Welcome to Back in Time Retreat. We hope you enjoy your stay here as much as we do. We love this little retreat in the woods on the cliff. It was a challenge to get this little gem in this beautiful location but well worth it. We started out with the vision as we looked up at the cliff and realized that beautiful spot was unutilized. With a friend, a backhoe and determination we were able to get the road up and through the cliff. From there it was a matter of establishing the water, electricity, and hard work to get this 1968 Avion travel trailer remodeled. The experience is breath taking with view of the San Francisco Peaks and other mountain ranges with a feeling of piece and alone in the woods. It is located close to Historic route 66 with views of train going through. Keep in mind there is train noise and is a part of the experience. The main cabin on the lower section of the property is also a rental property: Parks Chalet. They are both very secluded where you cannot see one from the other even though they are on the same property.

This was a great location. Felt secluded but didn't have to travel far. Nicely renovated RV with everything all the amenities. It was comfortable and quiet except for the train which you get used to hearing.
We had a great time at the trailer! Super clean and cute. We got used to the trains going by very quickly, and with the beautiful location it didn’t really matter anyways. We would definitely recommend staying here.
My spouse and I stayed at this property for about 3 hours. Yes, the listing did briefly state there was a train. However, the description does not tell you the train runs about 1000 feet from the property. The trains go by about every 45-60 minutes. Also, the train blows its horn as it nears the intersection which causes additional noise.
I informed the owner I was vacating the property because of the train. The owner became very defensive. I did not accuse him of anything only the reason we were leaving. The owner started saying he couldn't control the train. This is true which is why we decided to leave the property. The owner claimed everyone else before us gave him 5 stars and I was the only one who complained. The owner then proceeded to say, "You coco people" and "You might want to look in the mirror."
Future lodgers may want to think twice about staying at this place.
Don’t hesitate to book this property. The owners did a wonderful job remodeling, and this place is so cute. They thought of everything you could possibly need or want to have a comfortable stay. The area is really peaceful with lots of trees and a beautiful view of the San Francisco peaks. There is also a pond very close by. Thank you to the owners for sharing this great property.
For those traveling with children, animals or light sleepers. The train blows its horn every time they pass. If you are a train lover you might know over 100 trains a day cross through the great state of AZ. You will hear the train horn at night. This was hard for sleeping. A sound machine or earplugs might help. During the day it was really fun to walk over and see the train pass. The train tracks are about 100 yards away. Our front-wheel drive vehicle did not make it to the top of the property but there is a parking spot pullout just below RV it’s a short climb to RV.
The RV itself is delightful. Much care has been taken in the remodel. It’s adorable inside. Very clean. The seating and bedding are nice. The kitchen was fully stocked with needed items, we cooked breakfast and dinner. The outdoor fenced-in area has great seating. We played games that they had in RV and ate outside. A basic knowledge of RVs may be helpful for turning on Propane and water pump. There are labels in RV that help. Host also sends messages with instructions. It’s a great place to disconnect and be in an internet-free zone. It is private from other properties. There is a mercantile gas station with a small store, post office, and restaurant less than a minute away when driving. We walked (.85 miles) over and had lunch at Mustang River Grill. It’s a fun little spot to explore. Flagstaff about 20mins.
We booked this stay to get away from the Arizona desert summer heat and this mountain getaway was perfect. We actually used the gas fire pit in the early morning with our coffee. The RV does share the property with another VRBO but we didn’t hear or see the other people or their dogs. If we were hoping for some quiet solitude and this location delivered. The owners mentioned that you hear the trains, and we did but that added to the charm. The owners provide ear plugs if you need them for sleep. We gave four stars for two reasons, one the location has a gas grill which wasn’t mentioned and the internet is using your Verizon hotspot. Neither created a problem for us, but might be needed information for others.
We would highly recommend this location and hope to return.
Thanks,
Tracy and Jeff
