Perfect for Family

This property has so much going for it. Great location, clean water, gorgeous views, comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and delightful neighbors/owners. The camp itself, while spotlessly clean, is getting tired and could use a facelift. But that doesn’t negate all the positives!

Great dog-friendly lake cottage!

I was very happy with our little cottage! It had everything we needed. It was a sweet old-fashioned cabin with an amazing waterfront. We had a ball. The owners were very nice.

Best Sandy Beach Rental Around!

The property was very well kept, the owners were easy to work with when/if needed. The beach was the best sandy rental beach we have seen. The water was clean, clear and warm. The rental had everything that we needed to make our vacation a great one! Definitely would recommend!

Family friendly lake house

We had a blast here. As a family of 5 with three young kids it was a perfect spot. The kids loved the beach and the house was really comfortable for all of us including our golden retriever. I could see us coming back here every year!

Perfect family getaway

The property was even better than I expected from the pictures. Large area for the puppies to run around a lovely Sandy Beach and more than enough room for people to do their own thing. The Gordon’s were super friendly and absolutely adored my two Golden’s, Shiloh and Mica. I felt I did not need to be on top of them all the time to behave, even though they do. The pups would run over and greet them whenever they saw them and they were more than happy to pet them. It made me very relaxed to not have to worry about them and I enjoyed myself immensely… We are already booking for next year. Can’t say enough about this place

Great Vacation

We arrived to a cute clean little cabin right on the water. The houses were bit close together for our tastes and from what we could see online we didn't think they were so close. It's very convenient to the main street, so trips to the store, mini golf, ice cream all very close and easy. The downside of this is quite a bit of noise from the traffic during certain times of the day. The amenities at the cabin are great. Also very comfortable. The owners are right next door and are wonderful, welcoming and very mellow people! I would highly recommend this spot for a family. Not quite as much for a couple like us looking for a more secluded spot. That would be the only reason I don't give overall 5 stars. It was a beautiful spot and a great stay overall.

Check out this view. Spectacular lakefront with sandy beach.

We were looking for a cabin style vacation rental, with lakefront access and tranquility. This property checked off all our desires. It was pleasing to have the owner located next door and so attentive to our needs. George and Barbara are now our friends. We know where to go for a nice week of rest, relaxation and enjoyment. Several convenient restaurants were nearby (less than ten minutes) and do takeout for us Covid sensitive visitors. Our dogs were welcome and loved running in the sand and swimming with the ducks. Highly recommend this tucked away get away to anyone.

Beautiful Getaway

Our family of 5 had a wonderful time at this Sebago Lake property! Our 3 girls (3, 5, and 8), couldn't wait to jump in the lake each day. Having the beach just steps away from the house was so easy, and the view from the property is incredible. On cool days we went to Mackworth Island to see and make our own fairy houses, into Portland for a lobster dinner, and to nearby Donnabeth Lippman Park in Windham to walk the beautiful trail and let the kids play on the playground. We had a couple of rainy days where we spent some time watching movies. George even brought by some games for the kids--so thoughtful! Great location, attentive owners, and a relaxing and scenic lake vacation we'd love to do again.

summer 2020

perfect, sandy beach with shade or sun all day, crystal clear water (albiet shared with owner, who lives next door. There was 1 day there were 3 children and 2 adults using the same beach which made it rather uncomfortable, especially during covid quarantine). Location is very convienient, close to take out Lobster, other restaurants and shopping. The overall cottage was comfortable and roomy enough for 5 or 6 adults. A family with young children will love this place. The beds could use some mattress toppers for comfort. In all, a positive review.

