New Paltz, Woodstock, Minnewaska, Mohonk Preserves, Shawangunk Ridge are all within the short 20 min drive.

House is a part of historical heritage of Stone Ridge and used to belong to a local blacksmith and possibly Mr Cooper himself who has his shop set up on the first floor.

A lot of small details were thought out for the guests to be comfortable, to cook meals and enjoy the place. We are serious about the cleanliness and service, ready to go the extra step to make sure guests enjoy their stay and keep improving the place all the time.

The house is located in Historical district of Stone Ridge, NY and within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, arts centers, yoga and more.

Mohonk preserve and famous Minnewaska State Park are within a short 20 minutes drive with its well-maintained biking trails, crystal clear swimmable lakes, hiking trails, rock climbing and breathtaking views of the Hudson valley from over 2,000 feet high.

Public transportation

Directions from New York City:

There is a regular bus service from Port Authority bus terminal near Time Square. You will get off either in town of Rosendale NY and then take Uper/Lyft to arrive in 10 minutes (about $15) or you get off earlier in New Paltz and the bus station ticket officer will arrange a taxi ride for you which will take about 15 minutes (about $20-$25)

You can buy bus tickets directly from the bus operator, Trailways.

Local bus:

Local bus stop is within 7 walking minutes. It goes to Kingston in the North and Kerhonkson in the South.

Things to do around:
Apartment is located within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, yoga studios and groceries. There is also plenty of active stuff to do including biking, hiking, swimming, rock-climbing, skydiving, paragliding, wine tasting, restaurants, art centers, organic farms, harvest (apples, blueberries, peach, raspberry etc.) picking, caving, stargazing and many more. Please check our guestbook for more information

Water quality note:
We live in the Gunks and water is well known to have minerals including sulfur, so it is normal to feel some smell at times. It might get better or worse depending on the season and quality of the underground water. We do have water treatment systems installed. First stage is a large particle water filter which I usually change every 2-3 weeks. Second stage is a Clack water with filter medium that handles hard water. We also have professional water system service that maintain our water system periodically. Additionally kitchen sinks are equipped with faucet filters (changed monthly) making the water suitable for drinking.

Other guests:
Please take a note that if you rent 2nd floor apartment there might be guests on the 1st floor and you will most probably hear them as it is an old colonial house and installation is not to the modern standards. Also there are double doors between upstairs and downstairs apartment that are securely latched for privacy from both sides.
.
Local shopping:
There are a number groceries within walking distance from the house:

First recommendation is Emmanuel's Market Place. It is about 10-15 min away on Main street going right from the house.

Davenport Farms is on Main street 15 minutes away going right from the house.

Finally, you can use Corner Store at Mobile gas station for basic necessities. it is also on Main street and only 3-5 minutes going left. It is open 24/7.

very nicely decorated, lovely views out the back into the woods, had everything we needed...plenty of towels, comfy bed. Really good sushi restaurant 1 minute walk away. Very clean, very homey, nice original art all around. Not super quiet- we could hear street traffic and a little people sound from downstairs but it didn't bother us. Complaints in other reviews about sulpher smelling water really not that bad

Really cute apartment, just not right for our needs

Very clean and colorful, fun decor, lots of thoughtful touches and amenities. We love that they left lights on for us (including romantic tea lights throughout the apartment!) since we arrived late in the evening. Unfortunately, the downstairs renters were in our parking spot that night, but we managed to squeeze in next to them and they parked on their side of the house the next day. Our main complaints were (1) mattress was extremely firm--fine for me but not my husband; he had to sleep on the couch (2) downstairs renters were socializing late one night--it was just normal conversation, but the house is older, so there was nothing to buffer the noise; it was like they were having a conversation in our bedroom (3) the hot water faucet in the shower was not working properly (no hot water on the second day and very difficult to shut off both days); (4) the sulfur smell in the water was really strong--the entire apartment smelled like sulfur when we returned at the end of the second day. I dreaded washing my face and hands, brushing my teeth, taking a shower, washing dishes because of the smell. We were advised of the sulfur issue, but not until a few days before we arrived. There was a filter at the kitchen sink to make the water safe to drink, but it still smelled/tasted of sulfur. Wish we had brought bottled water. We live in an old house and appreciate that they have quirks, but this property just didn't meet our needs for a restful vacation.

Great place to stay

I was in town for a 5 day training and this apt was the perfect spot for my stay. Had everything I needed and then some. The apt is cute, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. I’ll try to stay here again next time I’m in town.

Stone Ridge

There's much to love about this property; charming old house, spacious layout, decor, art work, proximity to restaurants, and the view out the dining/kitchen area. The only drawback, from my point of view, is the sulfur smell of the water. Turns out this is common for the area.

Great bed and shower, nice choice of wall colors, cool furnishings. Good Asian fusion restaurant a stone’s throw away. Property is an older home and feels somewhat rickety. There’s no TV either. Neither of these things were problematic for me, but others might find them so.

Everything in the property was as described-nice teas and great pots for making tea and coffee. Comfortable bed and great shower. Bathroom lighting was a bit dim but we were there only one night so it was not a huge problem.

Eh.

Had question for host and was messaged back with an automated response. Very interesting wall art… & No TV. And shades would NOT pull down… no privacy could see right in the windows of lights on. Had to use towels to cover 2 of the windows.
