This is not your typical yurt- it is a modern, open, gorgeous, spacious place that seems as well suited to Napa Valley as it is to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!
I planned a mother-daughter trip, along with my dog wanting to have a relaxing getaway where I could bring the pup, as well as, let my 85-year-old mother get around comfortably. This place could not have been more perfect!
Everything was easy for my mom with her walker to navigate and my dog had a huge fenced yard where he could play.
Owner, Julia, was incredibly responsive to my questions, and I felt very comfortable even before arrival. I was able to get in with her lock instructions, and while I knew she was available, I also appreciated the privacy we were accorded.
The yurt had every convenience I could have hoped for and even more! There is a wonderful fire pit with gorgeous hand-crafted Adirondack chairs surrounding it, and the skylight in the yurt allowed us to see the night stars from the comfort of the living room if we chose. The queen-size bed was very comfortable, and the bath towels were high-quality. But the icing on the cake, for me, was the spacious kitchen/ living room! I love to cook, and I really appreciated the stainless-steel appliances with a helpful kitchen island. It was a great space for me to practice my love of cooking, while chatting with my mom who could relax on the cozy couch nearby.
And while we could’ve stayed at the yurt the entirety of our trip, Julia gave us some fun suggestions and we made the two right turns at the stop signs to experience the adorable town, Meadows of Dan, and some of the Blue Ridge Parkway sights- the historic Mabry Mill, Rocky Knob for great views, and Villa Appalaccia winery.
My mom and I had a wonderful time, and we’re definitely returning to the Yurt next time!