Little cabin on the lake

If you are looking for a quiet getaway this small cabin in the woods is great. My family and I (husband, son and golden retriever) recently had the pleasure of staying here and it was the perfect location for us to enjoy the lake. We rented a pontoon boat which was only minutes up the road and accessible to the property, we enjoyed the quiet location, the sandy beach was great for our six year old son and dog. The owners are steps away from the cabin and are available if anything is needed at all times. The cabin is dated but quaint and the perfect size for a close family to enjoy. The dining table had plenty of space for all of us to eat and play games as well. The internet access and Netflix option on the tv were perfect for the rainy days too. The view and location is unbeatable if you enjoy having a coffee in the early morning to enjoy the water. There were many spiders and bugs in and around the cabin but to be expected when in the woods. The vacuum provided in the cabin helped to remove them. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Beautiful place

It was a beautiful property overall. But being right on top of the owner made you feel like you were being watched at all times like your parents were watching making sure you were behaving. The Gordon’s were great don’t get me wrong but it was an awkward feeling

What a quaint cottage with the best view of Sebago Lake! The proprietors couldn't have been more kind and helpful! We loved the convenience of Adirondack and lounging chairs a stone's throw from our door to enjoy the lake! One of our best vacations to date! Bridget

New favorite place on Sebago

First of all the owners are two of the nicest people you’d ever want to meet. And when they say they are dog- friendly, they really mean it! The place is small but comfortable and very clean. The beach is nice and sandy and clean. The view from the cabin is lovely. Everything in the cabin was working and the owners checked up on us to see if we needed anything. We are definitely planning to return- we had a great time!

Peaceful and Welcoming

My wife and I spent a wonderful week at this cottage. The location of the cottage was away from the main roads, just a few footsteps from Sebago Lake with a breathtaking view of the lake. The cottage was exactly what we were looking for... vintage, yet welcoming, clean and comfortable. The grounds were well kept and the Owners and their family were very friendly and helpful in making sure that our stay was perfect. Eric & Audrey NH

Coffee & morning sun

My wife & I took this lovely cottage for a week in early June. We had family & friends join us throughout our stay. There was plenty of room for us all, though we spent most of our time outside. The beach front is terrific, especially in the morning. Facing east, the rising sun warms us as does our coffee. Our hosts, the Gordons, are very gracious & accommodating. Their entire family pitched in to make us feel welcome. As remote as this cottage feels, with many species of birds flitting about in the tall trees or paddling in the estuary, it's close enough to have a pizza delivered from the local village or a short drive for Thai food. The youngsters in our crowd found plenty of activities from water themed adventures to hiking and more but my bride of 30+ years and I most enjoyed the quiet time and sunny mornings on the beach with our coffee. As for the return to this slice of paradise by the water, it's just a matter of when we can all get away together.

Idyllic Vacation

I've just returned from an absolutely marvelous week at this glorious property and cottage on Lake Sebago. I had grown up summering on a lake but had been spending more time on the ocean in recent years, but never again. A lake... especially this lake and house...are the place for me. The cottage is rustic, with beautiful knotty pine walls and comfy leather couches and chairs for time spent in the house. The house was fully equipped with all one needs for an easy and comfortable stay, and the sandy beach was only about fifty paces away. Wifi, fire pit, raft, grills...everything was as advertised and working perfectly. I have rented houses for many years and this was the best in terms of supplies for kitchen , bathroom. etc. The owners, who live in a house close, are helpful, friendly and unobtrusive....but when we did get together for a barbecue it was a delightful evening. The house was very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 teenagers, and additional guests were so impressed they want to rent for next year. The lake is marvelous...quiet, clear and peaceful, a perfect getaway to relax and enjoy the wonderful Maine scenery . When you turn off the main road to get to the cabin you will find a tranquil and secluded cottage in a beautiful setting just 3 minutes away from civilization and all that you might need. Everything in the ad is true about this property but you will find much more to make your vacation memorable. I recommend this perfect spot for anyone who wants a wonderful Maine vacation. I am definitely going back next year.

