About this property

4 bedroom flexible Mountain Ski House just two minutes drive to Solitude

Please note that the biggest different with this home and other 'rentals' is that this home is not equipped like a 'rental' but a home. It's fully equipped with everything you can think of. This gorgeous home was custom built in the early 90's and features hand peeled log columns, antique oriental rugs, Ralph Lauren fabrics, stone floors, slate in the bathrooms, and a feeling of home. The owner was a private chef and so the kitchen is fabulous and has every thing you could possibly need to prepare a wonderful dinner. Bon Appetite magazine even did a story in this kitchen! The main floor has a mud room as you enter for all your ski gear. You step up to the cozy living room and walk through to the dining room and into the chef's kitchen. This is next to the family room. Upstairs there are four bedrooms. The master with a king bed and it's own private bathroom and walk in closet. The view from the tub is of the slopes at Solitude and is the same from the bed. There are three more bedrooms, one with a full bed and a twin bed, a second bedroom that has two double beds and also a small set of bunk beds for kids under age 8. The third bedroom is a self contained studio apartment with it's own kitchen! This works well as a second master bedroom due to the size and the private bathroom. There is another hall bath and a half bath on the first floor. The mapping doesn't work for this house. We are located on the main canyon road just down hill from the Silver Fork lodge and one mile down hill from Solitude ski resort. 15 minutes to the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon and three miles down hill from Brighton ski resort. Our altitude is 7500 feet. Please note that pricing is for the first 8 people. Additional costs apply over 8 people of $35 per person per night up to 12. Please note there is a camera outside to the left of the garage so that I can see when the plowing has been done . It’s only turned on for that reason. Keywords: house, ski cabin, ski home, ski property. ski chalet.

Perfect Ski Location

This is a lovely, rustic home that is in an ideal location for skiing at Solitude. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were overwhelmed by the beauty of the mountains and the area. The house was very well equipped, cozy and comfortable for our group.

Ski trip

Fantastic home one mile from Solitude 3 miles from Brighton. Of particular importance with the storms that arrive the home is a twenty foot driveway off the main road, so you'll never be caught unable to get out especially with Nico coming every morning to snowblow or shovel. Lots of pots and pans and spices, although don't count on everything, stock up at Costco or Walmart.

Our family of 7 (5 adults, a baby, and a toddler) booked this house as a jumping off place for a spring break ski vacation. The house was spacious and very well appointed. The host was very accessible and communication was flawless.

Fantastic Ski Chalet

Sarah was an amazing host and the chalet was the perfect spot to gather with our after skiing. The ski out from Solitude was a fun end to the ski day and the short walk for a dinner at The Silver Fork was a nice dinner out. The chalet was extremely well set up for the wide range of meals that we prepared. Thanks a lot!

Amazing home

This house is amazing!!! Loved everything about this home. Location is great. Short drive to Solitude, and just little bit longer drive to Brighton. Sarah the owner is just the best! She helped me with all the big and small details. We definitely plan on making this home a regular one that we stay in.

A perfect mountain spot.

This was one of the coziest mountain properties I’ve ever stayed at. By cozy, I don’t mean small-sized, the house has tons of room, I mean cozy in terms of feeling. The two wood stoves were beautiful, and we had great conversation hanging out around the hearth after ski days, enjoying the warmth of friends and fire. The host was amazingly responsive, and everything worked well at the house. With the close proximity to Solitude and Brighton, it was easy to get skiing without an annoying long drive up the canyon. Great place to stay!

Holiday fun in Big Cottonwood

The house is great and Sarah was very helpful. Our extended family enjoyed the nearby ski resorts and relaxing in front of the fire and we would gladly return. Just one note of caution about the location... in the winter, you'll need 4x4 or chains and the Guardsman pass is closed, so it's an hour to get to Park City (more if road conditions or traffic are bad).

Perfect Location

House was great, stocked with everything you need. The only issue was 2 of the bunk beds were very short and could only accommodate small children. So there's only 6 full size beds. We had to utilize the couch for our 7th person, which was ok because they were big enough to sleep on.

