About this property

Mountain Experience/Amazing Views/Hot Tub/Ski/Close to Boulder

You really have to see these amazing views! Breathtaking sunrises spring over the Majestic Flatiron Mountains every morning, as seen from this 4000 sf, gorgeous, modern house peering at mountains AND VALLEYS from 8,400 ft high. Located up super-scenic Coal Creek Canyon, it is IDEALLY SITUATED WITHIN 30 MINUTES of the Front Range's best towns (Boulder, Golden, Nederland) as well as All Mountain Activities (Skiing, Hiking, Fishing, Rafting, Horses, Climbing). And only 45 min away is Downtown Denver, providing easy access to world-class activities and sports.

The interior of this large home is BRAND NEW from top to bottom, every appliance and piece of furniture. Although it was tragic when the pipes burst in 2018, we now have an even MORE AMAZING mountain house that complements the great location and amazing views. This is a home, but with the feel of a luxury hotel. Airy while Cozy, Bright while Romantic. We put a lot of thought into providing for your needs: fine linens, fluffy towels, full kitchen utensils, etc. Other great amenities include a NEW 14-Jet OUTDOOR HOT TUB, indoor Jacuzzi, 2-car garage, woodstove, vaulted ceilings, wood floors, Berber carpets, and two fully-stocked modern kitchens with gas ranges and dishwashers. BUT the Master Bathroom can compete with finest hotels with cool tiling and Jacuzzi, but showering in front of the double-headed shower's floor to ceiling window looking at mountains is a once in a lifetime experience.

Our Favorite Things To Do AT the House: 1) Have cocktails at dusk on the Pub Table perched on the wrap-around deck 2) Saunter to the outdoor Hot Tub for a warm soak while the stars come out. 3) As the night deepens, enjoy a glass of wine indoors with Jacuzzi jets soothing your body OR use the double-headed shower while looking through the floor-to ceiling picture window overlooking mountain bliss. 4) Watch a Surround-Sound movie (many available) in the Entertainment Room by the fireplace. 5) Catch a DirecTV game in the Fireside Living Room with a log in the woodstove. 6) Hide with your book on the Chaise Lounge in the Study. 6) Chill in the Sitting Room peering out of a wall-size window to spot wildlife (deer, elk, fox, hare, lynx) crossing the 2-acre lot. 7) Check email on WI-FI from anywhere in the house. 7) QUICKLY grab provisions at the convenience and liquor stores or stop in at the new Sports Bar JUST 8 MINUTES AWAY (Very rare and much appreciated in the mountains). 8) Whip up large dinners using TWO kitchens. 9) Hang out at the picnic table on the Big Deck, listening to mountain stillness and breathing fresh air, and 10) Fall asleep in the MBR on a King-size Aspen Log Bed peering down onto Boulder’s twinkling nightlights.

This home is full of big sunlit windows and mountain-facing rooms providing that wide-open feeling (such as in the Great Room, Sitting Room, Big Deck, and 3 BRs) that closely connects you to mother nature and the mountain's grandeur. Yet the cleverly built house also provides several hidden nooks that offer lovely solitude.

AND the Property's unique layout actually makes it LIKE TWO PLACES IN ONE, perfect for large or multiple families, or for use by retreat and reunion groups. Although one unit, the great layout is extremely flexible, offering 2 separate living spaces with its 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, 2 laundry rooms, & 2 entrances.

The upper two floors (sleeps 8) have 3BRs, 2BAs, K, LR, DR (Great Room), Den & Entrance. The lower level (sleeps 6) has a second MBR and a bunk room, full BA, LR, K, Sitting Room for nature watching & Entrance. An internal stairway connects them, making it ideal for being together when you want while having your own space.

Beyond the house's allure and nearby outdoor sporting options, local towns provide additional fun and activities. INEXPENSIVE SKIING is only 30 mins away at Eldora Resort. For beauty, charm, and culture, nearby Boulder (30 mins) is a lovely University town that takes only one visit to fall in love with. The food options and neat shops on Pearl Street Mall are endless. Nederland (25 mins) is an authentic mountain town with cute shops, interesting bars and real mountain people, a must-see for the "Mountain Experience." Golden (30 mins) provides tours of the world's largest Brewery (Coors) and a historic Western downtown with family restaurants, while Denver's sports and museums are world-class (45 min). Popular Western-style Gambling towns are 45 mins away, while Famous Red Rocks Amphitheater and the Heritage Square Amusement Park are within 30 minutes out. Challenging Indian Peaks Wilderness Area is 40 mins, WORLD-CLASS SUMMIT COUNTY SKIING is 45-60 mins, and Rocky Mountain Natl Park is 90 mins along the famous Peak-to-Peak Scenic Byway. Other nearby activities include some of the Front Range’s BEST HIKING, Buffalo Bill Cody’s grave/museum, Wineries, and lots more.

We've developed a comprehensive Visitors Guide to help point you the right way, including food, drink, activities and our local favorites.

