the sounds of nature. The chickens appeared close to noon on Saturday and spent a few hours pecking around the yard and taking a sand bath underneath the front porch. The surroundings were calm and peaceful. The sun decided not to appear but that only enhanced the serenity. Thank you!

Awesome place to visit and stay

The Farm on the Hill was a spectacular stay. A bit from town but well worth by the short drive. So beautiful and quiet. Scott, Jenna and their entire family were great hosts. Jenna allowed our 2 year old granddaughter to help her feed the cows. We totally enjoyed the chickens, cows, rabbits and Newt the cat became a lifelong friend. We can’t say enough about our positive experience staying there. Even though the family was in their home right behind our stay, you would never know it. We totally felt we were the only people there but whenever a question arose, they responded within minutes. The place was so well stocked to make the stay comfortable. Totally our favorite air B&B stay ever.

Magical

I was looking for a place to stay that my kids would like. They don’t love hotels and prefer a bit of space and nature so when I came across The Farm on a Hill, I knew they’d love it. The cottage is extremely charming with a front and back porch, cozy bedding and a well stocked kitchen. There is a beautiful view and in the evening you can see the most beautiful stars (us city folk don’t see as many.) My daughter’s favorite feature where the friendly kitties that lived on the property. It brought her so much joy to pet them on the porch each morning and evening. My son’s favorite part was the trampoline and the baby cow. Personally l loved the Instagram-worthy setting, the trees, flowers, hens (we had fresh eggs in the fridge upon arrival,) the sound of the frogs at night and the porch swing. My kids have already told me we are coming back :)

The host should nit be a host

Dried Poultry poop on front and back porch. Could not roll luggage in..ants, mud bobbers and red wasp in unit. Dead June bugs in coffee maker. Host was condensending and rude. No grab bar in shower and no grip on floor of shower. 2 rolls of toilet paper for 4 women..for 3 nights...we had an extra roll with us.. 6 towels for 4 woman each woman should have had 2 one for hair one for body. When asked for more we were told no so we said we would wash them daily we were told not had to conserve water ...no seating area for group converstaion. No designated parking had to park in yard glad it did not rain. House located too close to host house. Some window area without privacy covering. We are all seasoned travelers hands down worst place.... host intolerable ....... best to see this place in rear view mirror. We were on vacation not to be treated.as we were under daddys restrictions. We r all 71 yrs old and treated very disrespectfully. VRBO beeds to dump them. The property is rural however I am a farm girl poop needs to be cleaned off porchs

Comfortable and cozy cottage

Comfortable and cozy cottage out in the country. Enjoy the drive to College Station as the countryside is beautiful. The weather was rainy and cold at Kyle Field. It was a treat to return to the peace and quiet of the cottage and light the wood burning stove. Large kitchen and living area just as pictured. The host is friendly and helpful. Now that we’ve found this jewel, we will be back. Next trip we’ll bring our fishing poles!

About the host

Host profile image
For us, when we vacation somewhere, we want a view. We wanted to purchase land with a view that felt like a vacation spot you never want to leave. Our home is centrally located between the Cabin and Cottage and shares the amazing view with guests!

Why they chose this property

Like for many, COVID changed our lives. The change showed us our daily activities whittled down to their simplest form, and we started spending more time together as a family. This was a positive change that we needed more than we knew. We still had the stresses that come with running businesses in the midst of COVID (even more stress in a lot of ways), but our family life simplified and solidified.

In the fall of 2020, we made the move to 30 acres with a small house on a hill with 3 cows that we knew nothing about. When we would vacation, we would always search for "a view." We wanted the place that we called home to have a view we never wanted to leave. We are blessed to call this place home. We are transforming it into our Farm on a Hill where we have built our dream home with an incredible sunset view. We are working to restore the soil using permaculture principles. We are life-long learners and hope to give back by sharing our view and welcoming you to our Farm.
