About this property
Artist's home and studio, full of space, light and artwork
You enter the Studio via the lovely courtyard, where sculptures and huge pots with plants share the space, covered at one end by a wisteria giving delicious shade.
This house is the former home of a well known international sculptor, where she lived for over 35 years and which is still full of her work. The current owner and friend of the artist hopes her guests will enjoy the very special atmosphere of the house, which is very much a home and not just a place to be rented out.
Once inside, there is the large living room with comfy leather sofa at one end and dining table in front of a wonderful fireplace at opposite end; a small very well equipped kitchen with dishwasher. A bathroom with shower. Glass doors lead from the living room into the studio, with the many portrait heads and busts created by the original owner on shelves lining the walls. A feeling of studio still exists. The windows take up one wall of this room and offer a panoramic view over the valley to the sea beyond. It is such a pleasure to relax on the sofa in front of these windows and soak up the view. The high ceiling adds to the wonderful feeling of space and light. Glass doors open on to a very private terrace perfect for aperitivos at sunset time and with dining table and beautiful view, including looking through the huge picture window back into the studio. It is all very visual, and so enjoyable to have the choice of many places to sit and take it all in.
There is a shared swimming pool.
The Studio is part of the hamlet of Peralta (peraltatuscany.com), a cluster of houses with médiéval origins discovered in ruins over 40 years ago by the late sculptor Fiore de Henriquez. She gradually restored all the houses and created the unique, inspiring place that today welcomes individual guests, workshops, etc. The Studio was the first house she restored and became Fiore's home and her studio. It is now privately owned by a friend of Fiore, but its guests can use all the amenities offered by Peralta which include a bar and dining room/terrace, also offering the possibility of 'takeaway' dishes to be enjoyed in The Studio itself - a great bonus after a busy day away. Peralta and The Studio are just ten minutes by car from the market town of Camaiore in the valley where there are several supermarkets, a wonderful delicatessen, good butchers, fishmonger etc.
Peralta is surrounded by olive groves with chestnut woods not far away and there are lovely walks. It is a very peaceful place with no cars nor scooters.
Although part of Peralta, the Studio House is totally private and its terrace is surrounded by olive groves. An opportunity to get away from the 'real' world.
Nearby: Pisa airport is 45 minutes from Peralta. The autoroute is just twenty minutes away so access to Florence, Lucca, Carrara, Cinque Terre, Forte dei Marmi etc is easy. The artist's town of Pietrasanta is twenty minutes away with its many restaurants, art galleries, fashion shops and an attractive square with lots of cafés for aperitives and to just sit and enjoy the world passing by. Camaiore, just ten minutes down the hill in the valley, is a charming little market town with everything practical you could possibly need and including an excellent delicatessen with wonderful Tuscan produce, hams, cheeses etc. A great wine store, restaurants, cafés, banks, post office, a market every Friday and so on.

About the host

I inherited The Studio house from my friend, Fiore, who was a sculptor. She used The Studio as a working Studio but it was also her home for over 35 years. I love the place with its very unique atmosphere and unusual décoration.
Why they chose this property
The Studio is part of the Hamlet of Peralta (peraltatuscany.com), a cluster of houses with médiéval origins discovered in ruins over 40 years ago by the late sculptor Fiore de Henriquez. She gradually restored all the houses and created the unique, inspiring place that today welcomes individual guests, workshops, etc. The Studio was the first house she restored and became Fiore's home and her studio. It is now privately owned but its guests can use all the amenities offered by Peralta which include a bar and dining/terrace, also offering the possibility of 'takeaway' dishes to be enjoyed in The Studio itself - a great bonus after a busy day away. Peralta and The Studio are just ten minutes by car from the market town of Camaiore in the valley where there are several supermarkets, a wonderful delicatessen, good butchers, fishmonger etc.
What makes this property unique
It is wonderful to spend time surrounded by artworks in a very unique house, which is also part of a beautiful little cluster of houses on the Tuscan hillside, surrounded by olive groves and chestnut woods. There are lovely walks to enjoy in the cooler months.
