Just minutes from our home in every direction you'll find superb restaurants, unique shops, cafes, art galleries, sports pubs, music venues, food stores and more.

We're only 3 minutes from vibrant Quepos town with all its restaurants, clothing and souvenir stores, markets (including farmer's market, meat and fish and organic markets).

Also in Quepos and only 10 minutes away is the famous Pez Marina with its awesome high-end shopping, marvelous restaurants, fishing charters, world-class fishing tournaments, family friendly outdoor movie nights and live music under the stars.

Our home boasts a one-of-a-kind chef's dream kitchen, 3 lovely bedrooms (each with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that look onto our deck and the esquisite jungle scenery).

The kitchen is spacious, generous with top amenities and filled with everything you need to cook your own masterpieces. It features a custom-made kitchen table/island that comfortably seats six and overlooks the living room with its high ceilings and spectacular view of the gorgeous deck and infinity pool.

Our amazing deck is partially covered so folks can eat outside on the beautiful Guanacaste wood dining table and happily converse in comfort - even in a jungle downpour. Grill tasty meals on the propane BBQ grill, relax on our comfy lounge chairs, take a nap on our giant hammock!

Custom-made bamboo tables and chairs outside of each bedroom are perfect for sipping delicious coffee in the morning while enjoying the stunning beauty of the jungle garden view.

Our three bedrooms each have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows that open up onto the deck and pool, luxuriously comfortable beds, super-quiet A/C and powerful overhead fans.

There are two bathrooms, one shared and a master bath, both with spacious standing showers with built-in shelves for shampoos and body wash, plus custom-made cabintry for toiletries.

The living room is airey with a gorgeous high ceiling and sliding glass door that opens onto the pool deck. The living room also has a cozy love chair, a super-comfy couch (extra long and specially-designed for even a very tall person to get a wonderful night’s sleep) a smart TV and beautifully designed coffee table where you can work on your computer while watching your favorite shows.

Our jungle garden is lush with palms, flowering fruit trees, towering jungle trees, colorful flowers as well as visiting exotic birds, butterflies, iguanas, monkeys, macaws, sloths and more, our home is indeed its own little paradise. We are blessed by an amazing variety of wildlife that visit us on a daily basis.

Our property is a favorite too for avian visitors including toucans, scarlet macaws, hawks, tanagers, exotic woodpeckers, fly catchers, brilliant hummingbirds, emerald-green mot-mots and so many more- we're a bird-watcher's HEAVEN!

While we only have parking for one car within our security gate, we do have room for another just outside our gate, which is monitored by 24-hour security cameras and very bright motion-detector lights.

Our visitors have so many options for sightseeing, tours, adventures, hikes, jungle romps, wonderful restaurants, live music, esquisite beaches, visiting wildlife, and gorgeous scenery - every day is an amazing adventure and a wonderful opportunity to make unforgettable memories you will cherish.

Amazing home away from home

Beautiful, comfortable, clean home with everything you need and more. Outdoor space made the perfect getaway with the pool, privacy, wildlife (monkeys, iguana, toucans, frogs and more!) and a hammock just right for reading and lounging. Communication was always super quick and helpful. Everything was perfect for our family of 5! We loved our stay and made so many memories! Pura vida!

A paradise!!

Everything was as promised and communication was fantastic. The pool over looked the garden which had iguanas, monkeys, geckos, frogs, and toucans. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. The road to the house was hard to find the first time but Helena was there to help direct us and we had no problems afterwards. Helena went over everything in the house which was very helpful. If we come back I would stay here again.

