Lakefront Retreat

Find classic Maine craftsmanship in a gorgeous setting at this lakefront home on the shores of Brandy Pond in Naples. This is summer in Maine at its finest, with 250 feet of lake frontage, a private sandy beach, two spacious docks, and a floating swim platform.

This waterfront home sits on a quiet, protected cove that's ideal for swimming, playing with young children, paddleboarding, kayaking, and fishing (the area to the left of the beach is one of the better fishing spots in the area). Two single kayaks, a tandem kayak, a paddleboard, boogie boards, and life jackets are even provided for your use. On the surrounding acre and a half of wooded land, you'll find peace among loons, ducks, geese, and foxes and a bald eagle nest atop the trees to the left of the house. Eaglets are in the nest from late March to July, with adult eagles catching fish by the house for much of the summer.

The home faces east, providing gorgeous views of the sunrise and the shimmering lake from nearly every room, as well as warm morning sun and welcome afternoon shade. Wrapping the lake sides of the house is an expansive screened porch, where you can bring your morning coffee, read in the afternoons, gather for family meals, and set up board games and puzzles with the lapping lake within earshot.

The interior is classic and beautiful, with cozy living spaces, wood paneling throughout, and a kitchen that was thoughtfully remodeled with new appliances in 2020. Spend the evenings streaming movies on the living area TV before retiring to four bedrooms in the main house - one on the first floor, three upstairs, and all with views of the lake and windows on at least two sides. The separate boathouse at the lake's edge is a bonus, offering perfect sleeping space for kids that's both private and close to the rest of the family in the main house.

THINGS TO KNOW
Streaming services are available with guests' own account credentials.
Only well-behaved dogs more than two years old are permitted.
Fires inside or outside the house are prohibited without prior written permission.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

Parking notes: There is free parking available for 6 vehicles.

Dock details: There are two cement docks about 22-feet long that remain in the water year-round, and the wooden raft is in the water seasonally. The water is about two feet deep near the dock and guests must provide their own ropes or other equipment. The cove in front of the house is a no wake zone making it an ideal area for swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking.

Vacation 2024

We didn’t have power at the boat so we had to throw so food away. A maintenance man was fixing the road and blew a fuse so we didn’t have access to reset the breaker. Also when cooking breakfast we had to reset breakers as well. The house was a bit dusty as well and the laundry area smelled musty

Lakefront stay on a small lake

We had a good week at the house with a large screened-in porch, small beach, and dock with kayaks. It had a large, modern kitchen while retaining its Maine cottage charm.

Perfect Lakeside Location

We visited from Virginia and wanted to see several spots in southeast Maine (lighthouses, cliffs, whale-watching, quaint towns, etc). Rather than stay at multiple spots, we found this "centralized" location about an hour west from Portland. The place is as advertised. It is spacious with an amazing screened in back porch. 200-300 mbps internet. Equipped kitchen. Everything. If you didn't want a day-trip, you could stay and kayak, fish, or swim. It has its own little beach with a slow easy slope for dogs or kids. Never saw a neighbor. Our dogs loved the porch and water. Highly recommended. Celebrated our last night in the house by making a lobster dinner.

Lakeside retreat

Great getaway with the family for a week of fun and sun. We all enjoyed the kayak’s and paddle boarding that were provided even though I kept falling off. Swimming was great and the house was exactly as I imagined it. Plenty of great restaurants nearby and my daughter wowed the crowd at Karaoke night. I would rent this property again.

Needs improvement but great location

While this house was in a wonderful location, right on the lake, we did have several issues that negatively affected our stay. Upon arrival, there was no binder or even one page of instructions regarding the home. No instructions on how to operate the tvs or the security system, where to put trash out, etc When we turned the oven on it began to smoke! It obviously hadn't been cleaned in a while and we were unable to use it. The outbuilding with the life vests was locked and we had to hunt around til we found LOTS of old keys and had to try them all! And the additional beds in that building still had the dirty/messy sheets and blankets from the previous guests; housekeeping clearly had done nothing in there. Housekeeping didn't clean the fridge either and there was old ice cream left in the freezer. The pots and pans and dishes were all very old and worn out. I had to buy a new pan to use. It looked as though no one had vacuumed or dusted in a while. All the furniture seemed quite old and worn out. One positive note was that they provided LOTS of towels. It was a nice touch to provide small hotel toiletries, but there were 4 bottes of conditioner and only 1 shampoo. I found Vacasa's responses to my various requests for assistance very frustrating. I do not have enough characters to elaborate in this review unfortunately. I am unsure if I would be willing to rent another Vacasa property in the future.
