Peaceful country living yet close to all the happenings in Bend
Come “home” to our serene and spacious 20 acre retreat after a fabulous day out and about exploring Bend and Central Oregon. You may never want to leave once you start relaxing with a local beer on the back patio, or strolling out to the pond to find tadpoles. Perhaps you prefer to get a game of basketball in before dinner preparations are under way in our well appointed kitchen. And remember to look up at the night sky. The stars are amazing!
Please note, this is a working ranch with a separate apartment in the barn. Our Resident Artist/Ranch Hand/Sister Pamela lives on the property with her partner Lorenzo. If any issues arise, they are available to help out, but likely you won’t even know they are there. During hay season you may see them out in the fields moving pipe. Feel free to give us a wave.

This property is beautiful! Simply amazing! It had plenty of space for our large group! It was an awesome experience to stay here. Everything was close and convenient! The hosts were amazing! I would definitely stay here again
There is plenty of space for us to cook and hang out before and after our rounds of golf. There were plenty of beds for the 12 of us and the communication with the owner and property manager was excellent. We would absolutely come back and stay here again.
Charming and spacious home in idealic country setting
From the moment we walked in the door we were in love with this unique property that oozes with comfort and charm. We could not have found a better property for our family holiday get-together (4 couples and one child), and the host was very accommodating. Private, quiet, lovely views, fully stocked, plenty of space, beautiful kitchen with new appliances, and an all-around winner. Photos don't capture the beauty and essence of this place. Highly recommend!
Our group came to Bend to ski for MLK weekend and this house worked out well. As pictured, there were plenty of sleeping areas and bathrooms. The kitchen was updated and well-stocked with new appliances that were great for cooking large meals. There were two sitting areas to relax at the end of the day giving us plenty of space to hang out after skiing all day. Being out in the country provided beautiful views and plenty of space to park multiple cars. Meals on the back patio would be fantastic in the summer months. One thing that should be noted: there is a caretaker living on the premises. He will greet you upon arrival, give you the keys, and a walk-through of the house. This is unusual for a VRBO, and should be added to the house description. Although the caretaker was on-site, he was respectful of our space/privacy, and very responsive via text. Since the spaces are conjoined by a glass door, one of our members felt a bit awkward that the caretaker's space could be seen directly from the bed, and while not too big of an issue, curtains in the "Joiner" would be a great addition to help with privacy. Overall I would recommend this vacation rental for your next group or family getaway to Bend

About the host
Hosted by Pamela Compton
Here we are enjoying some family time together with an evening cocktail at Mahoutma. We grew up in Ohio and somehow all 5 siblings ended up on the Westcoast. So over 30 years ago our parents moved to Bend and all us kids, cousins, grandkids etc love it here!
Why they chose this property
Whether it's viewing pond life with tadpoles, ducklings and goslings in Spring, Summer basketball games in the driveway, evening strolls enjoying the Autumn leaves and sunset in the neighborhood or Wintertime xc skiing through all those open fields, every season we love our time here and are now sharing our beloved Mahoutma with others. We know you'll enjoy hanging out as much as we do, and like us, will find it hard to drive away when your visit comes to an end.
What makes this property unique
So much space! Hanging out on 20 acres of land and nearly 4,000 sq feet of home and still only be 10ish minutes from all the various happenings in town can't be beat! You get it all. Proximity and privacy.
