Beautiful Home, Badly in Need of Repair
Our stay was the week after Hurricane Beryl. Owner advsd that the home was currently w/out power; but the house had minimal damage & they were hopeful the power would be back on in time for our stay. Around noon on the day of our check-in, the owner advsd that the lights had come back on the day before & they were working to get the property clean. This was not a big deal for us. We were able to get into the house about 40 minutes later; again, not a big deal.
There were some simple issues, missing tiles in a shower, a TP holder that fell off, the dryer had to be run 2-3 cycles, ceiling fans that didn’t work/dirty, blinds that needed to be replaced or repaired. But, there were some issues that were more concerning: several of the patio chairs needed to be repaired or replaced. There were nails all over the deck. The direct beach access does NOT actually go to the beach, but, half-way across the dunes. The decking on the front needs to be replaced-there is a board that gives, just as you step out the door of the living room to the deck.
The storm damage SHOULD have delayed our stay:
The house, wreaked of mold. We eventually found mold on the beach facing walls & door frames, outlets & windows throughout the house. We found a large basket in the living room with throw blankets in it that were soaking wet. The basket had mold on the bottom.
The storm damage upstairs was significant. The ceiling was hanging in several places. It was not safe. I do have pictures, unable to upld.
