Heated Pool, Hot Tub, Central Location, Grnd Level 4 BR 3 bath. Sleeps 9, 5 beds

Centrally located community of Serra Mesa, sometimes called 'Birdland' because all the streets are named after birds. It is a residential neighborhood just north of Mission Valley, 1/2 mile from the entrance to Interstate 163 that connects to other major freeways, and about a ten minute drive to most attractions, downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, the zoo, Sea World, Qualcomm Stadium, Petco Park, Old Town, Seaport village, and San Diego International airport (SAN). It is 20 minutes to the Tijuana border and 30 minutes to Lego land, the Wild Animal Park, and several casinos. This is great central location.

House has 4 bedrooms. Bedroom next to the Master bedroom doubles as a office with a quality futon if needed for sleeping and has a door to the back yard. Master bedroom and fourth bedrooms both have private baths. Main bath has a claw foot tub that came from Hotel San Diego.

Rates are for 6 guests. There is a nightly fee of $20 per extra guest per night.

Pool is a nice sized pool with 9 ft deep end, A safety fence and self closing gate. Pool is solar heated and 9 months of year requires no gas heat. To heat pool to 80 degrees Nov - Mar with gas there is a $75 per day fee

Parking is in carport and always plenty of street parking. Even if you have a boat or trailer there is street around corner that has plenty of room and neighbor has security camera watching that street.

Just what we needed!

We had a great stay at the property. It was just as described and just what we needed. We had plenty of room for our family (ages from 79 to 3) and ALL the beds were comfortable! The neighborhood was great and the house was close to all the activities we had planned. Easy on/off access to the interstate was a plus for my parents that aren't used to driving in city traffic! I paid the extra fee to heat the pool since our stay was in March and cooler weather was expected. Looking back I should have saved the money since the kids preferred the hot tub temps much more! John was a great host and easy to get a hold of when needed.

Perfect location

We were trying to escape the dreary gray cold of Vermont and this house was perfect for our needs. This house is located perfectly to visit the zoo, Petco Park, Balboa Park, Little Italy, Ocean Beach and a whale watching tour. The house itself is well equipped and decorated smartly. The three bathrooms met our needs and the pool and the hot tub were great for the end of the day.

The property was centrally located. Easy off and on highways north and south. The bedrooms were nice and the beds were comfortable. Hot tub and pool were nice. Pool was a little cool but we survived. Nice to have laundry facilities but the room needs to be cleaned. The host was an excellent communicator and very responsive

Swim laps, soak in the sun, and relax!!!

Need a break? Your prayers have been answered at this cozy property. Swim, barbecue, unwind in the hot tub, and repeat. Communication with the property’s owner is swift and easy. The house is clean and well- appointed. Restaurants, coffee shops, and supermarkets are close and plentiful. I’m a professional traveler and I approve this message.

Grandma’s house

If you like the 70’s look, it’s ok. Needs lots of little spiffing up in many places, mostly the bathrooms. Biggest complaint is the sliding glass door to the pool, which needs to be replaced. Beds are comfy, linens are adequate. Pillows are hard and flat or large and hard. Perhaps a variety of pillows on each bed would help. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.

Great location but some undisclosed issues

Great location that is central to everything. There are ants that the property managers are aware of as there is ant spray yet no mention of the ants in listing or check-in email. Also, we had to put bins to curb. I’ve been asked to take garbage to bins but never to put bins out. Also very dusty and pool area was unkept. Overall, a nice place to stay but a few quick fixes would make it better.

The owner is very communicative and quick to respond. The house was full of ants. In the beds, on the couch, on the floors, in the bathrooms, everywhere. We took extra precautions to not have any food or drinks outside of the refrigerator and they were everywhere!

Summer Getaway

Our family enjoyed staying at this property. It is centrally located to the beaches, shopping, and main attractions. It took approximately 15 minutes to get to our destinations. The pool is amazing and the back yard offers a private setting. If you’re looking for a place that is affordable, safe, and offers certain amenities such as a pool, then consider staying her at the Birdland home.

Wonderful pool area/Quiet neighborhood

We stayed at this house for a week. There were 8 adults and it fit all of us comfortably. It is centrally located and about 15 minutes from the Zoo and Sea World as well as the beach. The home is older but was clean and had everything we needed to cook as well as plenty of towels. The pool area was nice and we spent lots of time there daily. We did deal with some sugar ants in the kitchen and a couple of the bathrooms most of the week off and on. The host was wonderful and came over twice because the pool cleaner was not working and he wanted to replace it. The neighborhood was quiet. We would stay here again.

A long weekend of celebration

I pick this house because of the beautiful pool and the four bedrooms. The ages of our party were 14 to 69. When we got to the property we discovered that you have to enter through a carport The address was hidden behind a bush at the door of an additional rental property in front of the house. We drove by three times before we actually figured it out.

Perfect Spot For Our Stay

This house is about 8 minutes away from my Daughter's apartment. 2 ways to get there: via surface streets or Freeway. Rooms were good sized with private baths for each of two and one shared for the other two which worked out well for our family. General location is excellent for access to most everything in SD.

Loved the property, it was close to everything we wanted to do. Everything was clean, instructions were clear. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and we weren’t able to take advantage of the pool and hot tub. Great place and location.

Family Visit

We enjoyed our stay. The description was accurate, was nice to have supplies stocked for ease and gave it a comfortable feel. Beds were very comfortable and linens were fresh and clean. Pool was used a few times despite chilly weather and was great. Hot tub nice and hot with strong jets. The neighborhood was quiet, easy parking, location was centrally located making all our plans during our trip easy to execute. A few minor critiques would be that when we walked in it was a bit musty smelling but cleared after opening windows and such to air it out. The patio door was very noisy when opened or closed which was a bit annoying but minor. We would recommend this VRBO property and also would stay there again in the future.

Pleasant stay close to a lot

We had two small families stay together in this home. It was very pleasant and enjoyable. The pool was nice and the owner was informative telling us home to take the cover off and how he wanted things. For me I found this helpful as we had clear expectations and he was kind. There was a lot of floats and toys for the kids to play with in the water. There was plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms for us to use. Overall a nice stay.

This was our home before we moved 30 miles North of San Diego. We have refurbished house with tile throughout and added patio door to office/bedroom. Each room has cable and a TV and Wi-Fi is available throughout the house,.

What makes this property unique

Solar heated pool during swimming season and covered patio. The location is a prime advantage since your are about 10 minutes from most San Diego attractions but still in a quiet residential neighborhood. There is only one street in and out of area so there is no through traffic.
