About this property

the Sunset House - modern comfort with spectacular views

Welcome to the Sunset House in Leadville, Colorado!

We call it the Sunset House because it faces directly west and has spectacular views of 14,000 ft peaks from upstairs and downstairs porches. These porches include comfortable chairs to relax and recount the day's adventures as the sun sets, or to sip some morning coffee and be beckoned to adventure.

Newly Built Modern Home
The home has high ceilings on the main floor and vaulted ceilings on the second floor for a very spacious open feel on three levels over 2200 square feet. There are large open windows that highlight the amazing views. This is a new home constructed in 2022 and first available for short term rent in 2023. Every aspect of this home is modern and clean while having some rustic mountain character in the furnishings.

Three Relaxing Inside Living Areas for Everyone
On the Main Floor, there are two living areas, one for the TV streaming/movie watching with comfortable chairs and built in seating by the window. The other area is by the fireplace on leather furniture for relaxation, conversation, reading, game playing folk with a coffee table, an especially cozy feel in the winter months. In the Basement, there is an additional TV watching/living dining area so two groups (for example, adults and kids) can watch different programs.

Fully Equipped Main Kitchen + Second Limited Kitchen
The main kitchen has all the amenities to prepare hearty meals that will surely follow mountain activities, which can be enjoyed from a high-top kitchen island. The kitchen is complete with quartz counters and stainless appliances, including a gas range and a variety of small appliances. The basement includes a partially equipped second kitchen with a smaller fridge, a hot plate, microwave, sink and additional dishwasher.

Plenty of Room to Sleep 9 people.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms with 4 beds including a King bed, a Queen bed and 2 Full-size beds in a Bunk configuration. Downstairs in the Basement are two additional bedrooms, one with a Queen size bed and one with a Full size beds for a total of 6 beds to comfortably sleep 9 people. No pull out couches or temporary beds necessary.

Amenities on Every Floor
There are two baths upstairs, one master bath ensuite with a shower and dual sinks and the other with a shower over tub. The upstairs also includes a full sized laundry with washer and dryer. The Main Floor has the Kitchen, the Half-Bath, the Two Living Areas, one with a fireplace and one for TV watching with built in window seating, the lower balcony, the rear deck, and the Mudroom. The Downstairs Basement has an 4th bath with Shower over Tub, the additional Kitchen, and and an additional Laundry.

High Speed Internet
The home is connected to high speed fiber internet operating at 75mbs+ so everyone in your group can be online and streaming.

Amazing Location
The home makes a great "base camp" for everything Leadville has to offer. We love that it is so close to many amenities including the Mineral Belt Trail that passes right next to the house which is great for walking, running, hiking, biking or cross country ski right from the door. The home is on the north end of town so you can get quick access to Copper Mountain or Ski Cooper, two favorite ski destinations or maybe a snowshoe or summer hike at Mayflower Gulch and many other destinations. Short walk to Freight event venue. And still a short 10 minute walk walk will bring you to the main street of historic downtown Leadville, with many museum, dining and shopping options, including historic Tabor Opera House.

Parking and Garage
There are 2 off-street parking spaces, one in the garage and one outside next to the garage in the rear of the home for easy loading in and out into the mudroom. Garage also provides secure storage for bikes and skis. Additional parking available within a short walk on city streets.

Licensed and Inspected Short Term Rental
This rental has a license from the City of Leadville, is inspected by City Fire Marshall and the lodging taxes paid by you support affordable housing and tourism programs in Leadville.

Host profile image
We are a family owned and managed micro-business (Cloud City MBG, LLC) hosting this brand new getaway in Leadville, Co. I am Aaron, the property manager and owner and I am happy to share our place in Leadville with others when we are not using it ourselves.

Why they chose this property

Leadville is my favorite mountain town, here are just a few things to do in Leadville: Tabor Opera House - https://taboroperahouse.org Built in 1879, at the peak of Leadville's silver boom days, the Tabor Opera House offers daily summer tours, telling both the building's fascinating history and enjoy music, comedy or theater. Bike the Mineral Belt This 12 mile loop around the city paves the way through the mining district, offering spectacular views of Colorado's two highest peaks (Elbert & Massive) and interpretive signage of wayside mining history. You can rent both e-bikes and regular bikes in town. ATV Tour the Leadville Mining District - https://www.elkmountainadventures.com/ Tour Leadville's famous historic mining district with a guide or drive yourself, in a 4-wheel vehicle. Leadville Railroad - https://leadvillerailroad.com Sit back for a 2 1/2 hr scenic train ride while learning about Leadville's colorful history. Open cars and closed cars, both available. Zipline - https://www.topoftherockieszipline.com Strap up for the nation's only zipline that crosses over a train. Golf - https://www.mtmassivegolf.com Try out the nation's highest public golf course (9-hole) at the base of Mt. Massive. Balls fly farther here. Fishing - https://coloradoflyfishingguides.com They'll send you to the best spots on the Arkansas River. Hikes - too many to mention here, but email me, for suggestions. National Mining Museum - https://www.mininghalloffame.org Great for all ages. has some great "experiential/walk thru" displays. Leadville Heritage Museum - https://www.uncovercolorado.com/museums/leadville-heritage-museum. Tells the colorful history of the city's boom and bust. The best place to see exhibits of Leadville's Ice Palace. Baby Doe's Cabin/Matchless Mine - Open for daily tours. When Horace Tabor died in 1899, he told his wife, Baby Doe, "Hold onto the Matchless!" She did so and died there, penniless, in 1935.

What makes this property unique

This property is in a unique row of 5 homes with these amazing views, and open space in front which gives you a feel of being on top of the world, or at least the state of Colorado! It is brand new built in 2022. Although there are many historic buildings and homes to view and enjoy in charming downtown Leadville, its nice to be comfortable in a new home with mountain-modern style.
