The view was outstanding. And the location was great. We enjoyed the pools and hot tub at the rec center and the nice little walk in the woods to get there (and that is was only 3min away if you didn't want to walk). So much to do around the area and the host was very responsive. However it is a little more rustic than the photos make it seem and a little musty. The bed I had wasn't all that comfy but I moved to one of the bunk beds and slept well there. FYI: It's $100 to have the trash removed or else you have to take it home yourself (wasn't an option for us).
Overall, there was so much room for us all to spread out and plenty of room to cook and eat together (we had 8 of us there for 3 nights and three more who joined for one night and never felt crowded) Great option for a larger group who isn't looking for luxury.
Our group really enjoyed the large house and balcony. It was comfortable cooking in the kitchen, especially with the island for surface space. The living room library and movie selections and nearby community center was a plus as well. Josh was an excellent host.
The mountainside mansion gets the job done for a large group. We were there to ski Waterville and it’s a nice little drive of 15-20 minutes. There’s a pop-a-shot and ping pong table. It’s not fancy, but there was more than enough space for our group of 12. There are only 4 bedrooms but definitely other places people can crash. We had a blast. Would definitely recommend.
This mountainside home was largely as advertized, and we had a wonderful time. The common spaces were great for our group (five men friends). The two well-appointed, full baths, worked fine for the 5 of us. Curiously, access from one of the downstairs bedrooms (three bunks and a queen) is essentially through the master bedroom (which does not have an ensuite bath), but I guess if it’s your kids coming through, that’s ok. In general, the bed layout seems to work well for two couples and lot of kids/friends, as there are only the two queen beds.
We were here for a short ski weekend, so we didn’t avail ourselves of any of the outside use spaces, though they seemed more than ample. We did enjoy the glassed in porch off the common spaces, as well as the wonderful views it afforded to the southwest. We cooked all our meals in the unit, and that worked well for us. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped, but it you want to fry/sauté anything, bring your own frying pan/skillet; we couldn’t find one. There were two small/medium saucepans and one larger pasta-sized pot. Bear in mind that, while it advertises accommodating 16 or more, the dining room table seats six, and the kitchen island/work surface has 6 stools around.
All in all we had a great time. Check-in and check-out was quite easy. Just make sure to click “Show More” in the “House Rules” section, so you don’t get surprised by the $50 fee for not taking your trash away with you.
The Mountainside Mansion was a great escape for our group of 12! There was ample space, and plenty of sleeping options. Josh was very communicative during the whole process - from check-in until the morning we left. The enclosed porch is a beautiful and enjoyable space! Although some things in the home are dated, like the kitchen , Josh seems to slowly be making some updates to make this home top notch! We would definitely stay again!
