Charming little home in a beautiful, rural setting

Hubby and I were headed to the Root River for a biking get away. We had hoped to stay in Lanesboro, but nothing was available for the first weekend in October. I had never heard of Wykoff, but took a chance based on stellar reviews. Tammy is an excellent host — quick to respond to my many questions and even my odd request. This was her in-laws house, and it is lovingly updated to include BIG Roku TV, as well as a king-sized COMFY bed in the main bedroom (other room had a double and a twin). Bathroom was spacious and beautiful — plenty of towels, shampoo, soap, etc. Kitchen, living room were both spacious and comfy. Kuerig coffee maker made us budget our coffee use … I had brought my own ground coffee, wrongly assuming there would be a coffeemaker… we were restricted to the provided K-Cups. (NOTE — you may want to bring your own K-Cups). We had glorious weather and the most wonderful time on the bike trail. Both Lanesboro and Whalen were celebrating fall festivals, so there was music, food in the parks, free buggy rides. We did 4 Daughters Winery (and were disappointed in the limited selection), we loved the Branding Iron in Preston and Stellar 185 Tap House in Spring Valley. The highlight was stopping at all the Amish Farms and buying their bakery and craft items… we had been here/done that 25 years ago, and it really felt like a step back to a simpler, more peaceful time. We left so relaxed and refreshed. We absolutely will be back again! 💕

Great spot for a family get away

Small town, great people and the kids loved the house location as there is a playground right down the block. Very clean home, everyday essentials are onsite (that made it really convenient). A couple of the beds were pretty firm along with some of the pillows too. Overal it was a great experience.

Clean place and convenient location

The house was clean and had everything we needed, including a well equipped kitchen. The location was perfect for our activities in Forestville State Park, and biking out of Lanesboro.

Quaint Family Getaway

This home was perfect for our little family. It had everything we needed to make meals, relax with a movie, and have a peaceful sleep. We explored many of the area's state parks and little towns, making this a central location for doing that.

Adorable house in quiet town

I was lucky to book this house very last minute for a getaway with some girlfriends. It had all of the amenities that we needed and we absolutely loved the historical touches and decor. It was close and convenient to a variety of other towns with things to do, arts and food and breweries, distilleries and wineries, not to mention the rivers and bluffs that make up the driftless region, while being able to come back to the house and relax, cook, play games and watch tv. Tammy was a great host, very welcoming and responsive, it was a pleasure to stay here!

Immaculate Mid Century jewel!

The host Tammy was great about communicating before, during and after check in. House is in a small farm community and is very clean and for the most part very quiet. The house is near a main county road so there is the intermittent loud truck or ambulance to break the silence. The house had everything we needed for linens and utensils. The house is completely updated too so everything functions well. If you are looking for a great place to land after hiking or biking on the trails in bluff country this is it!!!

Sister time

This was a great property for our needs. Very clean and comfortable. Located on the outskirts of a quiet little town. So much to do in the area. Gateway Inn was a great place for breakfast. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Kayaking headquarters

Perfect place to stay for meals and overnight while kayaking each day. The farming countryside is beautiful, quiet at night, reasonable driving time to rivers. Two couples stayed 2 nights in mid August. Just what we needed.
