There is room for 10 people in this home overlooking the Atlantic. Watch the seals frolic while relaxing on the large front porch. Open concept first floor that blends to the home's open spaces of a enclosed porch and the front porch. Cottage decorations and a large 3rd floor family room/sleeping area contribute to its charm. The ocean is directly across the street and less than a 5 minute walk is the public access to Crescent Beach. A 10 minute walk will bring you to Wells Beach and the arcades, restaurants and shops. Less than a mile walk in the opposite direction will bring you to the first public way to Moody Beach. A portion of the Rachel Carson Refuge is behind the house which hosts amazing sunsets and wildlife from egrets to deer. This house is waiting for you and your guests to enjoy! The house is really nice, the stories so those of us that slept on the 3rd floor got our workout in. Lol. The owner stays in the house right behind this house so she's close by if you need anything but she didn't bother us. The only two things that were not great was there was very small parking areas and no access to the beach directly in front of the house. You have to walk a ways to get to the access and my 90 year old Aunt did it but only once. The pictures make you think you can cross the street and go right into the beach but there is a sea wall and big boulders in the other side of the sea wall so your can't get down to the beach. When high tide hits there is no beach ..... Cottage linens was great to for renting sheets. I didn't rent towels but they included them. Thanks Diane for letting us rent your place. The views are spectacular!
Tout était parfait à l’exception du fait que nous devions prendre l’auto pour se rendre à la plage.
Merci à Diane pour son hospitalité et sa gentillesse.
You can not beat the location. The sun set behind the house & rose in front. Views are beautiful from every room. The house is beautifully decorated & furnished. Kitchen is well stocked with plenty of storage. The only negative is the size of the beds in the 2 front rooms (with the best views) Theyre full or doubles and a bit too small for 2 adults. Overall loved the place. Would rent again.
Impossible to put into words but will try. To begin the owner is as wonderful as the house. She was very easy to communicate with and has taken all steps imaginable to ensure that guests have everything they need. The ocean views from the porch and house it self were spectacular and there is easy access to every place you would want to go by passing the traffic of Rte 1. There are several beaches nearby, one within short walking distance that has the added bonus of being able to go "Tide Pooling" at Low Tide . There is a great Lobster Pound steps away that has amazing food as well. If you want the quintessential Maine experience - this beautiful beach house is at the center of it. I would highly recommend this house, my family has been coming for generations to the area and I have to say this has been one of my most favorite beach houses we have stayed in and will return again and again !
LOVED IT !
Loved everything about this house and Wells! The house was extremely clean, organized, well stocked and large enough for our extended family group to spread out. Sitting on the porch seal watching was wonderful and the sunsets over the marsh were absolutely gorgeous! Diane was great! We will be back!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming, clean, well organized home. The views from the front and back of house were lovely in many parts of the house including the large porch, comfortable livingroom and all of the upstairs charming bedrooms.
We loved this property for it's location and beautiful views. The house itself is clean and up to date. One of the most fully stocked houses we've stayed in. The bunk room was perfect for our 7 and 4 year old, allowing my husband and I to enjoy to people and seal watching from the front porch. The beach entrance is a short walk. Dianne is friendly and easy to work with. Hoping to book this same location next year.
The house was absolutely beautiful. We couldn't have asked for more. Diane provided everything we could have wanted. The location was perfect, and being able to sit on the porch, sip coffee and watch the seals every morning was the icing on the cake. We couldn't have asked for more! Thank you Diane!
Our vacation was wonderful! The beach house is so beautiful with amazing views from every window. The house had everything we needed and more. We loved going to sleep to the sound of the ocean and waking to birds singing in the Rachel Carson Bird Sanctuary. We could also watch the sunrise over the ocean right from
the front porch. We brought kayaks and explored the beautiful Ogunquit River just a few miles away. We can’t wait to return next summer!
The house was amazing!! It was such an easy process and we had no complaints. There is amazing views from all around the house. The best part was being able to watch all the seals right from the porch. The beach was around a 4-5 minute walk. The 3rd floor was a big bonus; my 11 and 8 year old girls loved it up there and there was so many games to enjoy. The short distance to the beach and lunch (the lobster pot) was perfect for my parents, that accompanied us on this trip. We will definitely return!
Everything was perfect, from sunrises over the ocean to sunsets over the marsh. Seal watching and sea glass finding. I do not know how Diane did it but we even got a sunrise rainbow the morning of our wedding. Everything was PERFECT!
This place was absolutely perfect! Beautiful views of the ocean. The beach (crescent beach) is a short walk from the house, or you could drive a short bit to Ogunquit (we did that one day) . The owner was extremely responsive and friendly and even came by to meet us one morning. The house was very clean, spacious and comfortable with every amenity we could have needed. Sitting on the porch in the morning drinking coffee and in the evening having a cocktail was fabulous. Highly recommend!
This house was absolutely gorgeous. The view waking up in the morning from the front bedroom was out of this world. Nothing but ocean. Short 1:47 minute walk (yes, I timed it) to Crescent Beach. Diane was great to work with. The second night we discovered that the grill was broken, she immediately had it removed and a new one brought to us. Great games provided on the third floor allowed for a fun rainy day too. My daughter loved the arcade which was about a 12 minute walk away. There was parking for 2 cars really on the site, but plenty of free on street parking right across the road.

About the host
Hosted by Diane Carrier
My husband and I have been spending summer vacations in Wells for almost 30 years. We have created wonderful family memories here and have always dreamed of owning a vacation home in the area. This dream came true in 2010 when my husband spotted this house and decided this was going to become our beach house.
Why they chose this property
I had my reservations about this house! This house was built in the late 1800's by a sea captain. The people we purchased the home from had owned it since the mid 50's and made very little improvements over the years. Let's just say it was a true 'fixer upper' and if my husband wasn't a General Contractor I would have never agreed to the purchase of this house.
It took over a year to obtain approval from the Environmental Protection Agency to start renovations. This meant the house needed to remain true to the original footprint. It was very challenging to add modern day amenities within the existing layout. Meanwhile the house needed to be raised and moved so the existing basement could be filled in and a slab poured for the renovated house to sit. Overall, it was a daunting and amazing process! The renovations were finally completed in the spring of 2012 and we couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. This very old and neglected house had come to life again!
What makes this property unique
The views from this house are spectacular! You can sit on the porch and watch sail boats pass and seals at play. From the side porch you can watch the various birds and wildlife in the marshland and the researchers tracking them. There is something to see from every room in the house!
Crescent Beach is a just a brief walk from the house. Moody Beach is approximately a 15 minute walk. On occasion, we've taken the trolley into Ogunquit to have dinner and then walked from Ogunguit Beach to Moody Beach back to the house.
