Fish Camp - Backyard Caney Creek Fishing - 7.5 Miles from the Gulf
This is a very private property on the historic Caney Creek. Once the mouth of the Colorado River millions of years ago, this creek welcomed Conquistadors, French expeditions, and was the original plantations of Stephen F. Austin who died in near by West Columbia. Your group will have a wonderful place to relax and fish, cook in our huge, well furnished kitchen, and enjoy our Gig-a-net Wireless along with many smart home features! Our bathrooms both have well equipped shower stalls and the Master is suited for someone with ADA requirements. Please let us know how we can make your stay INCREDIBLE! *** Due to the recent flood event the Back Dock is not very stable and the permit process is ongoing to replace it with a floating dock system. Please stay off the dock until further notice***

The house is big enough for all the guest and if you are looking for a quiet relaxing place then this is it! The property manager is quick to respond about any needs you may have as well.
Excellent home for a family gathering. Me and my family really enjoyed fishing on the dock.
Made some smores on the last night for the little ones. We will be back next year.
The home doesn’t look as big as the pictures when you pull up in the driveway but when you walk in it’s as if you stepped inside Mary Poppins purse! The house is spacious and nice. Mitch is very responsive and gets back ASAP. Would stay here again!

Fishing and Crabbing
The house was clean and roomy. Recent rains had resulted in tall grass, mosquitoes, and bugs inside. Both grills were out of service. The owner had promised a replacement within 24 hours of arrival but failed to show. The screens on the outside building were torn. We couldn't keep the mosquitoes out. The gazebo on the patio was broken and had ragged remains of a tarp hanging from it. Maintenance on the outside area would have improved the stay.

About the host
Hosted by Mitch McKenzie
We are excited to share this wonderful property where you never know what will, swim, fly or roam by! The local bird population stops by on the regular for the feeders. We see Cardinals, Wood Peckers, Humming Birds, Bald Eagles, Turkey Buzzards, Cow Birds, and Texas Cranes to name just a few. It is so easy to lose track of time here sitting on the Deck or Pier.
Why they chose this property
We included ramps and large Shower and Vanity areas for those using Wheel Chairs and walkers. Powered Recliners in the Asian Room and Living Room.
What makes this property unique
Walk out the back door and fish from the Honeyhole. Smoke a Brisket in our smoker or just relax by the fire pit with family and friends.
