25th Wedding Anniversary
My wife and I stayed here for 8 nights as we celebrated 25 years of marriage. The home is beautifully decorated with full accommodations for any needs. We only needed 1 or the 3 bedrooms! The home was clean and comfortable. Property manager was helpful and accessible. The village is quaint and inviting with several good places to eat. We spent our days on day trips and our evenings in La Garde-Freinet. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the French Riviera, and we still had more we could have done. A romantic and restful getaway to reflect on our marriage and look forward to more.Thank you Chez Messuraca!

Pas d'eau chaude
Cadre formidable. Vraiment dommage.

Lovely location, great house, stunning scenery
We were met by Jane who was very helpful and even gave us a little tour of the village so we had an idea of where to park and eat etc, this was much appreciated. The house is private and comfortable with a ‘ home from home’ feel to it. Nice bedding and towels with plentiful supply. The village is quaint and pretty and although it’s a bit of a drive down the big hill each time to reach the beaches and main towns, it was nice to come back there each day and escape the crowds and traffic which is heavy around the towns and beaches this time of year. Loved the area in general and will be back to explore more. St Tropez is something else and the beaches are beautiful, the sea a lovely temperature. Very happy with our choice of house and location: a great intro to the Provence area!

So much fun!
I love this town and this home. Because you are right in the center of town, it feels almost like home. The home itself is perfectly outfitted for cooking and relaxing, but the town cafes and shops and the many wonderful places to visit in the wider area draw one out. After a day's outing, though, this is the place to come home to. I've been here several times and expect to come again . . .and again.

Charming & Comfortable Escape
This was our first trip to France, and our first experience in a rented home. The home itself is situated in a ridiculously charming village - not far from Saint-Tropez, but far enough that you'll feel as if you've escaped to another world. Actually, you HAVE escaped to another world. The house itself is cozy, as advertised. Our bed was comfortable. The bathrooms feel tiny, but are fully equipped. The kitchen has the basics. Furniture is dated and a bit worn, but I suspect, intentionally so. If your inner-diva requires service and luxury, find a 5-star hotel in the city and prepare to spend considerably more than 100€/night. The operative word here, is 'charming.' Embrace the atmosphere, and disconnect from the chaos of modernity. Walk the streets of the neighborhood, and you might feel as though you've wandered onto a Hollywood backlot. However, the centuries-old facades you see contain real people, with rich histories and stories to tell.

The perfect stay in La Garde Freinet
This was my second stay at this location in La Garde Freinet, and once again, I could not have been more pleased. It is a perfect location, away from all the tourists in a quiet village with all that you could need right in town. It is close enough for day trips to Monaco, St. Tropez, the wineries etc. The house has true charm, and it is always clean, comfortable, and welcoming. I look forward to coming back again next year! Reason to stay
La Garde Freinet is a quaint community located in Provence in a fabulous setting a short distance from the beaches of San Tropez and the many wineries scattered about the area. The nicely furnished home is within easy walking distance to the towns unique restaurants, art galleries, and markets. The home provided a wonderful home base to explore the area...what a great visit...we are already planning our next stay!

Trip worth doing again!
This home is in a perfect location in the South of France! The small town in tucked away in the hills but very convenient to many places (Nice, St. Tropez, Monaco, wine country...and so on. The home itself is very well kept and has everything one would need. It was great to have 2 full bathrooms and 3 full bedrooms. It is just a couple blocks from the center of town where there are great restaurants, cafes, bakery, grocery, shops...etc. I would recommend this place and will definitely return there again!

About the host

Host profile image
We are from Cincinnati, Ohio and now live in Zurich. We are a family of 6: Ryan, Jimmy, Anderson (14), Olivier (6), Lillian (5) and Rocco (3).I have been visiting this house for nearly 27 years...and our family has enjoyed this house ever since.

Why they chose this property

I have been visiting this house for nearly 27 years. I was taken there at 21 by my 'life mentors' as they had been visiting that house for the 25 years before that. My dear friends Ian and Ambrose spent many years visiting this house with the owners we purchased it from, Jock & Pam Bevan, who live in Scotland. They found this house many years ago because one of Jock's nephews was married to one of the Redgrave daughters. The Redgraves family had a family compound just outside the village.
Since that time, this house has been the place of some of my best memories. There's such a calming, peaceful feeling that comes when staying there (as crazy as that sounds). We've had friends over the years who were dealing with things in their personal lives and have reported that the house was the place that helped them heal.