Access to Brighton and Solitude

We came here to ski Brighton and Solitude and it did not disappoint. Easy access (though if you get a pow day like we did leave early) and we even did some drop offs. They kept the driveway plowed so getting out early wasn't an issue. House worked well for two families with a nice main kitchen and a small mini apartment. Able to cook there for meals or run to the resorts to eat dinner. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect place for a family ski vacation.

We stayed for a family ski trip. The house is just minutes from Solitude and Brighton. We love to cook big evening meals. The kitchen was amazing and well stocked. The dining room was charming and cozy. The layout of the bedrooms is such that each room feels private and quiet. Sarah was very responsive and accommodating. We try to pick different destinations for our annual family ski trip but we all agreed this one is worth repeating.

Stellar!

Our group of retired men absolutely loved this property. The home is beautiful and had everything we needed. Great location close to Solitude and Brighton. Well equipped and very clean and comfortable. Sarah is a wonderful host and was quick to respond to any questions we had before and after our trip. We've stayed at a number of homes and condos for our annual trip and the Flexible Mountain Ski House was the best. Thank you Sarah for everything and for sharing your fantastic place with us!

Wonderful stay near Solitude and Brighton

We just got back from a lovely week at this home. The layout was perfect for our family of 9, which included 3 young kids (who loved the games and dress-up chest in the house). Kitchen had everything we needed. Sarah was an amazing host who took great care to make our stay easy and comfortable, especially considering the incredible amounts of snow they've had this year (which required a team of guys to come shovel off the roof and regular driveway clearing). Thank you so much! We hope to come back sometime!

Beautiful Family Memories

This was a Family ski trip. There were ten of us and this house was super clean and met all our needs. To say the owner was wonderful would be an understatement. She is the BEST. Communication was great. Driveway plowed everyday so it made getting to the slopes so easy. Great snow and a good time was had by all. If we ski Utah again, we would Definately choose this place. Thank you for accommodating our needs. Blessings to you, Carolyn

Amazing cabin in the woods

The house was fantastic with plenty of room for larger groups. Very convenient for ski areas and for hiking and sledding. Beautiful setting among the trees. The two wood stoves kept the first floor warm and created a cozy ambiance especially during snowy days. Sarah was an incredible hostess answering all our questions and even decorated the house for Christmas including a tree and stockings hung from the mantel. The house came equipped with sleds, snow shoes helmets and about anything else you needed for outdoor sports. Our family had the best Christmas family reunion we could have hopped for. Would definitely rent from Sarah again.

Our host was very proactive and helpful ahead of our stay - offering to assist with groceries and other supplies - and was incredibly accommodating when I had to stay home to nurse a knee injury. She gladly hosted the rest of my party, who raves about the property!

About the host

Host profile image
I'm a Realtor with Keller Williams in Park City. Originally from the U.K, I used to live at this property and moved to Park City in 2010. My husband is an attorney in Chicago.

Why they chose this property

I purchased the home back in 1990 and did a complete renovation that took 4 years.
I wanted a home that had no bedroom that sat next to another bedroom and would give great privacy to everyone there. I also wanted two living rooms that were separated so activities in one wouldn't interfere with the other. I had been running a small bed and breakfast in Alta for 10 years and so knew what it was in a home that guests wanted. I created it here. I was also a keen chef at the time so the kitchen is very well laid out and is easy to work in even with a crowd. I love to be in the mountains and this canyon has every thing. Uncrowded slopes, great mountain biking. A wonderful cross country track, excellent back country and superb snow shoeing, yet we are only 15 minutes from the base of the canyon. In the summer we are just 25 minutes by car to Park City over the pass on the Guard road.

What makes this property unique

We have sleds in the garage for kids. Snow shoes, games and NetFlix on demand movies. Something for everyone! If you are arriving late and would like me to do a grocery shop I can free of charge (you just pay for the groceries). Also ask me about discount ski passes.
