Our family stayed at this property the first three weeks of March. This is a beautiful home, in a great neighborhood with lots of room. The house was clean, well stocked and the beds were comfortable. The number one reason we booked this home, with our family, was for the heated pool. Sadly on day 2, it became apparent that the pool heater was not working. Due to the temperature of the pool we could not use it as we had planned to. Unfortunately, because this was a warranty issue, the homeowners could not fix the heater for our entire stay. A partial refund was worked out, but we did not get the holiday we had hoped for.
The place was perfect for our family of six. Laurie was an amazing host and made special accommodations when we arrived early and had a late check out when our flight was later in the evening. The outdoor space is awesome and the interior was incredible. We highly recommend staying here.
High Maintenance! every room was a photo-op (especially restrooms), gorgeous property, inside & out. Not a place for children and pets.
I would definitely go to "North Mountain", again (just me and my BFF$).
My wife and I have never been to Phoenix and we were looking forward to warm weather, golf, and relaxing by a pool. The only positive comment is the inside of the house was clean. The kitchen is well stocked. Unfortunately, I cannot say anything else positive. First, one must duck under the flowering shrub and walk in the pebbles to get to the front door, not the best when you are rolling 2 suitcases and 2 golf bags. The real problem is the backyard. The weather was in the high 80's and low 90's for our stay, which was great, but the pool was not heated. Nowhere in the description off the house or in the communication with the owner is this important fact noted. The little surface thermometer that tells the temperature of the water (4 inches down), never got above 64 degrees. The pool was not able to be used.
The chairs needed to be washed as the neighbor in the back of the house feeds the birds (pigeons, doves, and others) so some of the furniture should have been cleaned for our arrival. We attempted to clean them, but there was no hose. The grill (which I took pictures of) still had food on the grills and a wire brush that should not be used (as bristles will break off). The grill had not been kept clean for some time. It is because of these issues I would not recommend a stay. The house is old and tired.
This home is very comfortable and better than advertised. Kitchen is well stocked, beds are comfortable, the house is very spacious. Laurie is great to work with and very responsive. Great location as well. This home is one of the best VRBO’s we’ve ever stay at.
This home is very clean, spacious, and quite comfortable. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is well stocked, and the backyard is nice to hang out in. The home is in a great location, close to everything. We would stay here again.
We have family in the Phoenix area and planned to all come together here this year for the holidays. Two families shared this house- myself and my husband and a family of five (2 adults, 3 kids, 6yr-11yr) and a medium size dog. It was so comfortable- layout was fantastic. Had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable, showers were great. Plenty of plates, bowls, silverware, cutting boards. Close to the MIM (15-20min), botanic garden (20min), and the airport (20min). We couldn’t have asked for a better home for what we needed. Hosts were very responsive and kind. Little too cold to use the pool- maybe next time!
We had a wonderful stay. The house was very well appointed with everything we could need. The pool was gorgeous and we spent a lot of time enjoying it and the beautiful yard.
Communication with the host was great mWe would definitely recommend this place to friends and family and would love to stay here again.
This house is in a nice neighborhood and great location. Very comfortable beds, big living area and besutiful backyard. Very well appointed. Would definitely rent again.
Great location near Grand Canyon University for move out weekend. The Extra Space Storage unit we rented was 5 minutes away, and campus was 10-20 minutes away depending on traffic.
We had great access to restaurants for our busy move days, and the kitchen had the essentials we needed for meals on our relaxing days. Eating at the table out back under the shade was lovely. The pool was clean and a nice break from the 90*+ heat in April.
Our children are now young adults, so we are always looking for locations with 4 separate beds. This location was perfect with 4 separate bedrooms. The bedrooms are all on one side of the house. Living/dining areas are on the opposite side. The photos accurately represent all rooms.
Check out directions are clear and posted on the fridge. They include very minimal requests like stripping sheets, starting the dishwasher, and putting trash in receptacle outside.
This house has plenty of space to spread out. Perfect place to kick back and relax. The owner was quick to respond with any questions. We would stay here again.
The house is even better than the pictures show. It's very spacious and has everything you could need. The owners are great people and are very prompt if you have any questions. Check in /check out was a breeze. New gas grill was awesome for cooking meals! Everyone enjoyed swimming in the heated pool. There's a private work space with doors you can close. This was perfect since 3 of us are retired and 1 had to work during the day.. The house is close to grocery stores and other shopping, as well as golf, hiking, and baseball spring training. We cant wait to come back!
The property was really clean, comfortable, well-kept and well-furnished. My family, with grown-up children stayed here over the holidays while visiting our extended family in the area, and the house was a great home away from home for us. The owners were also were also really great and easy to work wirh.

About the host
Hosted by Carl and Laurie Abrams
We bought this house in 2022 so that we could be able to visit our daughter who is attending college in Glendale. We love Oeste Retreat and want to share it with others.
Why they chose this property
The home is very centrally located and is close to Glendale. Established neighborhood that is close to golfing, swimming, bike paths etc. Its out of the main city of Phoenix, but close enough to get anywhere in town.
What makes this property unique
Our home is a Taste of the West. We took advantage of some of the decor already in the home to bring some of the southwestern and western theme to life. Gorgeous original wood floors, and wood ceiling gives a unique feel to the home.
