About this property

Attention Curse of Oak Island fans!

Oak Island House is a newly restored and renovated century house which overlooks the famous Oak Island and the marina of the Oak Island Inn. Located on two acres of manicured grounds just next door to the resort, you can take advantage of all there is to offer; such as a wonderful restaurant, lounge, spa and marina. It is the perfect place for a family holiday or romantic getaway. There are three bedrooms so there is plenty of room for up to four people (five may be considered).

The main floor with the kitchen, dining area and den boasts large windows overlooking the lawn and water. Enjoy the large deck off the kitchen to take full advantage of the view. The lawn leads to the waterfront which is shared with the other residents of the lane as well as the marina of the Oak Island Inn. The bright den has a comfy couch and a large flat screen smart TV. There is a full bathroom on this level with a lovely large tiled shower.

The beautiful new kitchen has all the tools you'll need to cook up a storm (better inside than out!). Fully equipped with an island, stove, oven, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and even some necessary utensils should you decide to cook up a lobster feast.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms and another full bathroom with a clawfoot tub and a walk-in shower, and laundry machines. The master bedroom, with air-conditioning has a king sized bed, 32” flat screen TV and large windows to enjoy the view. Best of all, this bedroom has a balcony where you can sit out and take in the ocean views. The second bedroom is bright and airy and has a queen sized bed and the third bedroom has a single bed.

Great Place

This was a wonderful stay with great neighbors. Not too far from Halifax or the airport, but far enough away to experience what Canada is really like. The house is wonderful, very clean, and well stocked with the essentials. If we visit the Nova Scotia area again we will definitely try to get this place again.

Clean and comfortable!

Great property that suited our needs perfectly! Enjoyed the views from the back deck looking out at the water. And if you’re a fan of Oak Island, this is a great place. You can see the island and if you take a boat tour, you can walk to the boarding area from this property. Shirley, the property manager, lives nearby and was so nice.

Great stay in a beautiful cottage

We had a wonderful stay in this cottage. It was bright, airy and clean. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the claw foot tub was a great way to relax. The decks looking over the marina we’re perfect for reading a book or enjoying a glass of wine. Would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a place to relax and unwind on the western shore!

Little Gem in the Western Shore area

We really loved the house, the view, the vintage decoration, the beautiful area. It is located in a quiet area, and you can have breakfast in view on the bay, whether it is from the dining room or the deck. The communication with Jeanne was easy and although our stay was short, we appreciated walking from the house to downtown along the water.

Nova Scotia Adventure

We found this great property on VRBO. You never know what to expect, but sometimes you get so much more than what you expect. Location, cleanliness, comfortable beds and surroundings. Thanks

Oak Island House

Great stay. Stairs too steep and railing too low for safety. Communication with Jeanne slow at first but as time of our arrival got closer communication great. Loved the Harbour view.

A few issue which were easily resolved in a timely manner.

The view is spectacular, the house is beautiful and functional, quiet during days and evenings, the area is easily accessible for daily outings. Highly recommended.

Perfect for Oak Islands enthusiasts!

Beautiful house with an amazing view of Oak Island. Quiet, dead end street and a great front porch for relaxing. Host Shirley was lovely. All in, a great place to stay! Only callouts for future renters: no closets in bedrooms, cookware is limited, and construction currently happening next door.

Lovely stay at Oak Island House

The check in process was seamless and the property was VERY clean. Property was exactly as described. The view from the porch and upstairs balcony was beautiful and the area peaceful and quiet. Neighbors were quite friendly. Shirley was always available with helpful information (and provided some delicious home baked goodies!). We definitely recommend this if you are looking for relaxation, peace & quiet.

Curse of Oak Island fans must stay

You can see Oak Island right from the house. Just a short walk down to the Salty Dog Oak Island tour. The house was very clean and well kept. Bedding, linens and kitchen were all very clean… the cleanest I’ve ever seen. Shirley was available if you had any questions on how to use anything in the house. Can’t wait to come back again next year!

This home and its host Shirley are truly a treasure! Our annual girls getaway brought us to Oak Island House - we are so happy we stayed here! Amazing morning coffee views from the front deck and spectacular evening cocktail views from the roof-top deck. Easy access to restaurant and day trips to Mahone Bay ,Chester and Hubbards! Loved the Salty Dog Oak Island tour! Highly recommend this home! Lori PEI

Nice spot, inaccurate listing

We enjoyed our stay immensely, so take the following as room for improvement - not a major complaint. I'm quite sure we booked this on the basis of it being a 3 bedroom with 3 beds that sleeps 5, which it is. However, the current ad says it's a 2 bedroom with 2 beds. Strange. (There is some contradictory text under "About this rental" where it is sometimes a 2 bedroom, sometimes a 3.) Because the ad changed to say 2 bedrooms before we arrived, we were a bit concerned we would be short a bedroom. Fortunately, that wasn't the case. The kitchen is advertised as having all the tools to cook up a storm. And there are a lot of tools and the usual appliances. The appliances were fine, but the tools, cutlery, etc., were on the cheap side. For instance, the oven mitts were unusable because to do so risked burning your hands. The property manager took a while to respond to our first correspondence, but was on top of it the second time. The view from the property is lovely, and it is well located midway between Chester and Mahone Bay. I would recommend it, but hope the owners put up a more accurate description and up their game in the kitchen department somewhat. (But if you're not doing a lot of cooking, you should find what's there works for you.)
