Beautiful home, very clean. This house has been nicely renovated while still retaining the charm of an older home. Brought back many fond memories of St. Marys from my youth.
Very clean, spacious house but on a busy, noisy street. Lots of tractor trailer traffic all night. There was no soap provided in the bathrooms or coffee for the coffee pot. These little things would have made the stay much better.
This was our second time staying at Dan & Cheryl's VRBO and thoroughly enjoyed it. Aside from being incredibly charming, the house was clean and comfortable and Dan & Cheryl were great with communication.
This beautifully restored historic home was comfortable, welcoming and had great beds and pillows…something I think is really important.
You’ll find a large dining room table with 6 chairs, several sitting rooms, a full bathroom up and down with lots of towels and washcloths and hand towels. A dishwasher, dishes, full refrigerator and range and adequate pans and silverware and glasses and cups were supplied along with dishwasher and dish soap. A washer and dryer were a big bonus along with detergent.
The small lacking items were shampoo, conditioner and soap in the showers. Had we known, we could have had some with us. Some of the rooms had night tables, some did not. A work table or space in the kitchen would have been helpful…we took the liberty to move the basement table to the kitchen for our stay. If you do not plan to prepare meals, it would be ok as the kitchen is.
The small things that were lacking were overwhelmed by the beauty of the old oak pocket doors, trim and floors, the awesome leaded crystal in the windows and doors and most importantly the location…you can walk the short block to the town of St. Marys and if you read and follow the historic walking tour provided you will have an even better appreciation of this home.
It is my understanding this home was saved from being torn down and we guests were happy the owners embraced this project.
When we return to St. Marys we will be pleased to stay in this home again
Thank you….Irene Glass
We were in the area for a wedding, and this property was perfect for several couples to spend the weekend and enjoy wedding festivities! It was VERY spacious, updated, but still with so much charm and character. We appreciated the two full sized (updated bathrooms). Convenient for accessing activities around St. Marys and walkable to downtown. It was clean and check in super easy! Would stay again if we are ever in the area.
The home is beautifully renovated, well equipped, meticulously clean and perfectly located close to shops and dining. Owners/managers are very friendly and easily accessible. The house is spacious and can easily accommodate a large family. My only complaints: Parking situation is a bit unusual and truck traffic on Main Street is constant. Bedrooms and bathroom need window treatments.
Our family had such a nice stay at Don and Cheryl's rental. It was clean, in a convenient location and a great size for our group. We will absolutely stay here again.
Great sized home with a lot of space. Beautiful inside and out. Plus for it being on a main street/highway and not being that loud. Kept very clean, and easy to get into.
This house was clearly recently renovated and by far the most amazing place to stay in town. Steps away from the diamond and lots of parking with a long driveway. Huge amount of great room space for a small family weekend stay over Thanksgiving. Really nice touches in the sitting room and even had a lighted Christmas tree set up The back sun room was particularly great as it gave a nice quiet place to hang out, talk, and play some board games while the toddler slept.
Few cons/recommendations:
- The windows have no insulation and during the winter this is a problem because the heating in the house is inconsistent. Prepare to bundle up a bit with extra layers on cold evenings and days (the thermostat is locked for adjustments at 69, probably not to overload the heat system). Not much you can do about this with it being an old house and it didn't detract from the stay.
- Easiest enhancement to this rental would be new beds. The beds are terrible, noisy, hard, and this was also a complaint that every person had in every room.
Even with those two points above, would still highly recommend this house. Hope to stay here again on future visits to St. Marys. Thank you!
Our family enjoyed our time. The house was as described. It was a very beautiful home. Easy access. No problems at all. Will definitely rent this house again. Thanks so much to Don and Cheryl Ruffner for having such a beautiful home. It was wonderful