Perfect hideaway

From the start we loved the stay. Off the beaten path just enough. House was beautiful, pool was refreshing, everything was perfect, would definitely stay again if we visit the area again. Close proximity to activities, stores, wonderful restaurants! Stumpy was awesome to see, lots of wildlife to watch while relaxing

Incredible stay

Do you want to drink your coffee on a covered patio while watching troops of squirrel monkeys, capuchins, howler monkeys, and toucans come through with the sunrise? Or maybe soak in a private pool after a hot day in Manuel Antonio while listening to birdsong? Or maybe just feed a banana to Stumpy, the resident iguana? Yes. the answer is yes, you do. And this is the house to do it in. It's beautiful and tucked away on a private road but still incredibly convenient to Manuel Antonio. Helena, the house manager was also so kind and helpful and attentive to any needs and met us at the house to walk through everything. We had an amazing time and everyone, my teenage sons included, loved staying here

Absolutely amazing experience

I highly, highly recommend this VRBO, it was our first time coming to Costa Rica and we had no clue what to expect, this house exceeded our expectations in so many ways. Helena was absolutely awesome, she was so helpful and in constant communication with us. the host offered a variety of recommendations as far as restaurants, beaches, and activities, all of which turned out to be amazing! The house itself is in great condition, the views are outstanding, hospitality on point, infinity pool is clean as well as everything in the home. We saw so much wildlife in our backyard it has been an excellent experience. I would love to stay here again. if you are looking to have an amazing vacation, feel safe and comfortable, and have genuine hospitality this is THE home for you!

Great place to just be

We had an incredible stay. The house is beautiful and has everything you need. The back garden is definitely he best part. So many animals... iguanas, toucans, different types of monkeys, an agouti... it was so nice to just sit out on the back deck or in the pool and enjoy the jungle. It's a great place to experience the nature of costa rica in your backyard (literally) and we see more animals at home than in manuel antonio park just down the road. We didn't have a car, but a 5 minute walk got us to a bus stop that took us into quepos or manuel antonio. And the concierge, Helena was amazing and helped us so much with tours and things that came up unexpectedly.

Wonderful stay!

This was an amazing property! The home itself was clean and comfortable. It was well taken care of. The outdoor space was beautiful! We saw many types of wildlife and plants. The pool was lovely and there was an outdoor shower which was great for rinsing off the sand after a day at the beach. Our concierge, Helena, was fantastic! She responded quickly to any questions we had and offered a lot of helpful tips and suggestions. We would definitely stay here again!

A little bit like staring out onto Jurassic park

Of course, everything was spotless and very well equipped and the pool was so refreshing but staring into the forest with lots of beautiful trees, nice birds and even some squirrel monkeys who came to greet us was the best. Not so hard to locate either (thanks to the directions via WhatsApp) and lots of speedy communication with the owner.

Indescribable, it made the trip unforgettable

We had an absolutely unforgettable stay at Casa de La Riena in Costa Rica! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place was a hidden gem. The house was spotless and beautifully maintained, with every detail thoughtfully considered to create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The peaceful surroundings were perfect for unwinding and escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But the real magic of this place was the incredible wildlife. We woke up to the sounds of exotic birds and the occasional monkey swinging by. Every day, there was something new to see – from vibrant toucans perched nearby to iguanas sunbathing in the garden. It felt like living in the heart of nature, with wildlife all around us, but never overwhelming. Scarlet McCaws, agouti, toucans, all 3 types of monkeys, and Stumpy were seen from the back deck. We were either poolside or in the pool everyday at 5:45 am waiting for the monkeys and they never disappointed. Soon after the toucans and McCaws came by.The property was quiet and serene, with just the right amount of natural activity to keep it exciting without being too disruptive. We couldn't have asked for a more peaceful and unique getaway, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a combination of relaxation, comfort, and a close-up experience with Costa Rica's stunning wildlife. It was an experience we'll cherish forever

WONDERFUL juggle back yard

We loved everything about this house! But especially the back yard that is like your own personal juggle retreat. We saw 2 kinds of monkeys, iguanas, toucans, and many other kinds of birds and butterflies. On the last day we even saw a sloth high up in the treetops. Once you go through the gate to the house, it is very quiet and seems secluded, but it is also very convenient to everything in Manuel Antonio. Teya was fabulous to work with and the concierge was amazing. She answered all of our many questions, gave great recommendations and set up some nice tours for us.

