About this property

Restored 1940's Resort Cabin On Flathead Lake, ~MT~

Two cabins, right on the lake and nestled on a cherry orchard, offer an ideal gathering spot for family reunions and large groups. The property was formerly a resort in the 1940s on pristine Flathead Lake in the Skidoo Bay area. The lower cabin was restored from the original 1940's resort cabin with a new addition added. Both cabins offer an excellent location with stunning views of the lake. Both cabins have a total of three gas fireplaces, three living rooms and fully furnished kitchens, 4.5 bathrooms, two balconies with up close views of the lake, two large decks and a large fire pit area right on the lake. The boat dock was rebuilt and the lakeshore was updated with a new seawall and improved landscaping allowing more lounging space. There are two washers and two dryers provided as well. With plenty of room to spread out it’s the perfect family stay for visitors with children. During cherry season (end of July beginning of August) visitors can enjoy famous regional Flathead cherries to their hearts content. The property offers enough privacy that you can hunker down and get away from everything for a peaceful retreat. This is a summer only rental with a ONE WEEK MINIMUM STAY. Events (e.g. weddings or other) must be pre-approved by owner. Additional cleaning fees and a bed tax apply. No smoking. Boats will need to be put in the lake in at the nearby Finley Point State Park. Boat dock may not be used for overnight mooring and boats should not be kept at the dock if the weather is unfavorable. Owner/Property Management Company is not liable for damage to watercraft if occurs. Parking for RVs or boats must be pre-approved by owner. We highly recommend guests purchase travel insurance as wildland fires can affect the area.

The cabins are only 8 miles from the nearest town and about 20 minutes from Big Fork, a great tourist destination. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Mission Mountains, Mission & Flathead valleys and Flathead Lake on your way to Glacier National Park, The Bison Range, and other Federal & State Parks all within a 2 hour drive or less. The lake is surrounded by State Parks that allow camping and have boat ramps. The perfect retreat for a visit in Big Sky Country.

Safety: Cameras are on the exterior of the premises for security purposes. Caution- cement pad, sea wall and boat dock are right on the water without rails. Decks that are high above ground, and stairs in both cabins, and high retaining wall by garage. Children must be supervised at all times. Front deck on lower cabin closest to water has 15 person max. capacity.

Beautiful location

This rental was perfect for our family. My brothers and parents live all over the country so we get together every other year somewhere new. This rental had plenty of room for all 14 of us and, considering we were right on the lake, we practically spent every minute staying on the property and enjoying the water and scenery. Highly recommend this location to anyone!

The location near Finley Point can't be beat! We spent much time kayaking, paddle boarding, and surfing, and the water was never crowded. We especially appreciated how well appointed the kitchens were, plenty of utensils and cookware. My family would love to stay here again. John T.

Cannot wait to return!

This place is amazing! Not only is the location perfect and the owners super responsive, they have (literally) every possible thing you could need! Honestly, all you need to bring is food and clothes. The lake temperature was perfect, the beds are comfy and the homes are beautiful!

Perfect Place for Family Reunion

The property was just what we needed to bring together 18 people from 5 families. We had plenty of space for sleeping, playing and dining. The beach area was perfect for kids to be jumping in and swimming. There were plenty of towels and even some sunscreen! We enjoyed picking some cherries and hanging out as a family. Brad got back to me right away each time I sent a message. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Family Vacation

This rental has everything provided and more! We were fortunate to have amazing weather, and we spent a lot of time enjoying the lake. The property is close to golfing, boat rentals, Big Fork Playhouse, and shopping. We were able to spend quality time with our family and enjoy the beautiful views from the cabins. Several days we enjoyed watching a bald eagle fly over as we sat in the many comfy sitting areas by the lake. This is a wonderful rental!

Very good place for large family reunion

We really enjoyed these two cabins. Plenty of space for our group. All three kitchens were very well stocked with all the needed items for cooking meals for 15-20 people. It was a quiet place, and the views each evening at sunset were spectacular. We especially enjoyed a few evenings of cooking s'mores over the fireplace down on the dock area.

Summer perfection...perfect for a large family.

We were all amazed at the spaciousness of this place. We all had room to spread out even with 15 adults and three youngsters. The older family stayed in the upper house and that was nice. The lake level was beautiful...really everything was thought of and I would love to stay again...

Family get together

The property was gorgeous and met our family needs. We had 6 adults, 3 teenagers, and 1 small child in the lower cabin and 6 adults and 3 children and a small child in the upper cabin. The upper cabin doesn’t have a living room located on the main level but does have a great deck where we gathered in the evening. The cabins are much more updated than pictured and decorated beautifully. Our only major complaint was communication regarding the fires. The cabin is located on mile marker 8 and the fires reached mile marker 9. We were following the local fire fighters FB page to get the most up to date information. Initially Brad was very responsive to our inquires regarding our access and then a little less responsive as the uncertainty increased. Overall it was stressful as 21 people were getting on flights and we didn’t know if we would have anywhere to stay. But once we gained access and everyone was settled we had a fabulous week!

