We really enjoyed our stay. The home was exactly as described & very clean, new & nicely decorated. Kitchen well supplied. We enjoyed the outdoor deck. The drive from the main road is pretty rough but we were in a Jeep, so we were ok & knew that before. We enjoyed exploring the entire island. We would stay here again.

The house was very nice, had most everything needed except the coffee pot did not work, so we just used the French press. Unfortunately we did not check and were unaware that only bedrooms had air conditioning!! During the day the common areas of the house were so hot one could not remain in house much less cook anything! Also, down the hill from the house is garbage dump which smelled horribly and even at times could be smelled at top of hill where house is located! As for the road up the hill to the house, it is terrible and not much more than a horse trail with very large rocks and deep trenches! Don’t even try the road if not in a jeep! And pray you don’t meet another vehicle coming the other direction! If the house were in a different location and had A/C in common areas I would definately stay again. However, with the issues I have mentioned I would not stay again!

Nice house, bad location
Banana Sweet is a really cute house. They have done a great job making the inside very nice and charming; however, the location is one of the worst on the island and my husband and I have been coming to St. John for years. The house is located just above an old junk yard and down the street from the dumpsters, both of which have attracted homeless people, making the location feel unsafe. Additionally, we expect the roads to require 4WD on the island, however, the road up to Banana Sweet is about 75% unpaved and incredibly rocky. Many would not feel comfortable with this drive and this is mentioned nowhere in the description. We would not stay here again.
This was the second part of our trip to the islands and it was our favorite despite rain. Do not hesitate to book this property. It was the BEST property I have ever rented. Things to know:
1) the view is indescribable, pictures do not begin to compare to the beauty of the property inside and out, and we enjoyed just sitting on the balcony and listening to the birds and feeling the breeze. Even my 17 year old did. Even when it down-poured it was enjoyable. Loved the hummingbirds!
2) the place was so well equipped and the kitchen was amazing! It truly felt like home.
3) I panicked when they didn’t send an address to me in advance and thought I’d been taken. The reason is that an address will NOT help you at all. They truly need to lead you to the property. You WILL need a jeep or other 4WD vehicle with good clearance. Just get the jeep-you will regret it if you don’t. Everyone gets one here and for a good reason. I have pictures of the parking lots full of jeeps. Don’t skip this one.
4) bring your own snorkel gear which will be way less expensive and much more convenient especially since many of the bays don’t have rentals on this island. It’s not like st Thomas.
5) everything shuts down early in coral bay. Not a party town-go elsewhere if that’s what you want. We did St Thomas first and that was fun too-different. This is quiet natural beauty.
6) we are outdoorsy hikers. This was our favorite island of the three. Felt very safe too.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Banana Sweet. The place was clean and comfortable, the views from the deck panoramic, and the hosts were helpful and well organized. Coral Bay is a very cool spot and there is endless places to explore. Great trip! Thank you!
My wife and I chose Banana Sweet for our honeymoon on St. John, and we couldn’t have been happier. We were in the lower unit which gave us plenty of privacy, and the owner has taken great care to create a modern and clean rental. They have snorkel gear, beach chairs, and coolers; which was great since we didn’t have to spend time and money finding a place to rent them to us. We had great views of the valley and Coral Bay! And there are some great restaurants, Skinny Legs, Rhumb Lines, and Love City Cafe a short drive away. Highly recommend renting a dinghy to get lunch on Lime Out on the water. It is only accessible by boat, and definitely a memorable experience! There is an awesome breeze that flows through the apartment. The unit has AC, but honestly you shouldn’t need to use it. We enjoyed having the windows open and listening to all the jungle life and feeling the cool breeze instead while sleeping at night. In short, we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend staying at Banana Sweet! We can’t wait to come back!

We just love St. John and traveled here often so we took the plunge and bought this cute home in hopes of staying here a few months a year.
What makes this property unique
Close to Coral bay and the east end of st john. The sunrises are wonderful and the evening breezes on the deck are soothing after a day in the sun.