Wonderful Family Vacation (w/ 3 Teenagers)

Quiet, well-stocked, well-loved lakeside cottage exactly as advertised - sandy beach, swimming dock, excellent wifi/cable, good laundry (in basement), charcoal grill and gas grill, perfectly comfortable for our family of 5 (including 3 teenagers). Kitchen was thankfully outfitted with every conceivable pan, pot, strainer, knife, etc. Enjoyed s'mores on the beach using the firepit (ample firewood provided by owners) - Adirondack chairs were comfortable, plentiful and easy to move around the sand for perfect sun. One fun side note - there's a small island (really just a huge jumble of glacial granite boulders with a tree and some vegetation) about 300-400 yards off the beach - amazingly fun to swim out with snorkles and goggles to explore two sunken barges, schools of fish and rock formations (water only about 8-10 feet deep). Owners George and Bobbie were delightful - checked in on us as needed but not at all intrusive. To be fair: you are sharing a house on their (immaculate) property - so if you want absolute and total beach privacy this might not be an ideal choice. But for a family we couldn't have asked for a much better arrangement. 15 mins drive to good local restaurants, markets, Segago Lake State Park.

Perfect Vacation

Our family of four (parents plus two young daughters) just returned from this property a couple of weeks ago and we give it eight thumbs up! Actually twelve thumbs up as we had two visitors while we were up there. We couldn’t have had a more perfect vacation. The property came just as advertised. We’ve rented properties all over Lake Sebago and nearby lakes the last five years and before that lakes in NH and VT. This is definitely one of the top rental properties in terms of the physical aspects – sandy beach on a clear, fresh-water lake, child/toddler-friendly landscaping, a clean and well-equipped house (bedding and towels must be supplied by guests) large enough to accommodate our family and visiting friends and relatives. But what really makes this place special is the people (and dog!). The owners, George and Bobbi, live next door and they were the most attentive and generous “landlords” we’ve ever had the pleasure to deal with (from the moment we contacted them via this website to the time we got our deposit check back). Just as a small example, at one point my wife needed a sieve for cooking as our kitchen, which was otherwise well equipped, did not have one. She asked George if they had one to borrow. George came by next day with one. He never even mentioned it, but it was clearly bought new just for us. He could have just said he didn’t have one and that would have been the end of it, but he went out of his way to get it for us. We also very much enjoyed his grown up children and their children. Sharing the beach may be a put off for some, but the property and certainly the lake are large enough to accommodate all. In fact, our seven year old got along fabulously with one of the grandchildren. On this vacation we never heard the oft complaint from past years -- “Dad, there’s nothing to do!” (other than swimming, building sand castles, going on canoe rides, catching critters and fish, roasting marshmellows, etc., etc. – all of which we did). Having a friendly golden retriever also was a huge hit with our children. We will definitely return.

Quickly Becoming a Family Tradition

We are writing to express our complete satisfaction with this wonderful property on Sebago Lake. We are a family of six, including three children, ages 8, 6, and 3, and a 9-year old Golden Retriever. Recently, we returned home from our annual family vacation, the third consecutive year that we have stayed at this property. It has become one of the highlights of our year. The description and photos in the posting are accurate, if not understated. The cottage is rustic, but fully furnished and very comfortable with all the amenities of home. It easily accommodates our family and guests, and it is quite child and pet friendly, things that are extremely important to us. That said, we do not rent the property for the cottage, per se. We spend nearly every waking moment outdoors. We rent the property for the absolutely beautiful beach just a few feet from the front door, the child friendly water access, and the stunning views. You simply will not find a nicer, more private or child friendly beach for the money. Frankly, the posted photos do not capture the essence of the property. My kids (and dog) spend all week playing on the beach, swimming back and forth to (and jumping off of) the large raft, and exploring along the rocks on the water's edge. Our last night culminated with us all wearing our headlamps and hunting for creatures; we successfully caught a frog, a fish, and nearly caught a crayfish! The negative review of this property should be taken within the context of one's needs and expectations, which obviously differ from person to person. The owners do live next door. We are not intimidated or uncomfortable in any way by their occasional presence. In fact, we enjoy their family to the extent that we have shared a meal or two together over the last 3 years. They have a very friendly Golden Retriever, which is free to wander the property, as ours is during our stay, and that works out beautifully. We have never had a problem with their dog, or with the septic tank. We have seen ants, and we have even seen evidence that mice have visited, but neither are deal breakers for us. This is a rustic cottage in Maine! Importantly, the owners afford us ample privacy, while availing themselves to us if/when needed. We have never felt that the property was misrepresented. We plan to spend our vacation at this property again next year, our fourth. We have unforgettable memories from our time here, and we anticipate this becoming a longstanding family tradition.

