About this property

The Guest Cottages at La Fourche

Welcome to the guest cottages at La Fourche. These three, one-bedroom cottages are perfect for several family gatherings or corporate retreats. Each unit offers a private and luxurious self-contained living space with a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom, living room (with convertible couch), and full bath. All three were stylishly renovated in 2021, and feature a mixture of antique and modern furnishings thoughtfully chosen for elegance and comfort. Each unit can comfortably hold 2-3 guests.

The space
This listing includes 3 one-bedroom cottages- The Smokehouse, The Doctor's Cottage, and the Tavern.

The Smokehouse
This fully renovated cottage includes a mix of antiques and modern furnishings thoughtfully chosen for elegance and comfort. The updated and fully equipped kitchen includes brand new appliances. The living room is located just off the kitchen, and includes a convertible couch that is perfect for children or an additional 3rd guest, as well as a dining table and counter seating facing through the opening to the kitchen. French doors lead you to a private outdoor patio seating with wonderful views of the property and countryside. The beautifully appointed bedroom features a king size bed, and black out curtains to ensure the best night sleep! The renovated bathroom with shower and tub is located directly outside the entrance to the bedroom.

The Smokehouse is located on a historic property that was originally developed in 1788 as a tavern/inn, and served as a center for regional travel, mail, and voting during America’s early days. Distinguished figures including Marquis de Lafayette stopped at the tavern on their way to visit Thomas Jefferson at Monticello. The Smokehouse was at one point a functioning smokehouse and kitchen for the property. It has since been updated several times to serve as a cozy and attractive guest house. Its bucolic setting and privacy make it the perfect location for a relaxing getaway.

The Doctor's Cottage
This fully renovated cottage includes a mix of antiques and modern furnishings thoughtfully chosen for elegance and comfort. The entrance is through a private courtyard with outdoor seating. Guests arrive into the updated and fully equipped kitchen with a dining table for two as well as two barstools for countertop meals. The living room is located just off the kitchen, and includes a convertible couch that is perfect for children or an additional 3rd guest. The bedroom is behind the kitchen, and features a queen size bed (with blackout curtains to ensure the best night's sleep!) and a renovated ensuite full bath with a luxurious large shower.

At one point, The Doctor's Cottage served as the office for the doctor who resided at the property's main house. It has since been updated and expanded to serve as a cozy and attractive guest house. With views of Montalto towards Monticello, this is the perfect location for a relaxing getaway.

The Tavern
Attached to the back of the property's main house, the tavern is completely secluded, with a private entrance and parking. You enter through the updated and fully equipped kitchenette which includes a microwave, half fridge, dishwasher and stove to meet your cooking needs. The living room includes a convertible couch that is perfect for children or an additional guest, as well as a dining table for two. This large space can be closed off from the kitchen, making it private and quiet from the rest of the cottage. Walk up one flight of stairs to enjoy a beautifully appointed desk space on the French windowed landing of the second floor. The second floor bedroom (with blackout curtains to ensure the best night's sleep!) features a queen size bed, as we all a trundle bed that comfortably sleeps two additional guests if needed during your stay. The full renovated bathroom is also located on the second floor, and offers beautiful views of the countryside.