Family Reunion 2021

This property was absolutely perfect for our 4 generation family consisting of 25 people from infant to 87 yrs old! The number of bathrooms in the lower house was challenging as was the descent to the dock for the older members of the group, but we all managed just fine and made wonderful memories.

Great property BUT

I have been planning a family reunion for at least two years, since we haven’t gotten together in so long - as our family is all over the country (and covid). We found this property and it was the perfect location for us - my brother in law brought his boat from Idaho, and we had enough space to have the older generations in one house and my generation with all of our kids in the other. We had a fantastic time. Here comes the “BUT” We followed all instructions (mind you VRBO said check out was noon but there was a sign in the cabin that said 10…) including stripping beds, bringing all garage to the cans at the top of the driveway even though there were not enough cans for the trash, we cleaned all dishes, and we did more cleaning like sweeping and wiping things down. After we left we got messages from the owner stating four beds were peed on, a light was broken, pillows were missing, and there was extra cleaning charges due to some spots of blood on the cement pad by the lake. At one point my niece scraped her leg (the blood) and one night my nephew wet his bunk bed…however that was early on in the trip and we cleaned the mattress & pad and sheets…NOT FOUR BEDS. The owner claimed there was a wet spot on one of the queen beds - which only had adults - and charged us for an entire new bed. Mind you the adults that slept there said there was a stain to begin with. The owner claimed we took throw pillows - we told him we put the extras in the utility closet…and we were flying home so there is no way we could have taken them. He charged us for the pillows. The owner claimed we broke an LED light - we did not…it was hanging down when we arrived. Needless to say this very poor interaction after we left the property left a very sour taste in our mouths. Be aware that the contract states the owner can charge up to $1000 for incidentals after your stay. He certainly took advantage of that. I have rented places all over the world, through VRBO and other rental companies, and never have I encountered this situation - I am still wrapping my head around the fact that this rental owner did this and I had to pay almost $700 extra. Going forward I am going to do a video walk through of any property I rent, before and at the end of our stay, stripping beds to confirm EXISTING stains on beds and noting when there are no waterproof covers on beds (it is a rental, that should be a non issue).

Perfection on Flathead for Large Families

This property exceeded expectations - the pictures don’t do it justice! The nearly ripe cherries was the cherry on top, literally. There was more than enough room to spread out between multiple families and with 3 kitchens, 3 living spaces, and 5 bathrooms we had more than enough space to do what everyone wanted. The 2 homes were decorated beautifully, with games and a few kids toys included to entertain the younger kids. We happened to stay during the heat wave, and there were fans for every bedroom and living space which helped out immensely.

Beautiful lake location

Beautiful property and location on the lake. We had fourteen in our group, so ten people sharing two baths in the lower unit was a little tight...especially since three of them were teen aged girls! There was lots to do in the area, so the location was perfect. Wish we could have been there in July when the cherries were ripe!

Great week on Flathead Lake

There were 19 of us and our family and friends had an amazing time. Brad was great at answering questions for us and helping us make our plans before, during and after. The homes are very well stocked with all kitchen supplies that you will ever need. I would suggest a breakdown on the bedroom configuration so you know what beds are in each location to better help you make decisions on who is sleeping where before you arrive. The dock was great for boats, paddle boards, floaties and jet skis too. Helpful to know there is a large rock out in front of the dock that you can use to anchor boats to as that helped us with 4 boats on most days tied to one another. Beautiful homes and very comfortable for everyone. We even enjoyed the cherry orchard every day! Delicious. Thank you for letting us use your home and we plan to be back!

A Magical Vacation

If you are looking for a Flathead location for a larger group that will provide you with top notch accomodations, an excellect location and long fun summer days, this is the place. We had more than enough space for our group of 24. The kitchens are well stocked and equipped with appliances that all great cooks will appreciate. Even the two sets of washers and dryers look brand new...you'll have laundry done in no time at all...if you're in to that sort of thing. :) Plenty of towels on hand, comfortable beds and soft sheets. The pictures don't do justice to the huge waterfront area where we enjoyed swimming, boating, kayaking and sitting by the fire pit to enjoy amazing sunsets every night. Yes, there are stairs and a short dirt path leading to the cement patio area, but we were grateful for the extra steps to burn off some of those vacation calories we consumed. My parents (in their 70's) opted to watch over everyone and enjoy the sunsets from the lower cabin balcony rather than navigate the path to the water, but they loved the experience. A short distance to town and a great restaurant two minutes down the road made our trip even better. Can't say enough good things about this place. The owners were so easy to work with and available anytime we had a question. We all had an amazing time!

