Nice Victorian Lakehouse

The properties very lovely with the lake out in the back. The only thing bad is we got there late the season and they had to remove the boat and the dock from the water for the winter.

Reconnecting and unwinding!

Loved the house & location. The access to the lake was a huge hit with our group, fishing, swimming, and kayaking. Plenty of wild life, an owl, deer, hawks, black squirrels, chipmunks & so many birds in the morning! Accessibility to everything. Great weekend.

Great stay!

Our family was in town for a short weekend and the house was perfect! Everyone had their own space which was great. The porch was so peaceful, and we enjoyed the great view of the lake.

Historic Lakefront Home

We enjoyed a long weekend family reunion and the home provided the perfect venue for talking, relaxing, enjoying meals together and exercise. We enjoyed several stunning sunrises, mild sunny days and quiet evenings. The stairs creek and some windows were a challenge, but any quirkiness was more than offset by the wonderful decorative interior and wonderful exterior seating, the landscaping, the lake views and lake access. Everyone in our family of nine was delighted.

Goof for a family stay

This property is in a great location on a small lake. I will DM the property manager for a couple areas of improvement that I feel would bring it to a five star on a relative basis, but we would gladly stay there again.

Family wedding weekend

This was a great place for our family to gather. We were busy with wedding festivities, so it was nice to have a home and lovely grounds for the kids to run around on while we were there. Lovely, well maintained classic lake home.

Wonderful getaway with friends

Our friend group spent our annual get-together at this wonderful lakefront property. The house was beautiful and well-equipped for everything our group needed. Check-in process was easy. Amiee was incredibly thoughtful and is an excellent caretaker of the property. Highly recommend this property for your next vacation!

Great property and manager...

This property has old world charm and the lake access and views are awesome. The hostess was outstanding and made the entire process easy. Our first VRBO and manager made it seamless. We are discussing a Summer week stay again. AAA+++

Spacious Lake Home

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious lake home. We filled the rooms and never felt a lack of space. There were plenty of amenities like the water activity kayaks and canoes, as well as grills and fire pit. Our group had lots of fun and had others who visited aspired to book the place in the future!

Great lake home for large families

Lovely home with lots of room for a large family. We spent most of our time on the big porch or down on the dock. Kitchen was well stocked and big enough to prepare meals for 9. Very quiet neighborhood which was great. Also lots of soft grass lawn that our toddler grandson loved!

beautiful stay

We had a great week of family vacation here! Kay was so wonderful to work with and answered all questions throughly and timely. Our family loved spending time together at this beautiful property. We especially loved fishing off the dock, taking the paddle boat out, and making smores by the bonfire at night. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us and letting us create beautiful memories! Blessings, The Maragos family

Great for our stay

The house was roomy and great for our family. The upstairs room was especially nice for the grandkids who enjoyed their “man cave.” The views from the yard are wonderful. Our daughter’s wedding was our reason for staying, and it was a perfect way to unwind after all the months of planning and preparation. I was surprised at the towels we were given. There was one towel per person and they were mediocre to say the least. I am not a picky person but that really bothered me. Down by the water, the terrace area needed a good power washing. The setting is beautiful, but the area needed to be cleaned. Finally, I understand your policy about not having large gatherings, but we had out of town friends and family up there for the weekend and would have liked to be able to host a gathering at the house. Fortunately a different host of a rented house in the area made an exception and allowed us all to be together.

It's Just Wonderful

Everything is so nice here and our family had a great time! The deck and dock are the best thing for our vacation! We enjoyed all the water activities there and the proximity to waterfront. The only draw back is the water in the house. It tastes funny for drinking and feels slimy in the shower. Although this is an old house but very well kept. This is a great place for a family vacation and I would greatly recommend it!

Family reunion in clean home on a peaceful clear lake

Family reunion of 3 generations (ages 8 to 65). Comfortable beds! The property has something for everyone: kayaking, swimming, fishing, cooking and just lounging on the porch/dock with that beautiful lake view. We loved the no jet ski policy! Kids enjoyed the large grass area for throwing the football, kicking the soccer ball, corn hole, and s'mores on the fire pit. Two of us loved sunrise yoga on the lake dock. Even grandma could navigate the stairs with the hand railings. We all want to return next year.