Family reunion mountain stay

This house was the perfect mountain getaway for our family trip to our family reunion in Boulder! It was an easy 30 minute drive to Golden, Boulder, Denver and just about an hour to white water rafting! The house provided plenty of space for our family to unwind and relax in between family activities! Beryle provided some great recommendations we took advantage of and allowed us to check in early after our flights got changed on us!

In-depth instructions

The place and stay was nice. So many instructions family was timid about doing some things. Didn’t even use hot tub, family was afraid of making a mistake and hurt something. We all understood the rules and instructions are the owners business. So we thank you for the mountain experience!

Perfect Mountain Getaway

Our extended family of 12 thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Plenty of room for everyone, including 6 kids. Close enough to Boulder, Golden, and Arvada, but far away enough to get a true cabin in the mountains experience. The home was very clean upon arrival, and very well stocked with all the amenities you could need. Communication with the owner was very easy. Would highly recommend!

Great Location and Views

Enjoyed our stay and is a perfect home for a large family and/or reunion. We all enjoyed the mountain views and the accessibility and features of the home. The only downside is going in July, it is very warm during the day and with no air conditioning its not the best to stay during the day there. Later in the evening it cools down which helps, but it can still stay in the upper 70's inside the home.

This property has a beautifully designed for more than one family if need be. The property is beautiful and well maintained. Our stay was just to short to injoy all the wonderful amenities it has to offer. We hope to book a return stay soon. The best experience was working with Beryle Randall, he was very honest and genuine with all my concerns. the location and views are just beautiful. I will recommend this property to everyone I know.

Take photos!

The home is a fine mountain home. There is plenty of room and it is adequately furnished. There were some bugs and ants but I just figured that was part of the mountain surroundings. My experience with the owner and VRBO however left a lot to be desired. Before our arrival, the owner requested guest info be sent to his personal email rather than through the VRBO app. I asked the owner if there were any high chairs or pack n plays in the home for us to use and he answered that “we did have a pack n play until a guest destroyed it late last year…” I assured him that we have a wonderful track record of caring for rental homes and that we would take care of his property. He sent 16 pages of rules for his home and we truly did our best to follow all requests. Nine days after we checked out, the owner sent a message that we were being charged an extra $100 for “excessive messiness.” As we had swept, wiped surfaces, emptied trash and fridge, we were baffled. I reached out to the owner and told him all that we did to care for the place and he sent me “proof of our messiness” which was a rant by his cleaning person who frankly sounded like she was demanding a raise by exaggerating anything she found in the house. I wish I had taken a video of the place when we arrived and when we left.

Idyllic Weekend with rules

Gorgeous house that is clearly very beloved by its owners. The rental agreement was intense to say the least so i am assuming they have had some bad run ins with renters. That being said the rules posted everywhere and the 6 page rental agreement we had to sign in addition to VRBO’s including pages of fees should certain infractions occur were over the top. I have never felt more on edge and the hot tub i was dying to try out had so many rules and fees that we opted to not get in at all. Feeling guilty for turning in the heat when it was 50 degrees inside due to the labels on all thermostats of how expensive propane is to heat the house was also off putting. Very beautiful house that clearly needs to be for older travelers who can follow very strict guidelines .

Exceeds Expectations

I couldn't give this home anything less that five stars for all aspects of our stay, the only discrepancy might be in the accuracy of the listing because Beryle's home exceeds expectations and the listing doesn't do the property justice. Beryle communicates very well and makes himself available to his guests if needed. He is easy to work with and communicative. We had an issue with the hot tub that was ultimately our fault but Beryle was very kind and understanding and easy to work with throughout the entire experience. Despite the hot tub goof, Beryle allowed us to return to home after checkout to transport our recycling back to Denver. I would certainly be back in a heart beat! The property is incredibly clean and there are excellent instructions on how to operate quite literally anything on the property that is available for guest use. At the end of the day, it's clear how much the home is loved by the hosts and it's clear they want guests to enjoy the home with the same love and respect that they have for it. If that person is you - then this is absolutely the place for you! You will not regret your stay in this incredible mountain home!

What views!

We arrived in a snow storm and found this beautiful home clean and ready to keep us warm and safe for the next few days. The owner gave us a call on the house phone to be sure we arrived safely and was easy to reach by phone and email throughout our stay. Even though our group of 10 were literally snowed in for 4 days (we had one vehicle parked up on the road for an emergency exit but never needed it) we had plenty of room to spread out, have privacy and not get on each other's nerves! We also had lots of room to gather everyone for card and board games in both living spaces. The kids were able to sled right out their big sliding door from the lower level porch! The kitchens were set up well and we were able to cook for ourselves the entire time. I think my favorite part though was the woodstove in the living room. There was plenty of already cut wood for us in the garage to keep a cracking fire going for 4 days and keep the entire house, which is really spacious, warm and cozy even with the temperatures outside well below freezing. Finally, there were plenty of shovels for us all to team up and clear the driveway over the 4 days we were there which turned out to be some of the best family bonding time ever!