Lake House Getaway

Old meets new in this fantastic lake house! The charm of the old log cabin along with the updated remodel made for a unique mountain and lake experience. There was plenty of room for our large family dinners and lots of areas to find privacy when needed. Both kitchens were fully stocked with anything you could possibly need. The access to the water was great for the kids and adults and we had a so much fun kayaking around the lake! We traveled with a multi-generational party (3 Generations) and it was difficult for the older members of our party to walk down the steep path to the water so I wouldn't recommend this for anyone with limited mobility. The views of Flathead Lake from all levels of the house were breathtaking. Two decks as well as the dock provided ample seating for sunset gazing - which we never tired of! The property sits on a cherry orchard and we were there just in time to sample some of the famous Flathead Cherries - the kids loved picking cherries and making a homemade pie! Overall everyone had a great time and we are hoping to come back to this house next year!

East Shore is the best shore!

Summer sun and swimming until after 9pm each night. The fire pit is right on the shore and there are tables, chairs and sun umbrellas for everyone. The location is the absolute strength of this place and it is tough to beat. The property (in and out) is clean. The 2 kitchens came in handy for us - we had early breakfasts and coffee in the upper kitchen to accommodate the later risers sleeping below. Dinners were made in the lower kitchen to be closer to the charcoal grill and lake. Stay here and have a great time.

A Piece of Montana Paradise

Welcome to Montana paradise, where crystal blue waters, pine forested mountains, and breathtaking sunsets set the stage for this rustic, lakeside cabin. This was the ultimate gathering spot for our family with ample room for rest and relaxation amongst cozy western decor. The two well equipped kitchens, with lovely amenities for storage and food prep, made feeding the masses easy. It was the perfect casual retreat spot with lake access on tap for all water play. We were nestled on the border of a cherry orchard looking right over the water’s edge, and were only 15 minutes from Polson or 30 minutes from the quaint, artsy town of Bigfork. The views were spectacular, and sipping coffee on the deck overlooking the lapping waves, watching hummingbirds flutter about in the crisp morning air: priceless! Whether it was lounging lakeside, roasting s’mores, kayaking beautiful Flathead Lake’s shoreline, or planning an amazing trip to Glacier National Park, these alpine adventures were waiting right outside our door. This will become a tradition for our family for many years to come.

Fabulous, inviting and very family oriented.

It is amazing, the cabin is right on the lake. The recent renovations allow even more room for additional family members to come and stay with us. The property is clean and very well maintained, the cherry orchard on the property is an added bonus. Town is about 15 minutes away if you should need something. It is my one of my favorite vacation rentals and I recommend it to all my friends and family. Love it!

Excellent rental!

We stayed at this cabin last year and it's absolutely wonderful! It's exactly as described and more. Beautiful views from the cabin! The boat dock is big and convenient for close great fishing. Everything in the cabin was very nice and we had plenty of linens, dishes, hot water (on demand), and it has a very homey feel. Would recommend this rental!!!!

Why they chose this property

The pristine lake, water activities and mountainous views are breathtaking. Nature is right out your front door and the cabin is tucked away just enough that you feel like you've escaped the daily demands of life. We still go there to get away and just be a family. Every visit builds more incredible memories for our family and friends. Visitors are still close enough to town that they can jump in the car and visit Polson or Bigfork for entertainment and sightseeing, all less than a half hour away.

What makes this property unique

It's a special opportunity to lodge in a restored old cabin and have the best of both worlds; the old and the new. The best thing about Flathead Lake is the simplicity and beauty of the destination. The cabin is on a cherry orchard so there's nothing better than picking a fresh bowl of cherries right off the trees during cherry season and walking down to the lake to eat the cherries in the sun with your feet hanging off the boat dock. Jet skiing is a great way to see the lake and cool off or you can pack a picnic lunch and head out to visit an island on the lake and fish, watch the wildlife or just explore. Gathering around the fire pit and roasting marshmallows or hot dogs and watching the sun set is another family favorite. It's the perfect place to hunker down and relax taking a dip in the lake when you feel like it and then reading a book as you sit by the water and lay in the sun. Visitors can also enjoy cooking a nice meal as they watch the view of the lake from the window. After a long day of sightseeing you can enjoy a soak in the jetted tub and cozy up to the gas fire place. Another simple pleasure is eating a nice meal as you sit on the deck overlooking the lake with a glass of wine. It's a little slice of heaven in Big Sky Country.
