House is a lovely historic home in a great location a short drive from Rhinebeck and Red Hook. Lots of room for my group of friends to hang out, eat together & reconnect. The setting was particularly gorgeous in the fall.

This property has EVERYTHING!

We have stayed at this property twice now and I can't recommend it highly enough if you're looking for someplace special to stay in the Hudson Valley. Beautiful inside and out. Great floor plan, the kitchen and adjoining screened-in porch were everyone's favorite spot to hang out. The host for this property goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and was so accommodating! No hesitation to give 5 stars across the board.

Comfortable & Spacious House; Idyllic Grounds

Absolutely zero complaints about spending a long weekend at this property. Esther was a great host--very gracious and quick to provide information. The house has an invitingly rustic feel, yet balanced with modern amenities like a powerful industrial oven and a good stereo. The lake is totally swimmable; deep enough to dive into, and not full of slimy vegetation. The house was clean; towels (for showering and swimming too) were provided--as were soap and shampoo--the decor is charming and sometimes hysterical. There's no central air, but the nighttime was refreshing, so it was no loss. Thank you, Esther!

Wonderful private swimming pond!

The private pond is what makes this property truly special! Refreshing and relaxing to swim in on hot summer days. The house is beautiful and lovingly cared for. Plenty of room for a large group. The grounds are also very well maintained and there are lots of outdoor seating options. The only thing I didn't love about the house was the number of personal items that the owner left out. The refrigerator was over half full of their food. The cabinets were also full of opened food. No empty drawers or cupboards. The bathroom medicine cabinets were full of things like toothbrushes, hairbrushes, razors, etc. Once again, there was nowhere for our things. The closets had clothes and there were no empty drawers. Very odd and definitely not what I was expecting in such high-quality rental. If the owners remedy this problem, it will be a 5-star property.

Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool Festival!

Loved the location of the home and the cozy fires we enjoyed after a day of walking around the Dutchess Cty fairgrounds. The town if Rhinebeck is adorable and Terrapin - the restaurant - was excellent. The Culinary Institue of America was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Our hostess was very accessible by text with the few questions we had. The outdoor property is gorgeous...we hit it at the peak foliage season! The house is quirky, but very comfortable with lots of space. We were 6 women. The Vulcan stove & SubZero refrigerator were great!

The Pond House in Milan, NY

Great property for swimming, fishing, lounging, cooking and relaxing while close to Red Hook, Rhinebeck and other fun towns. Plenty of room for 4+ adults with own bedrooms and baths and lots of space to gather or hang-out separately. Esther was extremely responsive to questions about the history and structure of this unique property.

Idyllic Rural Retreat

Our extended family stayed here to celebrate my daughter's graduation from college. The setting is lovely. We spent most of our time on the screen porch looking out on the pond; also did a little fishing. The house is large; beds are comfortable; feels like home. Esther, the owner, was extremely nice. If you are looking for place to kick up your feet, hang out with family and friends, cook, eat, play scrabble, and enjoy the pleasures of a picturesque rural landscape with lots to do nearby, this is the place.

Great Family Vacation

This was the perfect house for a low key family getaway. It is INCREDIBLY kid and dog friendly! Lots of activities to do out in the huge lawn, a little climbing wall, treehouse, and beautiful vegetable garden. The pond was also perfect! The kids spent hours jumping off the diving board and we all enjoyed floating in the pond during our stay that was during a major heat wave. The property just can’t be beat. The house had plenty of space for 5 adults and two children. We arrived during a hurricane and we nice and cozy hunkering down for a day. Esther the host was wonderful. Amazing communication, very sweet, quick to respond to any questions we had, and very kind. A few things to note about the house itself: 1) No AC or AC units at all which made for a hot stay in the summer 2) No microwave 3) There weren’t enough towels when we arrived so we needed to do a load of laundry. 4) There was an outlet under the desk that somehow killed two laptops at different times during our stay. They wouldn’t turn back on and both needed to be replaced. Beware before plugging yours in! We didn’t have any other issue with the other outlets. 5) Some of the lights were broken so I was glad that I brought a few nightlights to plug in until we could get to a working lamp. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, I would definitely recommend, and we are strongly considering booking again for next summer!