Wonderful trip

When we arrived, the property was very clean and stocked with basic supply's . The property is very well maintained and what beautiful landscaping the property is surrounded by. The views of the water and the beach is absolutely beautiful ! The home owners were so kind and welcoming and could of not done enough to make our stay comfortable. The home owner was so nice to let us know where to shop, bike, boat, etc. In addition we rented a boat for a few days and the home owner was more than happy to accommodate and recommend the best spot on the beach to dock the boat. We had our two dogs with us all week and the home owners dog became instance friends. There dog actually taught/encouraged our dog to swim and fetch a ball thrown into the water. We had the best time and our friends and family who came and went all week felt the same way we do. We cannot wait to return next year and hoping it will be a two week stay.

BEST VACATION EVER

We have just returned from the best vacation ever and are planning another week next year. This was the first time renting this cottage and it was everything we expected and MORE! Not only was the property as described but it had more amenities than I expected. The kitchen had everything you needed, there were numerous platters, plates, bowls, even wine glasses. The cottage was very clean and was very comfortable. The pictures on the website were accurate and the view from the cottage and the beach were spectacular. It was great having a dishwasher and washer/dryer. We brought our 16' Hobie Cat catamaran and beached it every day along with 2 kayaks. The owners encouraged us to use the beach and the property (every inch of it, if we chose) to our pleasure. They are a very kind and accomodating family and we very much enjoyed them. We had family over one night and ended up with 12 people on the beach and in the yard for the afternoon and evening. The beach was plently large enough for our company and the owners' family without being crowded. Our guests kept saying what a wonderful place we had found and that it was just perfect (we agreed). We rented a jet ski for the day and were in and out of the beach all day. The owners told us how much they enjoyed seeing us entertain our family and friends. They stressed many times during the week that they wanted us to enjoy our stay and the property and wanted to know if anything, anything at all was a problem. In addition to our sailboat, we also brought my daughter's pet rabbit. He had recently been put on a medication and could not be left with the arranged caregiver as expected. Fortunately, he recovered from his illness quickly and was a pleasure to have on our vacation. He is a very socialized rabbit and goes outside on a leash and harness. The rabbit met the owner's dog and they became good friends. In fact we all became very good friends with the owner's dog, she is a very well behaved and sweet dog. When I approached the owner about the need to bring the rabbit, the words barely got out of my mouth and he said "bring him". The owners were very accomodating and stressed their understanding of pets being a significant part of a family. The location is great, my son golfed at two local golf courses, we enjoyed the lake every day with a variety of watercrafts and we went to Freeport one day when the weather allowed. We are already planning next year's vacation here!

My wife and I purchased the house in the early 1970’s on Sebago Lake, and this property is very near and dear to our hearts. We own two homes next to each other on the lake, and rent this one out throughout the summer. I (George Gordon) am a retired periodontist and my wife, Bobbie Gordon, is a retired educator and consultant. We look forward to your visit and will be more than happy to help steer you to some of the great local restaurants, lobster pounds, and places of interest to your family.

Why they chose this property

We bought the house on Sebago Lake for a retreat from life in Cape Elizabeth (suburb of Portland, Maine) during the summer. Our four boys were raised at the lake and we have many fond memories that were solidified while vacationing at Sebago Lake. Our grandchildren are now building up their own Sebago Lake memories.