Lovely Lakehouse in Oconomowoc

We traveled to WI from California and stayed in this beautiful home for my son's wedding. We had originally scheduled it for June, but due to Covid, it was pushed out until October. The property manager was very gracious in allowing us to move our reservation. It was too cold to enjoy the lake activities, but the view of the lake with the autumn colors was spectacular, and we enjoyed our coffee on the porch watching the sunrise over the lake. The house is old but charming and very comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

Great Lake Home

Lake living in every sense of the word. Sunny day - fish off the pier, kayak the quiet lake, play lawn games or relax in the numerous seating areas close to the shore. Rainy day - sit on the expansive front porch and watch the rain or the local deer herd pass by. Nighttime - build a roaring fire in the pit on the front lawn. The home is convenient to restaurants and shops but seems away from it all. A long driveway tucks the home away from the world. The house is old and has its creaks but has charm and all the necessary conveniences. Flat screen TVs in the living room and third floor bedroom/game room (but why watch TV with the views). Very comfortable beds and lots of hot water in the bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen with a Keurig to boot. All around very clean and comfortable. We are a family of five and had way more space than needed. The house can easily accommodate double that. Communication was great - lots of forms to fill out but understand why. If you are from the area you know this type of lake home is now a rarity. Broad lawns and house perched above a lake with few homes. Great stay! Will be back.

Oconomowoc lake house

We enjoyed our stay in Oconomowoc. The property and lake house were very nice. Really enjoyed the front porch and the tranquil setting. The pier and waterfront were great! If you like to fish, swim, or boat this is definitely the place. Overall a great place to vacation. While we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the lake house there are some improvements that are needed. Some of the outlets in the kitchen didn’t work and hot water for showers was a problem because it wasn’t sufficient for multiple showers. If you’re going to advertise that the house can sleep 13 people then it should be able to accommodate a few people taking showers without the hot water running out. Some of the blankets needed better washing as there were some stains on them. The second floor bathroom was not clean when we arrived. There was fecal stains on the wall by the toilet area. Light switches were difficult to figure out. The light under the microwave didn’t work. There was no pepper in the kitchen. The batteries were dead in the remote on the 3rd floor. And there were no extra Triple A batteries to be found. Went out next day to buy some. No sheets in the drawer labeled futon on the 3rd floor. The toilet on the second floor is not attached well. Finally, there were people working in the yard while we were there enjoying our vacation. This scared some of our little ones who were out side playing. These things can easily be remedied to make this lake house a perfect vacation spot.

Lovely Lakefront Victorian Provides Fishing Fun & Exercise

This beautiful 117 year-old Victorian has a well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, a secluded and peaceful setting, inviting front porch, large deck, and sturdy dock that afforded fun fishing for our grandchildren. The canoe and kayaks also provided for fun outings on the lake. There is a great biking trail nearby, easily accessible from the rental property, as well as grocery and other shopping venues within 2 miles. At the time we were there, we were unable to launch our boat on the Lower Nashatah (no public launch available with parking for trailer), and we were told there were to be no power boats, water skiing/boarding, or jet skis on that lake. However, we observed many of those items in use. We did trailer the boat and launched it on another nearby lake for a day of fishing. The house (basement and 3 stories) and dock are not conducive to those with difficulty navigating stairs. There is no bathroom on the main floor, necessitating going up or down flights of stairs to locate one, and the dock is only accessible via many steps down to lake level. The property manager was easily contacted and helpful in repairing/replacing a couple of items. Repairs were needed--we found 3 of the dining room chairs in need of leg repair, the air hockey table had an electrical short and was not usable, to the disappointment of the grandchildren, and a toilet paper holder fell off the wall, but was repaired "in house." Towels, beach towels, and laundry facilities were great.

This home has been in our family since 1996. Our experiences with this house have been that of uniqueness, excitement, bonding, and joy. Since our family has moved on, its tenants have been diverse and many. For several years we offered it to family, friends, and missionaries from our church who needed a place between their calls of service. In 2010 we decided to list it here on VRBO / HomeAway. We always found our house to be a wonderful place for families to gather, experience, and grow, and we hope our home will provide such an environment for those who choose to visit.

Why they chose this property

We work very hard to make sure our house & property is well maintained and up-to-date.... interior and exterior. Since we began our VRBO journey, we've been making improvements every year. We hope they are appreciated by our guests.

What makes this property unique

Character. Charm. Personality. Uniqueness. Private. Intimate. Quiet. Get-Away. Spacious. One of a kind.