Our 4 day getaway

Beautiful home, beautiful property with everything your cooking and reading heart desires. We were so very lucky to find four available days to rest our pandemic weary heads in Milan, NY. From the moment of driving up to and then stepping into the entry way, we knew we had found something special. A garden that had everything ranging from Sun Gold cherry tomatoes (one of my absolute favorites), lovage to purple poppies, we felt the love of fresh food and happy gardening all at once. If you have the time, go to each window, look out, take a photo and I will guarantee they will all be postcard perfect. - every view in any direction is gorgeous! The pond - perfection! The entire family went swimming, canoeing and hung out on the floating dock. A nice sandy bottom took away all of our fears of what lay beneath the surface. We found this body of water essential to our few days of relaxation especially for our teen daughters. Back to food - the kitchen is fantastic! A six burner, double oven with grill and griddle - cooking dinner was an absolute pleasure and it took half the time. And did I mention, we were able to harvest a big bunch of parsley for our dinner of mussels & shrimp over home made pasta. Besides this beautiful home, the location was perfect - close to everything but tucked far enough away as your very own enchanted retreat. We're already planning for next year but don't try to book they are already full. : /

Summer camp for families.

This property is magical for families who like to be active. It’s like the best part of a summer camp without any restrictions. Esther is a wonderful communicator and the house is in a great location to get to farm stands, great ice cream and charming small towns. We were sad to leave! The pond is the best!

A small slice of heaven.

My family and I absolutely loved our stay on this extraordinary property, which feels like a beautifully kept private park with its own lake for swimming and boating. The house itself is delightful, spacious and well stocked with necessities. Moreover, Esther was a wonderful host, easily reached and quick to take care of our needs. We hope to make a return visit to this fabulous property and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway, one that is surprisingly close to the charming towns of both Red Hook and Rhinebeck.

Great family stay

I stayed in Esther's home with a group of 5 adults, 1 infant, and a dog. It was a very comfortable space, with solid internet for those of us who had to work while we were there. The pond was excellent for cooling off on hot days, and the expansive yard was great for lawn games. We enjoyed the comprehensive kitchen and were able to cook from the garden, even this early in the season - the gardener even gave us a quick tutorial on what was ready for picking! Esther was very flexible and communicative throughout our stay. I would love to stay here again and would happily recommend to a friend.

Wonderful Retreat

We had a lovely stay at Esther's property, it is a private, quiet location with a yard and pond that was perfect for our group of adults and kids. The house in very good shape, with no major surprises, the listing does a good job to give a feel for the home. We especially enjoyed cooking in the large chef's kitchen and making fires in the wood burning fireplace. Esther was a great host, accommodative and quick to respond to any questions. We certainly plan to visit again!

Amazing Oasis Weekend!

My group and I absolutely LOVED Esther's property. The swimming pond is out of a fairytale so we spent most of our days out there floating on the dock and jumping off the diving board. The interiors of the house are amazing as well (with such history too!), being able to cook in such an awesome kitchen with anything and everything you might need was a dream! Esther was a phenomenal communicator - we we're in such great hands all weekend. Would absolutely book again!!

A Precious Few Days

Overall we had a good experience. The house was spacious and there were many places for our grandchildren to play and many games to play with. Our family members had fun rowing around the pond in the small row boat and swimming in the pond. We also had a great time at the Dutchess County Fair. In the future, we would appreciate the house being cleaner; stove top grill, rugs, and the hanging pots and pans. We concentrated on spending time with family so these issues were secondary but still important. Overall it was a good experience.

Lovely property! Beautiful charming family home.

A few things that could stand to be fixed. When we paid up full In February, we were not aware there was no air conditioning. In the end most of us were comfortable with the fans. Some of the fans do not work, so our daughter who was getting married did not sleep well in the upstairs twin bedroom with no ventilation & fan that didn’t work. Master could use some blinds on the windows. Otherwise good bathrooms & lovely kitchen. We loved the screened porch.