A Paradise!

Everything about the house was fantastic! Helena was wonderful helping us check-in, and a great communicator throughout our stay. The owner, Teya, was great at communicating as well. Staying here was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Very comfortable, beautiful and peaceful. The house had everything we needed and was better than we’d hoped. :) We spent hours just staring at the jungle by the pool (saw lots of wildlife) and loved all of the sounds of nature. The house mascot, “Stumpy” was great too! We’d definitely stay here again and will recommend to anyone coming to the area. 10/10

Beautiful home in Manuel Antonio

A big thanks to Teya for letting us stay in her home. She is very quick to respond to any questions or concerns. The home is beautiful and I really like the layout of the property. Each bedroom has easy access to the pool area. You are practically in the jungle with a prime view of the diverse wildlife. We had one snafu with the power being out for an hour during our stay but it luckily got restored quickly.

About the host

Hosted by Teya King

Host profile image
Hi! I'm Teya King, and my husband Jay and I have been in love with Manuel Antonio since the first time we visited in '2006.

I was born and raised in Southern California, and Manuel Antonio reminded me so much of my childhood home of Laguna Beach that I knew I one day wanted to live here. Both my husband (who is a veterinarian) and I love the scenery, vibe and especially wildife of Manuel Antonio - in fact, my husband works with several wildlife sanctuaries throughout Costa Rica.

Since our first visit, we have made a great community of friends in Manuel Antonio, with the dream of one day building a place where we could host family and visitors in this beautiful area. Our dream finally came true when we finished contruction on Casa de la Reina and she welcomed her first visitors in Feb 2023!

We split our time between Saint Louis, Missouri, and Manuel Antonio, and will soon begin building our retirement home in Quepos.

When you arrive at La Reina feel free to reach out and say 'Hola.' If we're in town we'd be delighted to meet you - we always enjoy meeting new friends!

Why they chose this property

La Reina was a labor of love and it took a small village of dedicated, hard-working folks to have her completely built and ready for visitors in less than six months!

When we first saw this little jungle lot, we knew it was perfect for us. So close to everything, yet in it's own little private jungle setting.

We get daily visits from monkeys, macaws and other brilliantly-colored birds, gorgeous butterflies, the occasional sloth, and even have our own resident iguana, "Stumpy," who enjoys snacking on the fruit that our visitors love to leave him.

Casa de la Reina is a lovely home with a peaceful energy. This is the perfect location if you're looking for adventures, and also the perfect place to forget your troubles, take a deep breath and relax.

What makes this property unique

While only a short walk to the main thoroughfare of Manuel Antonio that brings visitors from around the world to and from the world-famous National Park and Manuel Antonio main beach and attractions, our home sits on the end of a quiet street (you will NEVER hear traffic noise from the main road!), and protected from the distractions of civilization by our own beautiful jungle forest.
By foot, we are less than a 10-minute walk or a 3-minute drive to the main road and bus stops.
One bus goes to the beach, a 6 to 10-minute ride depending on traffic.
The other bus goes into the bustling town of Quepos (3 mins), where you can find shopping, Farmer's Market, Restaurants, bars, discos, souvenir shops, the main soccer field, main bus station and the world-famous marina.
Location-wise, we are close to everything, but 'hidden' away in our own little private, peaceful jungle when you want to get away from the noise and bustle.
During our guests stay, our team will be available to answer any questions about tours or sightseeing adventures, help with transportation to and from airport, and given excellent recommendations for restaurants, night life, local events, etc.
When the host is in town, she delights in taking guests around town and bringing them to unique and wonderful places in Manuel Antonio and Quepos and surrounds. Many guests have thoroughly enjoyed these private (FREE) 'Teya Tours' and she is loves sharing this beautiful area with them.