Sad

We booked our stay months in advance trying to have a much anticipated family vacation. My husband farms and it is very hard to be away from the livestock. A week and a day before we were to stay, my niece was tragically killed in an ATV accident. We contacted VRBO and they were very kind. They thought in the circumstances we would at least get a partial refund. On contacting the owner they said sorry and declined any refund. It was a lot of money for us and they didn't offer any money at all. VRBO tried again but they only offered a small portion of the cleaning fee. They wouldn't cancel it or let us cancel it either which would've been a great option for them. My friend is from there and said it would've been listed in a heartbeat. The Nuggets were playing that weekend and people would've been wanting a place! We are very disappointed to say the least.

look elsewhere, if possible

My husband and I rented this for ourselves and our out-of-town guests for our wedding in Colorado. We were limited in our options as we started planning a little late, otherwise we might have chosen a different house. The view from this house is spectacular, especially from the master bedroom--wonderful to wake up and see the sunrise while lying in bed. The 2 decks are great, all the windows, great view from the kitchen. Beware of the very steep driveway. I was on the edge of my seat every time we drove back to the house. Also, beware of your deposit. The house is not in pristine condition, and it is not spotless, so I recommend before/after pictures to protect yourself. I wish we would have done this but didn't think we would need them. Sadly, after our stay, we received a rather hurtful email telling us how the cleaning crew gave a dramatic, outrageous story about how we left a huge mess, including corn husks all over the house, on top of the cabinets, all around the yard. Such a bizarre accusation--I don't know what kind of lunatics they thought we were, strewing corn husks everywhere, but we didn't even bring corn to the property. They said they couldn't get the smell of grease out of the house--but we barely did any cooking during our stay--quinoa casserole, guacamole, vegan bean quesadillas, peanut butter & jelly, pasta...nothing that would leave a grease smell. They also accused us of bringing extra unreported guests because we dared to use all of the towels--presumably there to be used. And--the most expensive accusation--they claimed that we left the hot tub all slimy and dirty. When we arrived, there was already sand on the floor of the hot tub and some kind of whitish-grey film in the water the first time we turned it on (oily dead skin residue from not being cleaned before we got there?) We followed all instructions, added chemicals as directed, etc., but the cleaning crew still blamed us for the mess. We all worked hard to leave the house in good condition. My overall feeling was that the cleaning people knew they would be paid extra time if they said they spent more time cleaning, but I know the condition the house was in when we arrived, as well as the condition it was in when we left. If the house simply cost more to rent, we would've paid it and it wouldn't have soured our feelings about our experience, and it wouldn't have been as upsetting as being accused of trashing someone's house.

Awesome mountain views

Amazing property for our family vacation! Nice location, not too far away from attractions. We went to Rocky Mountain NP two days.....about 1 1/2 hour drive from house to the Estes entrance. Honestly, you don't even realize it takes that long, the views along the way are incredible! Had lots of fun in Golden and Denver too. Hosts are great at communicating and have great ideas for tourists! Would definitely stay again.

About the host

Your host

Host profile image
We are committed to your enjoyment and a great experience. With 8 years of almost all 5 star reviews, we take pride in sharing the property that we love so much.

Why they chose this property

For large groups, There is nothing like it!

• You are getting a “High-Mountain” experience – at eye-level with mountain peaks, surrounded by treetops of pines and aspens, close to critters, seclusion, fresh air, starlit skies, and the sound of silence. But you are also as close as you can get (within 30 minutes) to major towns like Boulder, Golden, and Denver while still having these High-Mountain connections.

What makes this property unique

Really Cool Things About the House:
• Each room has two, really nice fluffy towels per person (based on sleep space), nicely rolled and on display. We also supply premium toiletries like Dove Body Wash, Aussie Shampoo and hairdryers in each bathroom (Ever seen that in a Vacation Rental before?).
• Each time you go up a floor, for some strange reason, the fantastic mountain views get several times larger.
• There is a big space or small nook for any need, such as:
o Being part of nature by viewing treetops, windows full of sunlight, and majestic mountains in the Great Room;
o Reading on the chaise lounge in the Red Room Study;
o Getting mesmerized by city lights as they twinkle through the windows of the huge Aspen Bedroom from the King-size Log Bed or Jacuzzi Tub;
o Preparing a Kings Feast in two kitchens and on the BBQ Grill;
o Enjoying a two-headed shower while overlooking the huge valley below through a head to foot window..
o Catching animals run by while peering through the wall-size window in the Nature Study
o Gathering with the clan around for a good game on DirectTV or a DVD in the Fireplace Living Room;
o Laying out at 8,400 feet in 70+ degrees power sun on the Big Deck picnic table; and, of course,
o Soothing muscles and souls in the new hot tub on the Wrap-Around Deck.
• The tap water is delicious and should be bottled.
• Deer, fox, chipmunks, and hares cross the property daily. Hummingbirds often visit the deck, but you have sit quietly or scare them off. Lynx are our favorite sighting. We hope you don’t see a bear or a few (mother and cubs), but it is possible.
• Its only 8 minutes to Crescent, a tiny town that offers a Convenience Store, Gas Station, Liquor Store, and Coffeehouse. Most other “High-Mountain” properties require a long drive for supplies. And there is a great Sports Bar 5 mins away on the way to Crescent.
• The decks were designed to flow organically and connect for easy passage between floors without having to go inside.
